Surprising my dogs with a huge gift! This is something I have been wanting to invest in for my dogs for a long time. You all know, we have Siberian Huskies, and if you have watched for a while, then you know, Siberian Huskies are very active dogs. I could walk these dogs 10 miles a day, and it's not enough! So we need to find ways to keep our dogs happy and active, and this slatmill is going to work great for that! This is basically a non-motorized treadmill for dogs. This particular dog treadmill is from Firepaw and is called the FIrepaw Phoenix Dog Treadmill Slatmill. You may have seen these on We Run Dogs, as I think theirs are also Firepaw brand. And yes, I know not everyone can afford one of these for their dogs, and it even took me a bit to save up for one, but I am so glad I did! 🐾 Get your own Firepaw Slatmill here: https://firepaw.eu/product-category/tread-mills/?ref=1010 (this is an affiliate link)
Eleanor's like, I can run on this thing.
Oh, guess what we're doing today?
These dogs are so unsuspecting,
but they have a really cool surprise showing up.
I am so excited to share this with you guys.
I'm so excited to show you what we got for the dogs.
It should be here any minute now.
Oh my goodness.
You have no idea what is in store.
Oh my goodness.
The truck is here with the delivery.
The box has arrived.
It's a good size box.
Oh my goodness.
Are we really gonna open this thing today?
Let's find out.
All right, we got the box open.
Oh my goodness.
Look at that.
Okay, that's cool.
And this one should say Fire Paw.
Check that out.
Oh my goodness.
That though, that's cool.
What do you think that is?
That's for you guys.
Now, assembly.
That's heavy.
We got it in the house though.
And we have harnesses on.
Are we ready for the grand reveal?
Eleanor's got her harness on.
Check this out.
So if you guys have never seen one of these before,
this is a Slat Mill.
Look, it's got our logo on it.
It's a Fire Paw Slat Mill.
It is not staying in the living room.
We have another place we're going to be putting it.
I wanted to give you guys a little view of it real quick.
So this is pretty much,
it is a non-motorized treadmill.
It's called a Slat Mill.
See, it's called a Slat Mill because these are slats
and they roll along.
You can see, I can really easily push it
and it goes kind of at its own speed.
It has a nice brake right here.
So I can stop it from moving.
We're going to put Eleanor on it.
See what she thinks.
You want on here, Eleanor?
So Eleanor did one of these in Canada and she loved it.
Good job, Eleanor.
Come on, let's go.
Give me your hand, let me know, okay?
Yeah, yeah.
Let's go, let's go.
Good job.
Here, here, there you go.
Treats?
There you go, yes.
So we're going to see if she'll do it again.
Come on, let's get on it.
So you can see here, there's a spring here.
We're going to connect it to her harness here.
And then for safety, there's a hook here
that we're going to hook to the front of her harness here.
Let me, let me show you.
So you can see it hooked on the front of her harness.
What that's going to do is it's going to make it
so that she can't get too far back
so that her legs fall off the back.
And with this, she can't get too far forward
so that she comes off the front.
She pretty much has to run right where it is.
I also want to show you guys
which is really cool under here.
See these big springs?
The whole thing has suspension.
You want to go?
You want to run?
Yeah?
You want to do it?
Come on, go.
Eleanor, hike, hike, hike.
Hike, hike, hike.
Yes.
So you can see she can control her own speed
all by herself.
She's kind of just doing a walk.
Yeah, you want to go for a walk?
You want to go hike, hike, hike?
Hike, hike, hike, hike, hike.
She can speed up if she wants to.
She can slow down if she wants to.
Is that so fun?
And I know a lot of people are going to be like,
why don't you just take your dog for a walk?
I don't know if you know this,
but I have Siberian Huskies and they are full of energy
and I could walk them 10 miles a day
and it's still not going to be enough.
So this is just an extra tool in our house
to use with the dogs.
It's also going to be good for Memphis
to walk on for physical therapy for her leg.
You know, on days when it's raining
or days when it's too cold outside for us,
the dogs can still get some exercise.
Eleanor, you're doing it.
Look at them feet.
Yes.
Let me give you a side view, you guys.
There's a view from the side.
You can see her legs are moving
and you can see she can't go far enough
back to where she can fall
because that front is going to keep her right in place.
You're doing so good.
Good job.
I have to give you a cookie.
All right, go, go, go.
Hike, hike, hike.
