It's Canada serving the USA receiving for this round of 16 match from the Women's World Championship
here in Bangkok, Thailand. A big hello to all of you. 2-1 lead for the USA. Sarah Franklin.
Decent serve again. Canada struggling to put the ball on the setter's head and the block is really
well formed for the USA. Every single match but it's her efficiency that's really important. 62%
so if you give her the ball she's going to score. Opportunity here for Canada. No good. Franklin
shuts her down. That's more like it. That was super quick. Canada targeting the front court attacker
and she's from Welland, Ontario. Big shout out to those of you watching in Ontario.
Big shout out to those of you watching wherever you're watching. Chance here for Canada.
Oh good cover but it won't stay in play and the USA now edge in front. Well just sitting in the
pocket. Oh monster block. That was huge. Avery Skinner shutting it down. Here setter says I'm
done with this. Avery's serve is a good one. Blocks also good. Just a continuation block though.
Oh is that in? That is a great angle against two blockers to find that cross-court shot.
But Kuhn with the serve. Just about a perfect pass. Couldn't get the swing and now there's a
chance here for Canada for a break point to get level. No not happening. USA's block is supreme.
This has been a bit of a problem for Canada. They're having to go a lot because this the
passing's not getting planned on the net. Well they're trying a little switcheroo then Canada
to get the lead ball in position to pass but it hasn't changed the outcome. It's
another block for the USA. They are three points away from taking the opening set.
That's nicely done. Schmreck running a little slidey behind. The tip is red. A swing chance
for the set and it will be done. First time of asking. Stephanie Samaday puts that on the floor
and the USA take the opening set 25-18. The way we go then set number two. USA serving. They're
leading Canada by one set to nothing. This round of 16 match from the Women's World Championships
here in Thailand, Bangkok. Good scramble. Other opportunity then for Canada.
Taken. The captain Emily Maglio makes sure of that one. Big difference here. Starts with a tip.
Gets some bodies on the floor to scramble on USA's side. The next ball comes over and it's
perfectly in position for the set to go to the middle. And there's no point looking for,
especially for you younger players that watching, don't look to the coach for
approval every time you do something. Just get on and play. Do your job and enjoy it.
Forget the coaches there. Maglio with the serve for Canada. They've got a three-point advantage.
Oh that was nice. That had some real pace on it from Tia Jimmerson.
That set just moments ago was a little slow and off the net. Canada trying to work some speed.
Oh that is absolutely bad. What a swing. Okay USA. It's from the VNL earlier this year. Oh yes,
well played. Clever play Courtney Baker. Schreck and Hellander back in. It's that same spot every
time. USA setting up their base position on the quick ball. Commit with it or be that split second
Right back at you. Poulter says go on check it, show them what you can do.
Faster, flatter and further from the center. That's a great pass from Crockett. That is a
wonderful block from the USA. Lovely pass from Hentz and then Obago running. Another good touch
from Canada in their block. But a great block as Schreck wants to find an angle that isn't available
to her. Good serve. This has to go out wide. Two blockers waiting and pouncing. No way through.
Tia Jimmerson saying no, no, no. It's set point for the USA. Another ball that has to go wide.
Mitrovic kept in play by Skinner. There might be another chance here. Obago. Oh it wasn't. Oh
goodness me. They can't get it done. It's going to be Canada. No it isn't. Maybe now. But it's
got to be a one foot yahoo and Canada deal with that. And Mitrovic finds the floor. Chances for
Stephanie Salovey not taken. Mitrovic with the serve. Three chances for the USA to take the set.
Steady ball. Great swing. Franklin does it. 25-21. USA take the set. They lead Canada
by two sets to nothing. With her swing, her arms to get more. We're about to get up right up to really
drive up into the air and use her height to gain more height and then take the ball at a higher
point. Chase down not gonna work. Figure out ways to go around the taller blocker has grown up having
to do so like you mentioned. That's a good serve and a bit of a good scramble play from Johnson.
Chance here though off the dig of Franklin. Can she finish? Oh yes she can. That is perfectly placed.
That's Madison's first point of this third set. She's been relatively quiet. Easy to say not so
easy to do. Madison with the serve. Oh she's got herself an ace serve. Well played Canada.
Nice cover. If that ball's not there to hit. Oh that's a good serve from Poulter. Johnson did well
to put a decent ball in and that is a lovely swing from her. Good serve. Canada free ball.
Chance to score and it's taken. Another good serve. This flat hard serve stopping
USA getting the ball on the net. That is a wonderful pickup from Joost.
Good defense from Franklin. Madison's. Oh yes that is incredible.
It's a bit tight and that's reaching across and playing on the side of the USA
from Courtney Baker. So here this has to be played on your own side but those fingertips coming past
the antenna mean that that ball has been played on the side of the USA. Capitalizing on some space.
There was little that Goossen could do about it. Lots that Franklin could do about that. 22-16.
Tanner Fyatt has come on number 32 for Canada. Good ball in. Mabel does its job. Canada stay
in the match for the moment. Hit her instead of just giving it a little bit of energy with the
second one was better but they just need one side out here the USA. The swing is good. The point
is fantastic. Samaday wraps it all up. 25-21 in the third. USA have beaten Canada by three sets to nothing.
