Why This Mercury M250 Is One of the Rarest Trucks We've Built
Walking you through this incredibly rare 1966 Mercury M250 crew cab before it heads home to its owner. This Canadian-market workhorse gets a full 30-minute tour covering the supercharged 5.8L engine, custom 4x4 chassis, Icon suspension, and the first-ever FFG slickside crew cab interior kit.
Mercury M250 trucks were only sold in Canada and production ended in 1968. Crew cab versions are extremely rare—some sources say only six 1967 M250 crew cabs were ever produced, making this 1966 slickside crew cab potentially even rarer. This truck started life as a work truck up in Canada and shows honest patina with original blue paint peeling through the orange exterior.
Roman wanted to keep the raw exterior character while building a safe, reliable truck for his family. We focused on what matters: new custom 4x4 chassis, modern drivetrain, upgraded interior, and Icon active suspension. The result is a truck that rides smoother than a new F-250 with one-finger steering at 60 mph.
Under the hood is a 2014 GT500 drivetrain—supercharged 5.8L Trinity motor pushing serious power through a Tremec 6-speed sequential shift manual transmission. The divorced transfer case setup retains the original bulletproofed NP205 that Roman wanted to keep. We added air conditioning, rewired the entire electrical system, and upgraded the plastic components to aluminum so nothing leaves him stranded.
The chassis is a complete custom FFG 4x4 setup with Currie F9 axles front and rear, triangulated four-link suspension, Icon 2.5-inch CDEV shocks, and front and rear sway bars. Jason walks under the truck and breaks down the steering components from RPM—heavy-duty rock crawling-grade parts that eliminate any flex or wandering. The chassis is bare metal clear-coated to match the honest, raw character of the exterior.
Inside, this truck features the first-ever FFG slickside crew cab interior kit. Two-tone blue leather from Moore & Giles color-matched to the original blue paint peeling through outside. Snowden bucket seats up front, crew cab bench in the rear. We added Dakota Digital gauges, Bluetooth audio with no visible head unit to keep it clean, Morel speakers with a tuned Mosconi amp, and a simple push-button electronic parking brake.
Roman's picking this truck up this week with his family, and we'll have that video coming soon. This Mercury M250 crew cab is staying in his family forever.
