I got Andy Stumpf coming into town.
He drew an Iowa tag and I'm prepping right now,
getting all my gear ready.
We're going to the vet plot.
It's rare that I haven't had wind for that stand,
but gonna go in there and take a decoy.
It's an awesome spot.
Rattling about every hour.
There's thick stuff all around
and looking to see if I could get a buck to come up
and put on a show for Andy
for his first whitetail here in the Midwest.
Get your bow up to draw.
He's six right there.
Hold on, just let him come.
Just let him get broadside.
Dude, that was a little long at full draw.
Nice.
That was the longest full draw in a long time.
I hope I was recording.
Dude, I was like, take him under the tree, draw back.
You told me to draw back.
Four minutes before he walked out.
To which I did.
I thought he was going to just dominate that thing.
Dude, why?
So, I was at full draw.
I was going to shoot him at 36.
And he started walking closer,
so because I'm an idiot and I don't want to ND,
I put my thumb on the correct side.
When he got to 20, I had put it on the other side
and was pulling through it as he jumped.
And I put it back on that side.
Dude, I thought he was just going to freaking flip,
like destroy that decoy.
He touched it and jumped?
Yeah.
And then he was right in between my two pins,
so I just split him and put one pin on top
and one pin on the bottom.
I definitely think you split him.
There was a lot of stuff gushing out.
T2 for the win, folks.
Give you a quick look at this setup.
I got a blind here.
I actually call this plot the vet plot.
So, it's cool.
And he got his buck here.
East wind, so that wind was very static,
but coming up like this,
the mist was blowing in our face this morning.
But a little bit of clover, old clover right here.
Clover's so easy and you just mow it and it works great.
Had the decoy at 25 yards and put it in a position
of where these bucks come from,
which is all this thick, thick cover.
They come up, they want to look at the decoy
and then get the wind.
It's exactly what happened.
And then once he got a sniff of it,
realized something wasn't right,
they normally will get away from it
and give it one last look.
And that's when Andy was able to make that shot.
But what a perfect little spot here.
Vet plot, killer spot set up for decoying
during this time of the year specifically.
This is awesome.
That's a good buck.
That's a fast.
Shit.
How does, that doesn't even compute.
This doesn't compute how that makes that.
Quartering hard, it's called a multiplier,
it's a T2 multiplier.
Congrats dude.
That's awesome.
what a sweet boy what's going on everybody so I'm here in Iowa hunting
for the first time back on my bow for the first time in the season jacked my
shoulder up a little bit but I'm back hunting with the guy who got me into
bowhunting in the first place which is awesome never done any mid Midwest
whitetail deer hunting so fully learning about how one should do this we were
talking about the conditions today very light and variable winds so probably
don't want to go deep into a property that you're gonna blow things out of
either on the way in or if the wind shifts or on the edge and talking about
success in the middle of the day as well at a time period where a lot of people
have gone home Dudley claims there's this magic hour of 11 o'clock I'm not
sure exactly what time he rattled but it was after 11 probably before 1120 10
minutes later I looked up and I saw this buck coming straight in walked right to
a tree which was by our decoy first time hunting deer with the decoy as well
forgot to mention that he walked up to the decoy snifter didn't really like
that jump but didn't run off so hooked around a little bit at the whole point
I'm telling you this story Dudley already told me to pull back so I'm at
full draw just waiting for an opportunity and deer stops at a distance
that was right in between my far pin and my close pin so I just split the two on
the animal he's quartering away him a little bit back but the angle was great
this t2 broadhead Dudley can post a picture about the entry wound I've never
seen something like this from an archery entry wound or actually a rifle entry
room for that matter good blood trail right out of the gate
followed him down 100 maybe 150 yards and he was piled up right there so first
Iowa whitetail deer what an awesome experience dude I'm so pumped for you in
the vet plot in the vet plot set up dreamed for this time of year and decoy
in the thickest of thick one little half acre a little bit of clover that keep
mode and a blind right there on the outskirts to make a call do some
rattling punch tags what are you looking at another buck coming no I just I mean
I do realize this is right about where he was he made five yards past us when
we shot he still realized where we were in relation to the whole thing playing
out so freakin sweet congrats bro Emma was awesome thanks for having me out
