Delicious Chocolate Covered Strawberry Dump Cake!
What do you do when you win a camping raffle that comes with 12 cans of pie filling? You get baking! Today on Snow Dogs Cooking, we are making a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Dump Cake. This recipe is incredibly simple, requires zero mixing (seriously, don't mix it!), and tastes just like a decadent chocolate-covered strawberry. It is the perfect way to use up canned pie filling and impress your friends with a dessert that looks fancy but takes minutes to prep. Let's see if this Devil's Food Cake combination is a winner!
Ingredients
2 cans Strawberry Pie Filling
1 box Devil's Food Cake Mix
1 cup Butter (2 sticks)
3 tbsp Sugar
Fresh Strawberries (for topping)
Non-stick Baking Spray (with flour)
Tips and Tricks
🛑 The Golden Rule: DO NOT MIX the ingredients! Layer them exactly as shown.
✂️ Cut a small hole in the corner of your cake mix bag to sprinkle it more evenly over the pie filling.
🧈 Melt your butter and do a "slow pour" to ensure it covers as much of the dry cake mix as possible.
🍦 Serving Suggestion: This is absolutely amazing served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
🍎 Variation Idea: Try using Apple Pie filling with a Spice Cake mix for a fall flavor!
🍫 Variation Idea: Raspberry Pie filling with Chocolate Cake mix is another great combo.
🔪 If your fresh strawberries are out of season or white in the middle, just trim the edges and use the red parts for the top!
The Kitchen Helpers
Of course, we couldn't do this without the pack! Today, Miss Ma'am is working hard holding down the rug in her special corner. The "Second Best Kitchen Helper" had to come in for an inspection, and even Kira (the Third Best Helper) came in from the living room for a taste test.
We did a "Strawberry Tax" test today! It turns out Kira loves a strawberry slice, even if they aren't the peak-season Alpena strawberries. We learned that the pups enjoy the fruit prep just as much as we enjoy the chocolate cake result (sorry guys, no chocolate for dogs!).
