I'm about to race a Formula One driver in the GT3 RS that we've just rebuilt.
To be a Formula One driver, you've got to be fast.
Really fast.
After all, there's only 20 spaces available in the world.
But now we're about to find out how fast they really are when we put one against me
on track in this GT3 RS.
The F1 driver will also be driving a similar car.
But before we head to the track, I need to gain as much advantage as possible.
Now, it took a lot of work to be able to get this to happen.
And the only reason we're allowed to do this is due to these guys from JZM.
The professionals have been called in.
And actually, I'm going to take a step back from now,
because it's going to be these guys going to be stripping apart the car,
which will all make sense once this car's stripped.
I don't know how much they're actually taking off.
But all of our work is about to be undone.
It's about to get seriously inspected by some professional nerds.
The GT3 RS is already known for being one of the best road-legal track cars.
What have they done here?
But there is ways to make it better.
And now, after rebuilding the engine, the chassis and the whole car,
JZM have come to my workshop to start stripping this car completely apart again.
And they're not allowing me to touch it, at least not yet.
These guys need to inspect the car to make sure our rebuild is perfect,
or else the improvement we're about to make to the car won't be possible.
This man, £100,000 worth of panels in the back of it, and he's arrived.
£100,000.
It sounds like a lot, but it's probably one of the only upgrades you can do to a car
which actually does increase the value of it.
At least I hope so.
We'll get back onto what's in the boxes later, but for now,
the JZM boys have got to remove the wheels and get the car in the air
so they can inspect all of the suspension that we've bought.
So far, so good. It's doing a good job, apart from the wheels.
It hasn't got any grease on, but you can already see the parts
where it's starting to wear to the actual wheel.
A bit of grease on that, should be bright as rain.
So far, we're doing okay, but there's still a fair amount to go.
Now they're removing the arch linings, some trims underneath the bonnet,
because they've actually got to start removing the front bumper.
Everything here has got to be inspected, which is pretty nerve-wracking for me.
Tensioning anything at the minute?
The tension's not quite there on that one, is it?
No, not quite there, but the duct tape is also holding a bit of tension in.
I like the patchwork repairs when needs must.
Okay, there's little things here and there that they've spotted,
but there's nothing drastic that can't be fixed.
The main thing that these guys are concerned about is whether the car's straight.
But before they get onto that, they're starting to remove the rear suspension.
Then the car goes up, the rear diffuser gets removed,
so then they can look at the bottom of the engine and all of the exhaust.
Then onto the front to remove the front suspension.
So far, so good.
The car is stripped.
Now I need to make sure I'm 100% confident that this car is perfect,
that a rebuild is perfect,
because the only reason we can do what we're doing to this car
is if this car is perfect,
because they were quite reluctant to do it on a crash-damaged car.
I don't know why I put that in quotation marks.
It is crash-damaged.
But then under here, there is something I know about,
which hopefully they haven't spotted yet.
We've got some broken aero,
and when we were building it together,
it was just one thing,
I wanted to get the car finished,
I didn't want to leave it,
not get the car finished because of this broken aero.
So I've got a replacement bit for there,
so I'm going to replace that.
Then also some more broken bits down there,
which we're going to replace as well.
So first off is this.
Now, even though to people like me and you,
this is only a small break in an intake guide,
to the Porsche nerds,
they'll take this pretty seriously.
Everything on this car is there for function,
so we need to make sure it's right.
I've got a new one of these,
so they won't know that it's broken.
On my old one, we drift-stitched it.
Nice.
We'll get away with that if it's just my car,
but now, because we've got the Porsche nerds on it,
it's got to be perfect.
And because we're going to be racing a Formula One driver later,
all these tiny things could give us that advantage we need to actually beat him.
As unrealistic as it may sound.
Once that intake guide's in,
I then have the new brake cooling intake
that I'm installing on the right-hand side.
This slides into place,
and the ambient air temperature sensor clips into it as well.
And now, I think the car's perfect and ready for its upgrade.
Inside this box is £100,000 worth of investment
because it sounds crazy,
but this kit actually increases the value of a Porsche
because it's part of Porsche and not anyone can just buy it.
The kit that's going onto this car is called a Manti Racing Kit.
Manti.
