Dogs 101, Questions about the Siberian Husky breed, and Questions about dogs. Fan Friday is a series where we answer questions submitted by people every week. Have a question about the Siberian Husky? Have a question about Dogs in general? Have a question about Gone to the Snow Dogs? These are the videos to come to! I will say, I am not a dog trainer. I have trained my own Siberian Huskies, and I have my own ideas on how to work with Siberian Huskies, but my methods will not work for anyone. I always suggest, if you really need help with training your dog, you should reach out to a professional dog trainer.
It's time for Fan Friday with Gone to the Snow Dogs! Fan Friday is a series we do where we answer questions you have about Siberian Huskies, and dogs in general. We also answer questions about ourselves! This is an educational and informational series that we started! Siberian Husky Facts, Husky Facts, Dog Facts, and anything else you would like to ask! We also open mail sent by our audience! So come on by, ask a question, and see if you get your question answered on our show!
You can't yawn for Fan Friday!
You can't yawn!
Neither can you!
Let's do lazy over there!
It's Fan Friday! Gotta be excited!
We had a pretty interesting question today!
Sam wants to know...
What's Fan Friday?
Say, what's Fan Friday?
Fan Friday, basically is the video we do every Friday.
Where we answer questions from you, the fans.
Then, show things you guys sent us to our PO Box.
That's Fan Friday!
Terry wants to know,
How much weight has Oakley lost since you got her?
Did you put her on a special diet to help her lose the weight?
Oakley, I believe was 67 or 68 pounds when we got her.
She is now...
Well, last time we were at the vet,
She was 62 pounds.
We didn't really put her on any special diet.
I think, the people that had her before us,
may have been feeding her a bit too much.
I don't know if she got as much activity,
because she didn't have a backyard to play in.
When we're here, she can play in the backyard with our dogs.
Not really any special diet.
Just the proper amount of food and extra play time with the other girls.
Mark wants to know,
If Shelby and Memphis move around on the bed at night while you're asleep?
Yeah! Not a lot!
But every once in a while, they wake up and move around and wake us up.
Not too often though.
Emily says,
My husband and I are moving from Washington State to Kentucky.
We're driving and our Husky will be riding in the back of our vehicle.
Do you have any tips for helping with the long car ride?
How often should we stop to let him stretch his legs?
One tip I have, is maybe get a Kong and freeze it with some peanut butter.
Then, take some extra peanut butter with you.
Just to give him something to do while he's in the kennel.
As for stopping...
Every time you have to stop to go to the bathroom,
your dog probably should get out and stop and go to the bathroom.
Walk around for 15-20 minutes.
That's usually what we do when we take our girls on trips.
Whenever I have to pee, I let them out to pee.
Steve wants to know,
What color is Memphis?
Memphis is considered a gray and white.
Some people also call it silver and white.
But on her papers, it's listed as gray and white.
Oakley, of course, is a black and white.
Shelby is a sable and white.
Gabja wants to know,
How do you greet guests into your home when there's this much fur?
Well, we have rules in our house.
One, the dog lives here. You don't.
The other thing is, vacuum.
You know when people are coming over?
Vacuum.
If you don't know when people are coming over, vacuum anyway.
Then, if people show up, there won't be so much fur.
Jordan wants to know,
Should you feed your dog a breakfast, lunch and dinner?
Or just a lunch and dinner?
Or just dinner?
Actually, you should feed your dogs at least twice a day.
Even if it's only little tiny amounts.
If you feed them a little bit in the morning,
then you can feed them more at dinner time.
The biggest reason for doing this is,
if you only feed them once a day,
they tend to gulp their food and that can lead to bloat.
So, you should be feeding them twice a day.
Our girls each get a little bit in the morning.
Like, maybe a quarter of a cup of food.
Then, they get their regular dinner when we get home from work.
We got some mail!
Memphis is checking it out.
We got a box from Timmy.
With all kinds of stuff in it.
Timmy says,
Oakley gets the treats.
You might have to share those though.
And then, Memphis gets the treat ball.
Which is one of these cool balls,
that you can put treats in and they fall out of.
I might have to put some in there for her in a second.
Shelby gets a green squiggy ball!
Here Shelby!
She's like, but I want a treat first.
I'm sure she'll play with it.
She has an orange one like this too, that she really likes.
Yeah! That's my Shelby!
We got a Christmas card,
some awesome bracelets
and some drawings from
Bella and her dogs,
Sophie and Tito.
Isn't that cool?
That was cute! I think that went on there.
Then, a cool cute drawing.
Here's a letter.
Whoops!
Some pictures of our girls, all the way from Spain.
We got a Christmas card from Caroline,
Mark and the rest of her family.
All the way from England.
They sent some awesome photos of their dogs.
We got a Christmas card and I got a birthday card.
We got these two awesome bracelets.
The blue ones for me and the red ones for Jamie.
From Jessica and her dog, Echawa.
We got a letter from Hannah
with a cute little drawing of a Husky.
Hannah wants to know, what are our top five favorite dog breeds?
I don't know!
Huskies, St. Bernard's,
Pavillons...
We like...
We like all dogs! It's hard to pick five.
I can pick three. How's that?
We got a letter from Emily with some awesome drawings.
There's one of Shiloh.
One of Oakley.
One of Shiloh and Shelby.
One of Shilohly, Shiloh and...
Yes! Shilohly, Shiloh, Shelby
and Oakley
and Memphis.
One of Oakley and Memphis.
She says Oakley is her favorite.
You hear that Oakley? You are her favorite!
We got a Christmas card from Michelle in California.
We got some awesome drawings from Cheyenne.
This one is of Memphis.
This one is of Shelby.
This one is of Oakley.
Then, one of Shiloh.
Up in the clouds with wings.
We got a letter from Sadie.
Sadie wants to know how to teach her dog not to bite.
She says, the ouch trick doesn't work.
Well, if the ouch trick
is not working for you,
maybe try bitter apple spray.
You can spray it on your hands.
That might work.
We got a letter from Natalie with some cool drawings.
We got a letter from MJ in Michigan.
They had a few questions.
One of the questions was,
what do you think of letting your puppy sleep in bed with you
the first few nights when they come home?
You probably don't want to do that because
they could develop separation anxiety because of that.
It's best to let them sleep in your crate near you.
It doesn't mean that eventually
you can't let them sleep in the bed,
but you don't really want them to get attached to that right when they get home.
Then it's harder for them to be
away from you when you do have to leave.
We got a letter from Noah.
Check it out! They got our Christmas card.
Look what else! A spirit hood for Christmas.
That's awesome!
That husky spirit hood looks
kind of like Memphis' ears.
I have that same husky spirit hood.
We got a letter from Jemma
with this awesome drawing of all the girls.
I love how you even got their collar colors correct.
That's awesome! Jemma wants to know
if we're going to go camping again soon.
Yeah, but probably not until the snow melts
because we don't have a generator for our camper.
She also wanted to know, how old is Memphis?
Memphis is nine and a half months old.
We got a letter and this awesome coloring
from Trinity.
We got a letter and a drawing
from Jade.
We got a letter from Adam with a cute little drawing.
Adam wants to know if we plan on getting more
huskies. I'm sure in the future
we'll get more huskies. Right now I think
three is about the perfect number.
We got this card from California that
unfortunately got tore in the mail.
It says, Gone to the Snow Dogs on the back of it.
We got this awesome Merry Christmas card
from this very happy family from
Deacon, Vanessa, Brinley,
Kaden and Kaya.
Look at how pretty!
Look at how cute those kids are!
Such a happy looking family!
