A Contemporary Home Inspired by a 200-Year-Old Farmhouse Typology | Residential House Weert

Residential House Weert, designed by De Nieuwe Context, is a contemporary rural home in Weert, the Netherlands, that reinterprets the traditional langgevelboerderij farmhouse typology within a modern architectural framework. The house is organized along a strong horizontal axis that emphasizes long views toward the surrounding farmland, while subtle level changes and sunken living areas create spatial variation without disrupting openness. Large glazed openings strengthen the relationship between interior spaces and the landscape, making nature an active part of daily life. Materially, the project combines fraké wood cladding and clay block construction to achieve a calm, tactile atmosphere that connects the building to its rural context and allows it to age naturally over time.
