Nike Alphafly 3 Review Alphafly 2 Comparison

You all gave me the thumbs up on the last shoe review to just get them done quick and fast,
so I'm keeping these pretty simple. Let me know if these are still working. I will keep
ripping them out, otherwise I can make them fancier, but don't you really want to just know
about the shoe? For those of you who are new here, I am Amanda Brooks of Run to the Finish.
I have been a running coach for over 12 years, and I have been a runner since 2002.
Oh my god, that's so good. Okay, so we have here the Nike Alpha Fly 3. Here is the two
for comparison, and I do actually think that comparison is useful here.
Big, big changes right here, so in the sole. So you can see in the two, we've got the cutout,
it leaves the AirPods a little bit more exposed. The big change in the three is now that the foam
is going all the way across the bottom of the foot. This does make it feel a little bit more
stable. I mean, technically you can still see there's a gap here, but that connection makes
it feel a little bit more stable. Some folks felt like the AirPods themselves were a little
bit better protected from any kind of issues. I honestly don't know where you're running that
you are puncturing the AirPods because I'm not taking these on a trail. The other thing you
will notice is they added some additional hard rubber right over the AirPods. Again,
stated for protection, I have seen some people say, I wonder if this isn't acting a little bit
like a second carbon plate and giving a little more spring even to the AirPod. I don't know.
I don't know about that, but cool. I don't know. AirPods have been around forever, right? But they
still work. So other updates. The other thing I actually noticed is one, the shoe is a little
bit easier to get on than version two, which is nice because they're tight. Almost everything in
Nike runs a little bit narrow. These are maybe not as narrow as say the Vaporfly, which I will
talk about in another video. The other piece I noticed was the tongue itself became a little
bit more narrow. So again, they're trying to take weight wherever they can. And here it's all a sock
like fit. So it's just the slightly thicker part over the tongue that came in a little bit. They
tried to take off anything that was a little bit harder. Weight, weight, weight, weight is the goal.
The heel, you can see how big that came out. They have streamlined that down.
Now when it comes to the feel of actually running in the shoe, I have heard a couple of different
opinions and some folks said they loved the Alphafly one, hated the two, and now they think
the Alphafly three is the absolute best thing ever. I thought the Alphafly two was pretty good. I
could really feel that spring and that bounce moving me forward. The Alphafly three is the same.
Now I have done testing in this where I am running mile pace, which is in the six minute range. I have
done tempos in this in the seven minute range. I have not run 26.2 miles in it. And I think that
might change your feeling a little bit. I don't know. So that's where I'm at with it.
Other thing to note here is how deep this groove is. So you see I can stick my fingers
all the way in there. This concerns me slightly as like an old on running shoe issue where you
used to get rocks stuck in there and I can imagine nothing worse than during the middle of my race
having a massive rock stuck in there. That absolutely happens running on the roads.
Not huge amounts of grip here because this is literally just foam. So there is no rubber over
this portion right here in the middle at all. I feel like these have a little bit more grip
to them, the version two. So this is not going to be super durable. And at least for me,
if it was a super wet race where I felt like the roads were a little bit slick,
I would probably be a little bit nervous. And even with what here is on the heel,
it is not a sticky rubber by any stretch of the imagination. So this is a good weather race day
shoe. I did not notice any issues with the heel on some of these carbon fiber, carbon plate shoes.
They've taken away so much that then the back will actually rub and cause a blister.
They do have just a tiny amount of padding here. And so I think that keeps it feeling pretty good.
You're still going to notice the arch. It is maybe not as pronounced as what was in the Alphafly 2,
but it's not going away. You're going to notice the arch when you put these on.
For me, that goes away while I'm running. I don't think about it. For other people,
that is a blister spot. So something to maybe know about yourself and be aware of.
Those are the majority of the changes that I can remember from doing all my testing and reviewing.
So, oh, the one other question I did get is the number on the side. And that's because this is
the quote prototype version. The women's has a different number than the men's has on it. And
so most of the photos you've seen in the press have all been the men's version. The women's
version is slightly lighter, but as far as I know, they're the exact same shoe. So I think it's only
lighter because you're looking at a different size. All right. Other questions, feel free to
drop them below. I will also drop links that give you all the specifications and any other details
that you might be looking for.
