We arrived at Nostimo Greek Kitchen, which offers so many favorites that you can eat on the streets of Greece! They have gyros, souvlaki, falafel, hummus, tzatziki, and much more! I met up with Yanni from Nostimo Greek Kitchen and followed him inside.
The restaurant’s interior is very colorful, with lots of white and blue, the colors of the Greek flag and the main two colors of Greece! There’s a mural of Santorini that also features Pegasus, the winged horse, and Poseidon with his trident.
In the kitchen, Yanni started cooking up some Greek favorites! He started by oiling and grilling some Greek pita bread, which is thicker than regular pita bread. It’s chewier and makes for a better gyro. He sliced the meat off the spit and then fried some fries to add inside!
Then, he started on the souvlaki, which included pork, chicken, and bacon-wrapped chicken varieties. They’re very similar to pinchos or kebabs. To the fries, Yanni added paprika, browned oregano, salt, garlic powder, and oregano. He put the souvlaki on the grill and basted them with a lemon dipped in a sauce made from olive oil, water, salt, oregano, garlic, and other spices.
Next, he built the gyro by taking the grilled pita and adding tzatziki, tomatoes, onions, parsley, meat, fries, and lemon vinaigrette. You have to eat a gyro when you go to Athens! Then, he made a second gyro, as well as an authentic salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, kalamata olives, green bell peppers, parsley, lemon vinaigrette, extra virgin olive oil, oregano, and salt.
Then, he made Greek fries and added in some pita with tzatziki and hummus. The Greek fries contained chicken, feta, greco de gallo, and tzatziki. He plated the souvlaki on a bed of fries with pita bread on the side, fresh parsley, lemon wedges, and tzatziki. For dessert, we’d have baklava with Nutella and powdered sugar on top!
We started with the salad, which had a nice block of feta cheese on it. It was so refreshing and I loved the crumbly cheese! The onions and kalamata olives were amazing as well. The onions had an amazing crunch!
Then, we moved on to the pita with tzatziki and hummus. The tzatziki was really amazing. It’s like Greek ketchup—they put it on everything! I also loved the hummus. Everything was super fresh and very tasty. Next, we had the gyro, which had both lamb and beef on it. It was so delicious and filling, with a nice crunch. I loved the contrast of the bread, tzatziki, the crunchy onions, and crispy fries. I loved it with the spicy sauce!
Then, we tried the souvlaki! First was the bacon-wrapped chicken, which was rich, fatty, and bursting with flavor. The pork souvlaki with the spicy sauce and the tzatziki was fantastic, and great with the pita as well.
Then, we jumped on the Greek fries! They were loaded with toppings. They’re like Greek nachos! The flavors are unreal. The chicken, fries, Greco de gallo, tzatziki, parsley, and tomatoes together we so mouthwateringly good! It was another full meal!
Finally, we ended with the Nutella baklava, which was full of walnuts and lots of layers of dough. It was the most walnuts I’ve ever had in baklava! They were fantastic with the Nutella and dough! My favorite baklava of all time!

Next up we have the gyro. Look at this monster.
Good afternoon everyone. I hope you're all doing amazing. This is David Hoffman from David's
Binia coming at you from Wynwood, Miami, Florida with my father. Today we're so excited because
we're going to be eating Greek street food. Everything you can eat on the streets of Greece
here at Nostimo Greek Kitchen. Gyros, souvlaki, falafel, hummus, tzatziki. Everything.
What's up man? How you doing? Doing good man. Thank you for having me. Thanks for coming and
I can't wait for you guys to come inside and see all the great Greek food we have.
Let's do it. Mask on. Mask on. Let's go inside. So as soon as you walk into the restaurant as
you can see really colorful space. This right here is Santorini. Over here we have the horse
with the wings. That is Pegasus from Clash of the Titans. And then over here we have Poseidon
with his staff the Trident. I mean super colorful. This is what the Greek islands are all about. Very
blue, white. David come on back man. Let me show you a few of our specialties. So we're going to
get grilling on some souvlakis. We're going to make some gyros. We're going to show you our tzatziki,
our hummus, our falafel. So let's get everything ready and let's start cooking.
All right we're going to start with our pita bread here. Our extra virgin olive oil from Greece.
And one thing I want to mention is that this pita bread is a little thicker than the regular pita
breads. And that's just the way the Greeks do it right. Creates a better chew, creates a better
gyro. Much better product in the long run. Very traditional Greek pita. Did you ever eat a gyro
in Greece? Never. Never? Never. What? I am in Athens once and I didn't have a chance to eat a gyro.
Can you believe it? Oh my god. My wife loves this. She always adds the fries. The fries have to go
inside. We're going to drop them right now and continue the making of our gyro. So here we have
the three most traditional, most authentic, best tasting souvlaki's in Greece. Right here we have
our pork. Right here we have our chicken. And here is the koto bacon which is chicken wrapped in
bacon. So in there we had paprika, ground oregano, salt, a little bit of garlic powder, and oregano.