Manti Racing.
And it's so expensive because it has a function.
So this is for people that are quite serious about their Porsche
and they need that last little bit of track performance.
Increasing the aero of the car,
increasing the performance of the car,
which then improves lap times,
specifically around the Nürburgring.
The kits are made so well
that Porsche actually purchased the majority stake of Manti in 2013.
So now, all the kits have to be made to Porsche quality.
Oh, look.
And we've got TUV approval.
That's just very German, isn't it?
And this kit comes with a lot.
Oh, my goodness gracious.
What the hell is that?
And providing my car's all good,
we're going to be installing it.
And we're very lucky to be able to fit it here
because normally it has to go to Porsche to be fitted.
So we're breaking so many Porsche rules right now.
And I'm hoping this should give us that edge
against the Formula One driver later.
He's not up there.
He is not up there.
Here is then the Manti kit for the GT3 RS.
Doesn't look like much at the minute,
but it will do once it's on the car.
Let's get it fitted.
First step, wiring.
All the new suspension is electronically controlled,
just like the standard suspension.
But instead of using the standard harness,
it uses a Manti harness.
One of the next steps, as you can see,
is that they're doing the wiring,
which is way out of my league.
These guys know what they're doing.
But to do that as well,
and we're going to need this rear screen out.
And we've already learned how flim...
This is basically like plastic,
that I can literally push it down and flex it.
Guys are here from ScreenSaver to take it out.
I've got money on it breaks coming out
because you breathe on that screen and it breaks.
Also, to warn you, we put it in.
So ScreenSaver carefully started
trying to remove this rear screen without breaking it.
And whilst they were doing that,
I was getting the suspension ready.
This is the new suspension from Manti.
But how can it get any better than the standard suspension
Porsche spent years developing?
Well, you can.
And the reason we need to upgrade the suspension
is because we're going to be adding
so much more downforce on the car.
At the right speed with the Manti kit,
the GT3 RS would have 1000 kilograms of downforce on it.
That's an extra ton.
So the suspension's got to be able to cope with that.
But there is some parts I need off the stock suspension,
which I'm going to need to put on the Manti one.
And I'm taking that off now.
The nose lift is off.
This is the nose lift.
Hydraulic fluid gets injected into this part,
which then raises the height of the front suspension.
And we want to keep this
so I can raise the height of the front
when going over speed bumps.
Now, we've got the Manti suspension here.
So on the bottom of this, we want to put the nose lift.
Not on the bottom of that one
because that was a rear suspension shock.
But here's the front one.
First, the locking ring goes on.
Then the nose lift screws down onto that locking ring.
And whilst I was doing that,
the ScreenSaver guys actually got the rear screen out
without breaking it.
There you go.
You've done it.
Smashed it.
Limited edition, even though it came in unlocked.
Oh, beautiful.
So my dad rewarded them with some live food.
Now with the screen out,
the JZM boys have got more room
for installing the wiring harness for the new suspension.
And along with the harness,
it also comes with a separate control unit for the suspension.
And with all this installed,
it will still allow us to control the suspension
with the original buttons on the steering wheel.
Right, so this is the cup here.
And this is actually going to be doing the ride height.
So depending on where this cup sits,
the higher up it goes,
the higher the car is going to be.
The lower down it goes,
the lower the car is going to be.
And there's going to be a man's height measurement.
And he's about to tell me now.
It's 11 mil.
11 mil.
The bottom of the spring plate to the top of the adjuster.
We've still got a long way to go there.
Yeah.
A long way to go.
Now these are just rough measurements for now.
Everything will be fine-tuned
once the whole car is installed with the Manti kit.
Because of course,
there's going to be different weights
on different corners of the cars.
Now I'm continuing to fit the rest of the suspension to the strut,
being closely watched by the guys at JZM.
The only reason I'm allowed to fit this kit
is if I'm closely watched by them,
which means whipping out the torque wrench.
These guys have been working with Manti since 1999.
Lovely stuff.
Look at that.
One complete Manti suspension unit,
spring, nose lift.
Let's get it on.
Let's go.
On goes the Manti suspension.
Again, because Porsche is part of Manti now,
it just fits the same way
the original Porsche suspension would fit.