There's also a speedometer.
We can see how fast she's going,
which of course right now is not that fast.
She's like, I don't need to run that fast yet.
She's learning.
As she learns and gets more confident
and realizes that she's not going to run off the end of it,
I'm certain she will start going faster.
Yes.
Do we want to let the other dogs try it?
Okay, we'll let somebody else try.
Yeah, we'll let somebody else try.
Okay, now Kira has never been on one of these.
She has been on a carpet mill.
You're doing it.
Hike, hike, hike.
Good girl.
And a regular treadmill.
She didn't like the motorized treadmill,
but she's never been on one of these.
So with Kira, what I'm going to do
is I'm going to sit here in front of her
and I'm going to put my hand here and start to move this.
So she can realize that it moves.
And once she realizes that it moves,
she can choose to walk at whatever pace she wants.
I got to go get my bag of treats, right?
She's like, hmm, this is interesting.
So when you're introducing a dog to one of these,
you definitely want to take it slow.
Be very gentle with it.
Yeah, what do you think?
She's like, I think you need to get me
some really high value treats or I'm not doing it.
Yeah, is that it?
All right, let me go get you some cookies.
All right, I got the snacks.
Oh yeah, I got them.
Hike, hike, hike.
Good job.
Yes, good girl.
See, just get used to it.
I won't make you stay on it long the first time.
She's doing it, her little feet.
She's like, I'm getting used to it, guys.
I'm getting used to it.
You want a snack?
Come on up here.
Come on.
Just make it to there.
Make it to where my hand is.
You can.
I know you can.
You can.
Reach, reach, reach, Kira, reach.
Good girl.
She's like, I don't know.
This is very new, very new.
So like I said, with Kira, we're going to take it slow
and slowly get her used to it.
A little bit each day, and eventually you'll
get used to it.
You're so stinking cute.
I see that tail going.
I have the fishy.
You want to try for the fishy?
OK, you gotta walk, all right?
You caught on so quick.
You're like, oh, all I have to do is walk?
I can walk.
Good girl.
You walk however fast you want.
Good job.
Yeah.
You want a fishy?
Want to go hike, hike, hike?
Say hike, hike, hike, hike, hike.
Hike, hike, hike, hike, hike.
You don't have to run.
You can just walk.
Here, look.
There's a fish.
It's right there.
I'm going to let you have it in just a second.
I really will.
You come closer.
Come closer.
Look at you go.
Yeah, here you go.
Good job.
She's like, I'm going to run for that fish.
Good job, girl.
I won't make you stay on it long.
I know you just did physical therapy yesterday.
But look, even Memphis can do it.
Look at you go.
I'm missing you.
She really is.
For one little treat.
You're on a mission for that one treat.
Daddy, can you give me that treat?
Daddy, give me that treat.
Oh, thanks, dad.
That was totally worth it.
I loved it.
That was great.
Maybe I will keep walking for no reason.
This is kind of fun.
Hi, Kira.
Eleanor was like, put me back on it.
This is really fun.
I really like it.
So everybody has tried it.
Everybody can do it.
Kira is a little bit leery.
But I think over time, she'll really enjoy it.
Memphis did pretty good on it, too.
And of course, then there's Eleanor.
Eleanor, hike, hike, hike.
Hike, hike, hike.
Yep.
You are going to be the master of the fire paw.
She's like, I'm going to be the master of this slap mail.
I'm going to run so fast.
I'm going to do the best.
Hike, hike, hike.
Ready?
Here, I'll help you up.
There you go.
Yes.
All right, you guys.
So like I said, if you guys would like to get your own,
this, I also want to note, this is a size large.
And yes, it is very large.
It does have wheels on the back.
That makes it a little easy to move.
They do come in a couple of different sizes.
There's a medium.
And then, there is one for smaller dogs as well.
And then, fire paw also makes a carpet mail as well.
Which, like I said, we have one of those.
We actually started out with a carpet mail.
But I like this so much better.
Look at her.
She's like, yep, I'm going to go for a walk.
This is the greatest.
I love it.
Do you love it?
I love it.
This is awesome.
Is it great?
I knew you'd like it the most.
All right, you guys.
As always, we hope you enjoyed today's video.
Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for subscribing.
Stay positive, dream big.
And we will see you again soon.
Say goodbye, Pawdience.
Oh my gosh, I know you're doing so good.