So what's a souvlaki? Basically very similar to a pincho or kebab. Here we have three different
variations or varieties right? So the chicken, the pork, and the chicken with bacon wrapped. I can't
wait for the bacon wrap man. That looks so good. Here we have our secret basting sauce. Comes with
a little olive oil, a little bit of water, some oregano, some garlic, and some more spices that
I can't really tell you about. All right David what do you say we make a gyro? Grab our Greek
wrapper. Grab our fresh pita bread with oregano that we just made. Here's our tzatziki which has
garlic, dill, olive oil, some tomatoes, some onions, a little bit of parsley. Time for the good stuff.
That looks so good. And of course some french fries. I put a little bit of our lemon vinegar
right on there. As he said the gyro is basically the bread, the pita bread. Then he puts tzatziki
which is like the Greek ketchup. Basically it's yogurt, diced cucumbers, dill, garlic, and a little
bit of lemon right or lime. And then he adds onions, tomatoes, the french fries, and parsley. And then
you have it like a big wrap. It is so good. It's super filling. When you go to Greece, Athens, you
have to eat this on the streets. Greek horiatiki salad or village salad which comes with tomatoes,
cucumbers, onions, green bell pepper, a little bit of parsley. We like to put some of our lemon
vinaigrette on there. Extra virgin olive oil, oregano, and a good amount of salt. The salad's
ready, souvlaki is ready, gyro is ready. But now what he's gonna do is gonna make some Greek fries
which are basically french fries with some meat and some other stuff. We're gonna be dropping our
fries right now. So here we have two of our most popular spreads, our tzatziki and our house-made
hummus. Everything all made daily in-house. And these fries are with chicken and baby chicken,
greco de gallo. Now we're plating the souvlaki. What he did is he put french fries, then he put
all the souvlaki on top, pita bread on the side, add some parsley, and now he's gonna add also some.
Can't forget the tzatziki. No souvlaki without tzatziki. And this is Greek baklava. What he did
is he added nutella on top, powdered sugar. Perfection. Wow. Alright so this is our Greek
feast. We have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven things. Souvlaki, Greek salad, Greek fries,
baklava with nutella, hummus, tzatziki, both with pita bread, and the gyro. The gyro. This is the
ultimate Greek street food. But I think what we have to do is to start off with the salad, right?
Right. That's how you usually start off. So we're gonna do that. Let's break this. Oh that amazing
feta cheese right there. Grab the big piece. Super fresh. Love how the cheese crumbles.
It's an amazing salad. Yeah I mean I feel like the difference, like I said before to you,
is the tzatziki salad is basically just like tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta cheese. This has a
little bit more stuff. For me it's always feta cheese and tomato and some green or red peppers.
Yeah and with this weather, I mean with this scorching heat, it's perfect. I love the onions.
Nice crunch with the olives too. These black olives. They're from Kalamata. Kalamata olives.
Is that a region? So any olive that comes from there is Kalamata or is there a variety? No I
think they just have the best. Yeah right. Yeah it's like where the best olive oil comes from too.
This is a great way to like sort of break your fast, right? Now I think we should move on.
You want some of the cheese? I want more. I know the cheese is addictive. And it's so fresh you know with
the heat. All right guys so we're taking it slow. We're breaking into the food, right? So we start
with the salad. Next we have tzatziki, which is basically yogurt with cucumber, some dill, and over
here we have hummus which is chickpea mash, right? And you always have pita bread. So I'm gonna just
dip it right here. Just dip it, right? Yeah. Looks good. This on everything. Everything in Greece,
you add tzatziki. Have to try their hummus. It's very good. Oh man. Everything is addictive here.
And it's fresh. That's the good thing about it. That's like, that's how you can really tell
the difference in the food. Frozen or fresh, you know? I'm taking all your tzatziki. I love the
dill in this one. Perfect dipping sauces, right? You can do it with the souvlaki. For me the souvlaki
always goes with tzatziki. The gyro always with tzatziki. Hummus is a, you know, a good
acompañante or a good side. Good side. But also this tzatziki is like, it's addictive really. I
want to eat more and more and more because it's so good and it's so natural and fresh. And the
pita bread. Next up we have the gyro. Look at this monster. Lamb and beef. You have tzatziki,
tomatoes, onion, french fries, and the thick pita. Okay. You should go first because you know what?
It's your first time, right? No, I think you've had a gyro before. You just haven't had it in
It's a lot in there, huh? Yeah, yeah. Have more. Go ahead. This is all for us. Oh, I have to.
So delicious. So filling. Crunchy. I love the bread. Just the bread combination between the
bread, tzatziki, the crunch of the onions, and then the meat. And right here they have some of
the fries. And the fries, right? I didn't get to try the fries. I'll probably try it now.