And I wouldn't expect it any other way for the price I paid for it.
The top mount bolts go in to hold the strut to the car.
I can start building up the rest of the suspension.
The wheel hub goes on,
the lower wishbone,
then the upper wishbone.
Then I can connect the wheel hub to all of the control arms and wishbones.
Then I can tighten it all up.
So is this the new wiring that will use this?
Because I don't remember that.
With the kit,
you've got seven new accelerometer sensors,
which talk to the control unit in there in real time.
And it just allows adjustment of the compression and rebound
a lot quicker, a lot more precise.
Pretty nerdy stuff.
But at the end of the day,
it's going to make the car better.
Out comes the torque wrench again and the paint pen.
What do you use them for?
So now I know that I've torqued them.
I always use them.
I mean, I always use them on all the builds.
You'll find paint all over that Revolto.
With the bolts at the top torqued up and paint pen,
I've now got to do the same for all of the bolts that I've done on the suspension.
They're going to say this is torqued as well, isn't it?
It will have a torque term.
It's going to be like 5Nm.
No, it's 600.
Right, get the dugger out.
Rear suspension.
The measurement on this is 72mm,
which is there or thereabouts.
There's going to be some adjustment afterwards.
I'm going to slide it up.
We're going to get the top mount bolts in.
The rear suspension, even easier than the front.
Remember, we've already rebuilt this car.
We know exactly how this thing goes together.
Top mount bolts do up,
strut bolt goes on,
and the lower control arm goes on as well.
Torque it all up,
and all that's left to do with the suspension is wire it all in.
Huge moment.
Huge moment now.
So wiring's going in,
and now it's our job,
because we bonded the screen in before,
to put the new screen in.
So we're effectively converting the GT3 RS into a van now.
Here's our new screen,
which is opaque.
Learned that at school.
This is it, because this is going to hold aero,
but it's vital we get this absolutely bang on when we put it in.
Let's get this on.
So why change a rear screen,
which you can see out of,
to essentially a slab of carbon fibre?
Well, Mantai wanted to add aero to the rear screen,
which you'll see later.
But in Germany,
it's actually illegal to add things to your windscreen,
which obstruct the vision.
But it isn't illegal to just completely change the windscreen altogether.
So that's what they did.
Change the glass out for some carbon fibre,
and with that,
they could then add aero to it.
I'm using part of my bike rack as a suction mount,
to hold this piece of carbon fibre.
And now me and my dad have got to slide it in place,
making sure this thing is perfectly in the centre.
I make sure the seal's in the right place,
and the JZM guys are just inspecting our work.
And to be fair, it looks pretty good.
I can tape it all down now.
We've got to let it set,
and after it's set,
we can add the aero to it.
Okay, we've got a job butchering a GT3 RS bumper.
This grille, it has to be cut for the tethers to hold on to the new splitter,
which is way longer,
just like the RS6 that we did.
So we've got a template,
and we can't mess this up because there's no turning back on this.
The template comes with the Manta kit.
I've got to lay it on top of the wire grille,
and then the holes that are in it,
we're going to cut out using a Dremel.
First, I'm going to mark where the holes are,
so then I can remove the template,
and then out comes the Dremel.
Just a quick one, the holes are meant to be at the bottom.
No, they ain't.
Nah, I'm joking.
You nearly admit.
But now, the holes in the grilles are cut out,
and hopefully it'll make sense why later in the video.
There's now these little plastic parts to put over the exposed pieces in the grille,
and now we've got to modify these tethers,
which are holding the lower splitter on.
First, we've got to remove it all.
Then, these uprated plates are attached to the front crash bar.
With the plates, you then get new metal tethers,
which then provide more strength to the under track.
All the tethers are now holding this lower...
Well, it definitely worked.
That's mental.
And now, we've got to replace with one of these,
but I don't know why these...
Wait, does that not bolt onto that one?
As in, like, look, it...
Weird.
Next thing, to accommodate that aero,
there's a bigger front splitter,
but with a bigger front splitter,
we also have wider...
What do they call them?
Aprons?
Curtains.
Curtains, they're called curtains.
They're coming off.
So now, I've got to unbolt the curtains from the standard bumper.
Then, they just unclip away from it.
Both sides.
