The House That Became a Stage for Centuries of Stories
#ZwarteFlesResidence #BelgianArchitecture #HistoricRestoration
What does it take to revive a 17th-century house without erasing its soul?
Zwarte Fles Residence, located in the heart of a Belgian village, is a powerful example of how history and contemporary living can coexist beautifully. Once a country home, later a café and restaurant, this four-century-old building has been carefully restored to reclaim its original identity — while quietly embracing modern life.
Original window proportions, traditional façade colors, and historic details were thoughtfully revived. Inside, soft natural materials and balanced light create a calm, timeless atmosphere. At the rear of the property, a discreet contemporary volume introduces contrast — not through dominance, but through respect.
This is not about dramatic transformation.
It’s about rediscovering what was always there.
Past and present. Balance and contrast. Memory and evolution.
