Living Above the Valley: A Home That Floats Between Glass and Landscape

Mirador House is a 190-square-meter hillside residence in Ecuador designed as a lightweight intervention that carefully preserves the existing landscape. Instead of altering the terrain, the architects elevated a prefabricated steel-and-glass structure above the slope, minimizing impact on vegetation while opening the home to panoramic valley views. A modular plywood system organizes the interior, integrating storage, sliding partitions, and a central multifunctional core that contains the kitchen, living room storage, and services. Completed in a short construction period, the project combines transparency, efficiency, and environmental sensitivity, creating a house that frames its surroundings while maintaining a restrained architectural presence.
