Solo Wild Camping Tarp Tent suspended from a Tripod Frame Bushcraft Fun in the Forest!
Hi wild ones! I'm here with my tarp today and I'm gonna have a go at a suspended tarp tent.
So I've done about three tarp tents I think in the past all using my amazing trekking pole right in
the middle which has worked fantastically well. The only trouble is of course it does cut your
living space right in half because it's right in the centre of your tarp. So this time I'm
gonna try to make a tripod on the outside so it's gonna support the tarp from the outside
and gonna have lots of room underneath and I've also bought a lovely little traditional oil lamp
so that's really cool. Never used one before excited to try that it's gonna be lovely let's go.
The first thing I'm gonna do is to set the tarp out in the tent tarp formation, peg it in and then
I'm gonna find three nice bits of wood to try and make this tripod. Okay I've got some wood
I'm gonna saw these down I don't know what length I'm supposed to be doing really
So I'm just gonna guess I've got my silky, love my silky. I'm gonna try lashing these two together
and then see if I can join the third one on as well. I think they're definitely long enough
yeah I think if I can tie them together like this should work pretty well so I'm just digging these
end bits in to make it a bit more stable keep it nice and sturdy. Oh I love it. So usually I would have
from here at the top to the ground trekking pole right in the middle and that of course gets
right in the way so yeah so much space now. I don't know if you can make it out but there is so much
room in here like so much room it's amazing just not having that center pole makes such a difference
this is gonna be such a nice night. That is just a little bit of heaven. Right I'm gonna move in
I'm gonna get unpacked I'll show you around. So across here at the back I've got my bed set up
I'm probably when I go to sleep gonna move it so my head's near the door because I just like
having the fresh air but at the moment it's great there out the way and just you know if you wanted
to there is enough room to sleep this way around. So in here I've got my Rabocent 900, my floofy
Aloft, Trekology Aloft pillow, my Therm-a-Rest Ex-Therm Max Regular and it's all in an outkit
bivvy bag so I'll do that up and that will stop any bugs getting in and down this side I've got
all my gear so I've got my empty rucksack there I've got my big bag of floofy clothes there my
toiletries my electronics and filming stuff my food and my cook set and water near the door so
yeah I think we're all set up and I'm getting hungry so I'm gonna make some food soon
I've got a lovely chilli tonight so I've had a bit of a disaster with my oil lamp already
I don't know what happened with it it's like the oil itself ignited instead of just the wick and
then the whole wick just burnt away and I didn't bring any spare wicks so I've not been able to
fix it up that's a shame just have to sit there looking pretty no light in it dinner's nearly
ready yay wine cheers guys it's such a beautiful night tonight no rain there's a moon up there the
owls are out as well it's so gorgeous so relaxing that was absolutely gorgeous right new stuff that
I've got for today I've got a new little power bank it is an anchor one same as my other one
but this is the slim version so it's smaller thinner lighter so this will be good for my
little single overnighters but it won't be enough for my multi-night trips but one overnight just
takes a bit of weight off so yeah loving that my lantern which is busted up already somehow
don't know what's going on with that have a look at it when I get home and read guide about that
so I've been using my trangia as a little campfire which is quite nice actually although
it won't last for long I'll run out of fuel all right hot water's on a lovely hot chocolate
tonight so that'd be nice I've got a couple of little friends in my tarp already I've got little
spotter friends and little shield bug friends so they're very sweet making themselves right at home
it's quite mild tonight eight degrees at the moment and I don't think it's going to get much
colder either but I've still got my hot hands in my sleeping bag I'm not quite out of my winter
habits yet so I'll be nice and cozy in there I'm gonna finish my drink and then I'm gonna get to
bed it's getting a bit windy out there so I was gonna lay with my head out the door but I'm on a
very slight slope downhill so I don't want to lay with my head downhill I can't lay like that
so I'm gonna lay like this that's fine and because I'd rather have my face sort of away from this
I'm sticking out the door a little bit and that's fine because I've got the booby bag
booby bags are amazing you just lay out in the rain and it's fine so really cozy
it's really nice just laying here listening to the wind
night guys sweet dreams the deer are out again hello dear friends morning you guys
didn't sleep very well last night nothing campy really is just didn't want to sleep for some
reason that's fine it's really nice listening to the little bit of rain
on the birdsong this morning it's beautiful it's over brekkie I reckon
hey breakfast oh it's raining let's go in so cozy in here I'm gonna finish my coffee guys and then
I'm gonna get going so thank you so much for watching and I will see you next time for a
can't wait take care guys bye
