How you guys doing today?
>> Good. Happy New Year.
>> Happy New Year to you, man. I like the I
like the the coat, man. That's pretty
nice.
>> It matches my company.
>> Okay. I like that. I like that. What
What have you been up to lately? What
are you working on?
>> Uh well, I bought a roofing company 18
months ago. So, uh been focused on
expand. It was a 28-year-old company.
Been uh focused on expanding that.
>> Okay. Nice. Even now, for the people
that don't know, Jerry Heler is your
uncle. My uncle.
>> Who would you say did he manage all of
NWA or was
>> he did one time? Yeah. Okay. So,
>> and he ran the record labels.
>> He ran Ruthless Records. Okay. And so,
you you ran that with him, right?
>> Well, I didn't run it. I worked as an
ANR in the ANR department. So, I signed
groups.
>> Okay. Got it. Got it. Got it. Let me ask
you this. What do you feel? How do you
feel about the portrayal that the movie
Straight Out of Compton did on
>> your uncle? Was that accurate or
>> I mean, I've been asked this a million
times. Listen, it's a movie. It was
fictionalized. Uh, I think it was a
great movie. It was a powerful movie.
There were
parts of it that were accurate. There
were a lot of parts that weren't
accurate. Obviously, the negative stuff
about my uncle were not accurate.
>> Okay. And he's not here to defend
himself.
>> So,
>> that's my job.
>> That's your job. Okay. How are things
now with you and Dr. Dre and and Easy E?
I mean, um, Ice Cube, how with how are
things with you guys?
>> I've always had a great relationship
with Dre. I've never really had a
relationship with Cube. I mean, we know
each other, but I was still in Ice Cube
when Cube was at the record label. By
the time I got out of high school and
started working for them in the early
90s, he was long gone. But
>> okay,
>> you know, um, you know, I'm I'm
>> I have no problem with Ice Cube.
>> No problem with Ice Cube. Okay. So, if
you saw him today, everything's good.
>> I want Listen, at some point in the near
future, I want to set the record
straight. You know, there's a lot of
talk. I mean, obviously, he wrote
literally the greatest disc record of
all time.
>> Okay. He literally gave
us and NWA a knockout. The Mike Tyson of
of uh of uh disc records, but I want to
set the record straight. I mean, look at
NWA uh threw the first jab or threw the
first punch and uh he he responded and
and he did it,
>> you know, right?
>> Okay. Okay. Let me ask this. I heard
some rumors online that you were going
to start a podcast. Is that true or
what's going on?
>> Yeah, it's called the Foundation. and
we're launching
>> uh soon and I'm actually hoping to sit
down with him and and
>> maybe he'll see this and he'll he'll
he'll sit down and we'll we'll break
bread.
>> Okay, there you go. Now, now he's got
the new Friday movie coming out soon,
the final chapter of all the Fridays.
Are you going to be in the theater
watching this or
>> I'll absolutely support it. I'm a big
Chris Tucker fan. He's a great guy and
yeah, I'm h I will happily support it.
>> Okay. Okay. And also too, there's been a
lot of uh Dr. Dre's old bootlegs from
the Rodeium swap meet are starting to
recirculate online. I've even seen fans
that have rare pressings of them on
vinyl that are being redistributed. Is
Ruthless Records going to be involved
with distributing those old tapes or are
those going to remain bootlegs or
>> we have to understand when Easy died our
involvement with Ruthless ended.
>> Okay.
>> So, I don't know what's going on with
that. I have no involvement. Um, no
clue.
>> No clue. Okay.
>> So, Dre has a really uh good team. All
right.
>> I think he's uh still represented by
Peter Pno and I'm sure uh whatever move
they're making
uh Dre's got. They're watching his back.
>> Nice. Nice. And do you have any Now I
know Easy E's son is also rapping too.
Are you involved with his son at all?
>> We know each other. I'm not involved at
all. This I've been out of the
entertainment industry for 20 years.
>> Okay.
>> But um I have a friendship with him. He
came to Jerry's funeral. Uh very
respectful guy. I know he's out doing
some of uh I know he's touring actually
with Ice Cube.
>> I've seen some clips of that. So,
listen, he's he's uh
>> he's continuing Easy's legacy and they
look a lot alike. So,
>> they do. They do. I know. Were you
around Easy a lot? Um
>> every day.
>> Every day.
>> We live two doors apart.
>> Oh, really? Okay. Do you have a moment
that you shared with him that you kind
of that you'll always remember?
>> Ah, there's so many moments. by Dr. Dre
and his his guns.
>> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's not
an easy moment, but uh I'll tell you one
story. So, I just started working at
Ruthless. It's my first week, and Dre is
moving from Westlake Village to
Calabasas.
>> All right.
>> And I get a call from the office saying
I need to go to his house. There's um
there's an issue. The mover's called.
Now, remember, there were not I don't
even know if I had a cell phone back
then.
>> Okay. So, I rush over to Dre's house and
he's on tour and the movers tell me to
come here and I walk up and in the m in
the primary bedroom in his closet there
was like 40 guns on a blank on a on a on
a movie mattress.
>> Okay.
>> So, I called the office and they said,
"Listen, deal with it."
>> Right?
>> So, I go, "What do you mean deal with
it?" They go, "Put the guns in his
Corvette and drive it to the new house."
So, I'm thinking I'm about to take a
bunch of these guns. So, I've never even
shot a gun at this point. I'm going to
put him in the Corvette and drive over
there. And my first week on the job, I'm
going to get arrested for like uh
transporting guns,
>> right? 40 40 illegal guns.
>> I mean, I I swear to you, but
fortunately, nothing happened and the
job got done.
>> There you go. All right. Well, hey,
we're looking forward to that podcast.
And one more time for the people that to
check it out. It was The Foundation.
>> It's called The Foundation. And
>> how can they hear that?
>> Yeah. Oh, how can they hear
all all platforms? And uh it's it's uh
where culture meets commerce. So a lot
of those stories that we're talking
about, the different businesses I've
been in and uh you know, I used to own a
sneaker store. I used own a restaurant
group. So we're going to talk about all
that. All things business.
>> There you go. Hey, well, you're
definitely the the top businessman. You
got a lot going on. Good. Glad to catch
up with you, uh Fletch. Nice to meet
you.
>> Yeah. So there was a lot of uh you know,
questions that were kind of people were
unsure about. So thank you for your
time. We appreciate that. And we'll
still keep jamming the NWA. All right.
Thank you, man.
