How are you this evening, sir?
>> How are you?
>> I'm doing well.
>> I just wanted to say happy holidays.
>> Happy holidays.
>> All right. Uh, can I ask you a couple
questions if it's possible?
>> Sure.
>> Okay. All right. So, with the holidays
being here and I know it's been a
minute, we haven't talked about um the
legend that passed away.
>> And who's that?
>> Um, Jerry Hella.
>> Yes.
>> And I did an interview with him long
ago.
>> Okay, cool. What's your name?
>> My name is Vladimir. My friends call me
Dutch,
>> but the fact of the matter is I've met
the man. I know who the legend is and
what he's done.
>> But I wanted to ask a couple questions.
Like
>> I had some words with him, but I wanted
to know if you could tell me what his
last words were,
>> man. So when he got into the car
accident, he was already unconscious.
>> Okay.
>> So when he was shepherded to the uh or
or taken to the hospital, he was already
out. But I will tell you and I think TMZ
reported this. I did play NWA for him
and there was a response like literally
he he moved. There was movement and
there was something that happened when
we started um playing the music. So it
was pretty it was pretty touching. So it
was my dad, myself, my dad is Jerry's
brother and then our cousin their first
cousin who's my cousin once removed was
their Gary. So it was just us. That's it
in the end.
>> Dude, that's absolutely beautiful.
>> Thank you. That was a great moment.
>> Thank you.
>> Was there any contact by any chance from
Ice Cube after the passing or prior to?
>> No. Ice Cube and Jerry haven't spoken in
probably decades at that point. So,
>> what can you tell me about the NWA beef
and Ice Cub's beef?
>> Man, come on. We're going back a lot.
>> I know. I know. But we're here right
now. So,
>> it's all documented. But listen, uh
>> I want the firsthand perspective.
>> I tell you something. Cube said
something recently that I thought was
really uh cool. I feel like I'm in some
kind of Twilight Zone right now. Cube
said something recently that was cool.
And the first time I heard him say this,
I don't know if he was on Drink Champs
or one of these other platforms and he
said, "Jerry opened up doors for us."
And that's what Jerry did. Jerry opened
up doors for them. There was no other
person on the planet that could have
done for them what he did. So he was
bold. He was [ __ ] ruthless and he was
a G in his own right. And you know, all
this talk that Jerry, you know, stole
this or [ __ ] them over. I mean, he the
guy was never sued. And I just told the
other guy at the end of the day, does
Ice Cube make more money today when he
does a movie or when he did Friday? It's
no different. When these guys signed a
deal or didn't sign a deal, they were
offered a contract and they were
nobodyies at the time and they became
somebody's and you renegotiated. Jerry
never stole anything. Easy never stole
anything. Okay, if Easy was alive today,
Easy would be a multi-billionaire. He
would have gotten into tech. Easy was
groundbreaking in what he did as an
entrepreneur. He had one of the first
P&D deals, which was unheard of back
then. Everybody had points deals. He got
real money off of his deals.
>> So, [ __ ] man. What else could I tell
you?
>> You can tell me a whole lot, it seems.
>> You know what? Hopefully, hopefully at
some point in the future, I'm going to
sit down with Ice Cube and we're going
to we're going to chop it up and we're
going to we're going to kind of really
set the record straight, right? Cuz at
the end of the day,
>> Jerry never stole anything. Was Jerry
difficult to deal with? Sure. But the
ruthless machine was not meant for a guy
like Ice Cube to become Ice Cube. It was
owned by a rapper. Easy never intended
to be a rapper, but he became a rapper.
So, how could you be the number one
rapper on another rapper's label? That's
tough, right? Who's bigger than Jay-Z on
Rockefeller?
Same concept, right? So, he had he did
what he had to do to excel and become
what he became. And I'm proud of the
guy. The guy did something. And look,
he's what, mid-50s? He's still relevant.
>> He just gave off the uh trophy for the
Dodgers.
>> The guy The guy did his thing.
>> He's an LA staple still.
>> He's an LA staple.
>> What about Dre? Have you spoken to Dre?
>> I speak to Dre. Oh, very nice.
>> Yeah, I've always had a good
relationship with Dre.
>> Excellent.
>> After he left Ruthless, he hired me when
I was a music video director to work
with him. Dre and I have always had a
really uh close relationship, but it
wasn't that Ice Cube and I did it. Cube
just left when I was still in high
school. So for me to I built a
relationship with Dre through the years
and I knew Dre before easy because Jerry
worked with the World Class Wrecking
Group. So I knew Dre in the mid80s when
I was like a little like I mean I was
like 13, right?
>> Really?
>> 12 13 when I met Dre.
>> You were at the genesis of it. The early
beginnings of everything.
>> Early on I would go to the studio with
him. Dre used to play me music and would
ask me my opinion all the time. And I
thought like, "Oh, Dre must really think
I'm cool." But I realized he was so
ahead of his time. He realized I was the
demographic.
>> Yeah. You were setting the tone.
>> The kid that lived in the suburbs that
was buying the record, you know? So,
>> I wouldn't say I set the tone, but I
think I I was able to give an unbiased
opinion of whether I like something or
not. I say to him, "This is amazing or I
think this is trash."
>> Okay.
>> But Dre to me wasn't Dre what we know
today. Dre was just a buddy. Dre Dre
worked with my uncle and I was a kid and
he was young too at the time.
>> Yes.
Talk to them about what happened last
week at Snow House.
>> Yeah. What's up with you and Jack?
>> Who's Jack?
>> Jack.
>> Yeah. Jack Dhy. What happened over
there?
>> I heard this was random. This is random.
>> He got pressed BY HIM AT
>> WHAT THE HELL? How you getting pressed
by teenagers?
I would smack the [ __ ] out of
>> No, this is
Wait, Andre Orloski, you saw happen at
the boxing match. What are we doing,
guys? I want to go eat. Do you need
anything else?
>> I don't have beef with Jack. I don't
even know the kid.
>> Oh, okay.
>> Message to Jack.
>> Jack, keep making that money. Stop
starting fights with people.
>> Keep pressing us. So, there's no cameras
allowed there, so no one can see it.
>> Yo, you raised them, right?
>> Jack, press me up.
>> Jack, press you.
>> Jack, that would never happen.
>> Okay, that's what we needed. SH didn't
impress me. You think Jack is going to
impress me?
>> That was hard.
>> All right. Nice to meet you.