Good, huh? So we also have this sauce here. It's a spicy sauce that they have. Okay. Dip it right
there. With the spices. A little bit. It's a little hot. You want to try it? No, no thank you. I'll try
this part with the fries. Get some hot sauce, man. Another bite. I'm not that adventurous.
What I love about a gyro is it has so many different flavors. And it's a meal. It's all you
need, right? You don't need anything else. Yeah. If you eat that, you're done. And when you go to
the beaches in Greece, like if you're hungry, just go grab one of these. That's it. Here,
I think you should try that. No, you're crazy. A little bit. Me voy a morir. No, how spicy?
I want to kill you. Okay, dad. Now that you've had a taste of me, you have to jump on to the
souvlaki. So we have three different ones. The chicken. This one's the pork. And then over here,
we have chicken wrapped with bacon, which looks incredible. And then obviously, a little bit of
tzatziki. We have the spicy sauce. What do you want to try first? I don't know. Shall we go for
the gold? Yeah, let's go for the gold. All right, so let's try this one. Bacon.
I'll be honest. Good? Man, that bacon.
Oh, wow. It's just so many flavors, right? The bacon, the chicken, the sauce, the olive oil,
everything. The juice from the bacon. It's like cooked into it. But then what do you have to do
here? And I love bacon. So yeah, you should separate it, right? Separate. And I'm just
going to dip it into the hot sauce. It's funny because I didn't think it was so hot,
but it hits you later. And it's a, it's more of a liquidy sauce, not too thick.
Want some more of that one? Or do you want to jump on the chicken? Well, we can try a little
bit more of this one. Even better. You know, my dad was asking, like, why do you call it,
you know, like Greek ketchup? I'm like, dude, because it makes everything better.
This one I'm going to do with the pork. I'm going to put it straight in here.
I can't talk to you while I'm eating. It's too good. So I think what you should do,
dad, is maybe grab a piece of the pita and use it to pull it off. That's the way to do it.
That's the way to do it. And then you go and you dip. That's the way to do it. If you want,
here you go. Are you going to give it to me? Okay, let's see. I'll get myself another piece.
So we tried the chicken with bacon wrap, but we still haven't tried chicken alone.
So I'm going to do it with the hot sauce this time. Just like that.
You're crazy. You always do these things. I mean, yellow sauce. This looks awesome.
Good contrast there. Nice and creamy. A little heat. I love this place. And we didn't even try
the fries. Oh, we have plenty of fries. Look. I know. You know what? We should go with those
next up. Bam. And this is the Greek fries. Look at that. Greek fries. And this one has chicken.
You can get it with lamb. Yes, you can get it with lamb or chicken. So basically it's like
Greek nachos. So you just jump in. Ready? Ready. Just dive in. Grab a little bit of everything.
Get some of the chicken if you can find it. It's there broken in pieces.
So you just dig in. And whatever sticks, you eat. So many flavors. We have the chicken,
the french fries, the feta cheese, tzatziki, parsley, tomato. Oh, and you have the
grieko de gallo. Grieko de gallo. But it's definitely, it feels like you're eating Greek
nachos. I think you should probably cut it up. I've never seen this before in my life. Me either.
Is this something that they do here only? Then they invented it. This is a meal. It's so good.
I'm gonna do the tzatziki side and then go to the heat side.
Messy. Good nachos. Messy. Messy and fun. But I mean, I think it needs a little more tzatziki.
More tzatziki. Yeah. All right, dad. The grand finale. The baklava. And this baklava is a little
different because he added Nutella on top. Look at this. What a masterpiece. So we're gonna cut
this in half because I don't think we can eat the whole thing. No, we can't. I'm gonna take this to
my wife. Look at this. All right. So straight down the middle. Look at that. It looks juicy.
The walnuts. Super thick layers of walnuts and you have the dough in between. Okay, dad. Get
whichever piece you want. I cut up right here. This one. No joke on the walnuts. And this is the
most walnuts I've ever had in baklava. And I love it. Love walnuts. And Nutella really binds together
with the dough. What is this? It's ridiculous. Look at this. This baklava, guys. I gotta say,
it's one of my favorites of all time. So good. Chunky walnuts. But I'm done. I'm staying away
from it. You can't. This is for my wife. Take it home. Yeah. So what do you think, dad? Amazing?
Amazing. Everything is just, you know, it's a high, super high quality, fresh. I mean, to think
of this as street food, it's hard to believe, but it's super, super fresh. I mean, most of this is
basically street food on the streets of Greece. You know, obviously the gyro, souvlaki, the fries,
the salad is just a staple. You eat that all the time. And then the hummus, tzatziki and pita bread.
I mean, you have to eat this food in the baklava, guys. I mean, this is just incredible. And I gotta
say, sanostimo means tasty, delicious, and that's exactly what it was. So, guys, I hope you enjoyed
this video. Next time you find yourself in Miami, come out to Wynwood and come to sanostimo. Awesome?
