Easy Maple Brown Sugar Cookies Recipe With Maple Icing!
Welcome back to the kitchen! Today, Jess and Jamie are whipping up a batch of incredibly delicious Maple Brown Sugar Cookies, complete with a homemade maple icing glaze. These cookies are soft, rich, and packed with that cozy autumn flavor we all love. Plus, we’ve got all the "Kitchen Helpers" in the house, including some special treats for the pups while we enjoy our human cookies!
Ingredients
2 and 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda (floof powder!)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
1 room temperature egg
1 teaspoon maple extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup dark brown sugar (or a mix of dark and light)
1/3 cup pure maple syrup (we used our homemade syrup!)
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
For Icing
1 cup powdered sugar (sifted for the icing)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/3 cup pure maple syrup
Tips and Tricks
🍁 Use real maple syrup, not the artificial "sugar water" stuff, for the best authentic flavor.
🍁 Sift your powdered sugar for the icing to avoid those hard little clumps that are impossible to whisk out.
🍁 Dark brown sugar provides a much richer, deeper flavor than light brown sugar for this specific recipe.
🍁 If you chill your dough overnight, let it sit out for 30 to 45 minutes before scooping so it's easier to work with.
🍁 Don't over-mix the dough once you add the flour, or your cookies might turn out gummy instead of soft.
🍁 You can swap the pecans for walnuts, or leave the nuts out entirely if you prefer a smooth cookie.
🍁 Use a "cookie baller" (scoop) to ensure all your cookies are the same size so they bake evenly.
Kitchen Helper Highlights
🐾 Best Kitchen Helper Ever wore her compression brace today to help her swollen ankle feel better.
🐾 Third Best Kitchen Helper (Kira) heard the oven sounds and immediately went to go hide.
🐾 Since the pups can't have maple nut cookies, they got their very own dog-safe cookies so they didn't feel left out.
🐾 Jamie stepped in as the official "bowl cleaner" since the dogs couldn't help with this one.
