I Broke the Grid at a PGA Tour Event (400-Yard Drive Attempt)

What's up guys, Kyle here. This is honestly one of the cooler videos I've gotten to film this year.
If you watched the Optum Golf Channel games last week, you saw guys like Rory McIlroy,
Scotty Scheffler, Luke Clinton, and a bunch of other top players go head-to-head
in a long drive competition. After watching that, I really wanted to get out there myself and see
how my distance stacks up against some of the biggest teams in golf. The longest recorded
drive ended up being 324 yards by Rory and Luke, so I figured I'd try to beat that by about 70 yards
and see if I can cross the 400 yard mark. Stick around and see if I can get it done.
Also, I'm getting close to releasing my own app where I break down everything you need to know
how to hit the ball further, and I show you exactly how to train for more speed and distance.
This is the ultimate speed and distance course if you guys want to have usable distance and speed
when it matters, which is trying to shoot lower scores. If that's something you're interested in,
click the link in the description, drop your email, and you'll be the first to know when it goes live.
With that said, sit back, relax, and enjoy the video. There's people on that tower back there.
We were a little concerned about, you know, 360, 370. It feels like about where my balls would be
landing. Sure enough, first one right up the gut actually clips one of the guys in the shoulder
on the way down. See the problems when you hit 400 yards. That's almost 230. Did I hit the tower?
What was that speed? 154.2, 227.7.
Too much ground force. Phenomenal save. That's a very real concern sometimes.
I use spikes, but it's just when you have ground that's even slightly like this way,
you're pushing hard. That's why all of our grids, we have to be like within half a
degree of like angles because if not, you'll slip. My question is, does the grid go back that far
where they can give like the measurements for like super accurate shots? He said one of them
was like over, but he said we're going to count that as in.
229. 229. 229 carat. 329. That's a fairway finder? He's talking about ball speed. Ball speed.
So far we're five for five. I think four of them have gone over 380,
so I think I have a pretty high score, but we'll see. See if we can get a little more
out of this, these new ones. Okay, so we just wrapped up set one of six balls.
I believe five out of six were in, but I don't know how far back the grid goes,
so to calculate the points we might have to do some extrapolation of the lines,
but that's what I got from my side. All right, we're gonna do our second set here. It's gonna
be hard to top that first set. Our target is the guy in the top of the boom operator
all the way in the back. That's 360, so that's where we're aiming. Down the right tower line,
he said. Right tower line. Still haven't quite hit my perfect ball yet. I think if we hit a
perfect one, we can fly it on the top of that tower. Started right on it. That was a pretty
solid. If we catch one good, we should be in the low 230s. 388. 388. All right. I think we got 12
more yards than us if I catch it perfect. Just barely left him. Can't see him after that. Where
was that one? About the same carry, 380 outright. A little right, yeah. I came across him a little
bit. We got two balls left in this set. Oh, this wind just shifted. Oh, there it is. Yeah,
that's right on it. That's gone. 390 in. What was it? 390 in. Got one more ball in this set,
so we're in with 390. So what we do in long drive when we have a good ball in play,
we swing harder. It's 230.8. That's my best strike so far. Definitely my best strike.
I'll start with the free range balls for this last set and then go to the last three towers.
So through the first two sets, our big ball has been hovering right around 390.
I have 10 more in me, so it's just about getting the yardage, the launch conditions right for the
wind and what we got going on right now. I have it in me to go 400. We just got to hit the right
ball. So that's going to be our, we got one more set, six balls. See if we can make it happen.
A little bit skinny. Yeah, it's four.
Did you see it, Kyle? A little bit low in the face, but I'm kind of just going through these
so I can get to the last three. Okay. Those are range balls. The last three are going to be the
big balls because they're the last three 100 compression balls I got left. So I'm kind of
saving those for the end. All right, here it is. We got three balls left. These are three
absolute pearls. If we catch a perfect, I think we can go 400, but it's going to have to be a
perfect shot. Speed's there though, right? My Pro-Am partner here. What's up? How are you doing?
All right. All right, now I got my tag team partner coming in. All right, so we got two
balls left. Still going for 400. We got a couple in the 390s. It's going to go all out in these
last two. See what we can do. Is this all out or is this a straight? Oh yeah, we've been working
up to this. You came at the right time. Okay. This is full torque. Probably 156 club, 230 ball
in that neighborhood. Pretty good. That was 155 club, 230.8 ball speed. All right, we got one more.
See if we can really tag it. Oh, that's it. Come on. It's all right.
It's a regular flex. It'll kick for you pretty good, which you'll love.
That's about five degrees right now. It's a six tuned down to a five.
Pretty unique club. If you were going to go play and you had to hit barrels,
would you use a flexible shaft? No, so I'll show you. Here's the, this is what I game with.
Right here. So it's a lot more, a lot different. And the way I would hit the shot is different
too. I would set up for a full fade. Here I'm trying to set up like a hammer draw and just
kind of trap it. That last one was how fast? Probably like, I didn't get a good look at it.
It was like 155, probably 228 in that neighborhood.
