Traditional German Easter wreath! Easy Easter recipes!
This Easter wreath is a true delight for the eyes and the palate. Fluffy yeast dough, refined with cardamom and vanilla, is lovingly shaped into a ring, decorated with chopped almonds, almond flakes and a delicate chocolate nest. Easy to prepare, it smells enticingly of Easter and brings a festive atmosphere to every table – perfect for the whole family as a sweet eye-catcher.
Recipe:
250 ml warm milk (1 cup).
500-550 g wheat flour (4 cups).
2 tablespoons of sugar (2 tablespoons).
5-6 g cardamom (1/2 teaspoon).
10 g vanilla sugar (1/2 teaspoon).
100 g Greek yogurt or sour cream (½ – ⅔ cup)
2 eggs + 1 egg yolk.
100 g butter (3 oz).
5-6 g salt (1/2 teaspoon).
13 g fresh yeast (1/2 oz).
For the filling:
100 g butter (3 oz).
For decoration:
Chopped almonds, almond
flakes
100g chocolate (approx. 3.5oz), 50-100g
cornflakes (approx. 1.34-3.5oz), chocolate eggs for
decoration (amount as desired). Knead the dough and
let it rest for 60 minutes.
Brush with the egg-milk mixture.
Bake at 180 °C (356 °F) for 35–40 minutes.
