BRINGING WOODEN MTB FEATURES TO THE CITY - URBAN NORTH SHORE IS SICK!

I've got my brand new Canyon and a collection of North Shore obstacles that we're going
to be placing around the city.
Today is going to be epic because we have a selection of North Shores on the top of
the van.
These are wooden platforms you can ride across on a mountain bike.
As you saw from the very first intro clip, it's going to be a very interesting day.
Let me pass some of these across then and we can sort of set them up in a manner that
might make gnarly features in and around an urban environment.
That's so big.
It's going to work though.
That's terrifying.
That's the worst idea ever.
Is that even safe to go across?
Oh, it's way worse than I thought it was going to be actually.
Oh my God.
At least he started with an insane one.
Let's put another one here and see what it's like.
Super urban North Shore.
That's such a gnarly feature now.
I've got my bike.
I don't even want to do it.
First urban bike park then.
See that's not that bad, but it's also terrifying because I've got to get up that bump, you
know.
Clear stage one then.
This is the scary bit, getting straight on here.
Oh, I'm scared.
This guy, straight up, guy underneath.
He doesn't care.
He's ready to witness the sickness.
Oh my goodness.
Hope you don't mind me riding over you mate.
Loved it you did.
Oh my God.
That was scary.
Cool.
It works then.
The plan actually worked.
We can make some ridiculous features today, can't we?
I've got the nervousness out of the way of that high bridge and the fact it didn't snap
makes me happy.
So I think we're going to put this one like this now.
We're going to ride North Shore up onto that.
We're then going to get to this, turn on this, which is a big drop there, kind of scary.
Round here, drop down onto Hopper Landing.
It's like the ultimate trail, it's so good.
Let's get that landing built.
I got a brand new Hopper Landing, so we're going to do a bit of magic straight from the
box.
Ready?
Here you go.
Whoa.
That's ridiculous.
Look at that.
It's kind of bundled into the wrong place here because it's just magic so fast.
Let's set up the next North Shore then.
There's a bit of crate here, which is quite helpful.
You go around.
It's all creaky and horrible.
A few moments later, we've got the landing in place of the longest and sickest urban
North Shore line, Northburn, it could be called, or North Street or Street Shore.
I don't know.
You guys can choose.
Let's get it.
Here we go.
Urban North Shore trail.
Sorry, mate.
Insanity has been sessioned so far, whatever that means.
We want to try one that looks kind of fun.
It's like not as gnarly, but could be enjoyable, like onto this, down to the bin, bin to wall,
trial back wheel, down to over the handlebars.
Yeah.
Cool.
Do you mean?
Yes.
Up here.
Oh, that's scary.
One.
Oh, no.
Off I go.
Lucky that weren't on there.
Oh, no.
Dab.
Here we go.
This is the hard bit here, though, now.
Where do I go?
You know?
There we go.
Pumped on those first finds, we're going to move it all onto the van now and get out
of here to another location.
I can't believe it.
We've just found a spot that I've never sessioned in my hometown.
It's going to be epic.
And that's the beauty of portable North Shore.
You're actually going to love it.
We're sort of going to hide what we're doing behind the van so that they don't come over
and kick us out before we finish.
We're going to get this out to make life easier.
All the gear and actually some sort of idea.
Try and get this down without anyone noticing.
Susan on aisle seven, can you please go and check out the disturbance in the car park?
That's Susan, aisle seven, disturbance car park.
I can feel this is going to be amazing.
Next one.
It's heavier, though, Louis.
That goes to there.
Then you're going to have to keep a big eye out on if anyone's coming because I could
get quite destructive down there if not.
That's quite a big drop, actually, isn't it?
Yeah, if I get out far enough, it should work.
Yeah.
I stopped dead, my poor body.
What's that?
Oh, a bike stunt.
Oh, OK.
We only managed to do it once, but I slammed.
Do you want to see it?
No, not really.
You don't want to see the clip?
You might as well.
I'd rather you don't.
We are going to go now.
Cool.
It's going to take like five minutes.