This is the difference there.
So, there's less...
There's less there, isn't there?
Yeah.
But more here.
But then, also, looks like it directs the air outwards.
Yeah.
I'm going to say, if I was Mantaey,
I would be saying,
let's drag more downforce,
which is true.
According to Mantaey,
their kit adds way more downforce,
but doesn't increase the drag a single bit.
I don't know how they managed it,
but I guess we're going to find out later on track.
Big walloping Mantaey splitter, look at that.
With the wider curtains installed,
we can now install the wider front splitter,
which is going to add downforce on the front end.
You can then see there's actually a hole in the side of the bumper
where the old curtain used to be,
but this is actually going to be covered over by these canards,
which are just literally stuck on to the side of the bumper.
Imagine you're traveling at around 100 mile an hour
and you put your hand out the window
and you sort of make the same shape these canards are making.
You'll feel the downforce being pushed down onto your hand
and that's the same effect these canards are going to have on this front end.
With all that installed,
me and Tom can now line up the bumper to the car.
They come through like fangs.
We've got to tighten the bumper back onto it
and then clip back on the front splitter,
which I had to remove just to line everything up.
Now you can see why we cut the holes in the front grille.
They have these tethers,
which provide extra support for that front splitter
because that's going to have a lot of downforce pushing it down.
Now all the front bumper aero is complete.
It's already starting to look like a race car.
Next step, we've done the front.
We're on to the back.
You thought this wing was crazy.
It's about to increase in craziness.
Bring on the new wing.
First, I've got to remove the old end plates off the spoiler.
I then pull off a c-clip holding the carbon part of the spoiler on,
which is actually the DRS system.
This opens and closes when you press a button on the steering wheel.
You're supposed to have it open when you're on the straights for less drag
and then closed when going around corners for more stability.
But this one's being removed.
Old DRS flap.
New DRS flap.
It's literally the same size, I believe anyway,
but with like an extra hole in it.
Less drag, more downforce.
I think that's what they're probably going to go for.
Is that correct?
I think so.
Now all we've got to do is fit it.
Once we've fitted that in place, we've then got bigger end plates.
These things are huge.
DRS is on.
End plate going on now.
Look at this.
Huge end plate and this is painted.
It's underneath the lacquer.
Man's heart.
These end plates are really going to change the look of the car.
It's almost Formula One-esque, but apparently this all has purpose.
But we'll find out later.
I don't think the size comes across on camera, but that is absolutely...
Like this is function over looks, but it still does look cool, in my opinion.
It's going to be very mixed.
That's the original...
Like this looks...
Like even this was huge for a road car.
This was huge and now it looks like it's playmate.
Like something to play with.
Look at that.
So the bottom side of the wing is the most sensitive part
and that's where you gain your aero from.
So it stops any of the dirty air getting into the clean flow of the...
Right.
Look at it from the back stood here.
It's just a sucker.
Oh my days.
It looks so dumb.
That looks ridiculous.
You reverse it and then it's just a child.
But that's not it.
We've still got more aero to fit.
The shark fin is going on.
Originally designed on LM cars where they have really low drag
that it stops them flipping over.
But what they've actually found is it cleans up the air.
So all the flicks that we're going to put on the roof channels the dirty air
out past the massive diffuser.
And now what we've got to do is fit it to the car and make sure it's perfectly straight.
What do you think?
It's a bit extreme, isn't it?
Just when we thought we were stopped at that aero there's more.
Here it comes.
Porsche already had some roof aero on the GT3 RS.
But now Manti added more.
All of these extra fins on the roof are supposed to guide the hot air
which comes out the back of the radiator at the front of the car
over the bonnet onto the roof
and the fins are supposed to guide it away from the back of the engine.
Two clearly wasn't enough.
So they added more.
Once they were installed,
JZM put the rest of the interior back together.
Then we can move on to the next step.
Three points to whoever's watching
who can tell me what's missing off this front wheel area.
Three, two, one.
You guessed correctly.
A brake caliper.
And that's because we're going to do some mods to that.
We can improve the braking although it is really good
and I can't imagine it being any better than this.
Apparently it can be.
So now we're removing the standard brake pads from these calipers.