We got to grab everything.
Let's see that.
It looks so crap.
It was well painful.
I've even got a scrape in the seat.
It was like the easiest crash, but I've like cut everything and slammed, kicked out.
It's now the next morning.
So after that crash yesterday, my back well hurt.
We've come here.
Look, there's this sort of little den thing here at the skate park.
And I think if we put this against it, we can pedal up onto there and then down the next one.
It's going to be kind of scary getting up because of this.
It's just scary, isn't it?
It's all wobbly as well.
That's proper North Shore though.
Let's give that a go.
Oh my God, that's scary.
I'm going to have to hit that so fast to get up.
This is it.
North Shore.
Oh, yes.
Oh, yeah.
Easy.
Nice.
Another urban North Shore feature completed.
Next spot is an old classic and actually one of my favorite spots in town.
It's this green box.
We used to jump on with a ramp down into the landing behind the van.
Now we're going to go skinny up, skinny onto the van,
and then a bigger drop into a smaller landing there, which is going to be quite sketchy.
It's all just dangerous really, isn't it?
This whole game really.
Oh my God.
Quick.
Then this is going to go like that.
That's scary.
Classic Louis, is it clear?
That's quite going to be a heavy landing off here actually.
Not as heavy as the one yesterday.
Dropping.
Scary, that bit.
That is a heavy one.
Was that cool?
Like that?
Nice.
That was cool, wasn't it?
Quite a heavy impact.
My poor back after this.
That's actually like surprisingly big, the drop, every time you go off it,
especially when it's into just holes in the floor.
Let's have a look at that one.
Here we go, another lap.
That is a heavy one.
Well, that was sick, but that's about all we can do on that little setup,
so we're going to move on already and see what else we can find.
Final banger of this North Shore-ic session,
we've found this abandoned zone, which is perfect.
There's some crates, we've got the van, we've got this big block.
I'm going to park there, we're going to step up onto the back of the van
with the hopper landing, hopefully that works.
Big skinny, get your senses back on the roof,
down to that skinny wall, straight over the bars.
Let's set it up.
Oh, didn't see that.
This all makes it easier because you can just drag the stuff across,
you know, it's way better.
Oh, and this video is just a huge sort of kick to you guys
that say you've got nowhere to ride.
I'm literally making whistler everywhere.
That's scary, that one, isn't it?
Oh, that scares me on there.
Look, if we do that.
Right, that's set up now, so the first challenge will be...
Oh, we've got to put the ramp, forgot about that.
Foiling? Yeah, let's do... Oh, no.
I'm just going to pedal up to this and see if I can actually get onto that.
It's kind of scary, like I don't have the pop on this bike.
Right, I'm a bit nervous because that's the landing,
so there's no pop to it.
Should be fine.
Let's give it a go.
Oh.
How the hell do we do this, then?
Oh, I dabbed.
Oh, that's such a good one.
We've got to try and get onto here
and then along,
probably down to where you are, though.
Nice, that's sick.
That's a good, scary set up, actually.
Oh, no.
OK, we're across.
Yes!
Wow.
OK, we're across.
Yes!
That's a scary one.
That's unbelievable.
That section was well sick.
It's crazy what you can do with just three pieces of North Shore
and a van with a platform.
Finale, though, what we're going to do
is screw them together to make one big platform
and then make a sort of seesaw over there,
a classic North Shore feature.
Right, we've screwed them both together now
to make a massive North Shore.
Louis, if you can grab that end quick,
we'll put it on top of the fence.
It's going to be heavy.
Yeah, that will do.
It's going to be scary, actually.
Oh, that's proper North Shore.
Huge urban seesaw.
Oh, my God, that is gnarly.
It all slid.
I need to put a tie down on there.
Here we go.
The urban seesaw.
Oh, yes!
Stomped.
What an epic day of crazy urban features like this.
That's been so fun.
North Shore is a fundamental part of mountain biking,
so to be able to bring it into the city
has been an epic one.
If you want to see more crazy stuff like this,
let me know.
See you in the next one.