I don't quite know what makes the Manti pads better
but they do look a hell of a lot thicker
and I was told that they're already pre-worn.
So I can put these straight in the caliper
and then go full send on the track no problem.
The wiring you just see me clipping into the brake pads
are the brake wear sensors
and when the brake pads wear down
the discs end up touching these sensors
which creates a break in the wire
which in turn puts a light on the dash
telling you you need to replace your brake pads.
So this is the next uprated part going on.
Braided line.
You can see full steel there instead of the rubber one there
which expands as you brake
which is not great.
This should be an improvement.
This is something that I expected Porsche to do from the factory
but at least we're doing it now.
The standard rubber hoses do tend to expand
when you push your foot hard on the brakes
which gives you that spongy brake pedal feel
especially when it gets warm
and we're replacing them for the Manta Racing steel braided lines
which prevent the expansion when you're putting your foot on the brake.
After that we're doing a brake fluid change.
Right now I'm using Mr. Push
to push the new brake fluid and pressure through the brake system
then I'm going to go around to each corner
crack off the brake nipples on the calipers
to let all the air out of the system
so it's only brake fluid in there
and that's job done.
Brakes are bled.
Now it's time for the alignment
so it's going to have a more aggressive setup
which should be a massive difference
between stock GT3 RS and this GT3 RS
and the guys can do it here
without taking it to an alignment centre
because inside that is all the kit to align it
because we're going to add weight.
So we add the driver weight in so when we corner balance it
so we've bought 100 kilos for you.
To align the car
first thing the guys are going to do is attach this specialist equipment.
This is not only going to tell the guys where the wheels are pointing
it's also going to weigh the car
and it's no good setting it up
if they haven't got the weight of the driver in there.
So in goes 75 kilos in the driver's seat
and then they're using lasers to align everything.
One thing that's pretty vital is getting the steering wheel
exactly straight when they're doing this.
Now they can see how much toe in or toe out the front wheels have got.
The guys are going to adjust it so the car's got a little bit of toeing in.
When you accelerate the wheels tend to pull out slightly.
They can also see how much degree of camber it's got.
This is where the wheels tilt in or outwards.
Now we're looking for some negative camber
because once we go around the corner
the car will roll onto the outside tyre
and if we've got negative camber
and the wheels are pointing inwards
when the body weight of the car rolls onto that tyre
it will then give the tyre a way bigger contact patch
when we're going around those corners
and all of this is no good unless the car is evenly balanced.
For example if the back left of the suspension is too high
it's going to put more weight on the front right side of the suspension.
So what the guys are looking for here is a complete even 50-50 weight distribution
and they're going to do that by adjusting the heights on each corner of the car.
Once they're happy with it
they tighten all the bolts, torque them all to spec and we can move on.
Whilst they're doing some more final adjustments
there's this part which comes with it as well
because you might notice on the stock one the tub is literally just open
which you want to make it as smooth as possible underneath the car.
As we've learned on that Rivolto it's just flat fully underneath.
This is almost flat underneath and then you put this on
it makes it way flatter.
The floor of the car is meant to work like a vacuum.
The quicker the air can pass underneath it
the more the car is going to be sucked to the ground.
So making it as smooth as possible is going to make it so much more stable at high speeds
but it doesn't stop there.
Additional diffuser.
Look at the stock one.
Rubbish.
A diffuser with carbon and way bigger fins on it
to get rid of that air underneath the car as quick as possible
and it also looks crazy.
Look at these.
So we made, well we mainly made this to make it look like a Mantae
but now I've actually got a Mantae
and these are how they're fitted on.
They're actually fitted to the centre lock like that and then bolted in.
So at the minute we're double disking
but we may take off the disc on the inside
but this will do for now.
Again it's all designed to clean the air down the side of the car wouldn't it?
Another part of the aero
which is designed to just get rid of all that dirty air down the side of the car.
Once we've fitted the rear aero discs we're on to the final pieces
which is just for styling.
The GT3RS kicker plates come out which light up
and they're replaced with Mantae kicker plates
which also light up.
It's the little touches that matter.
We've transformed it.
Now I guess let's show you the full product.
Here we are at Circuit Navarra in Spain.
What a place to take the GT3RS for the first time.
I'm really actually going to properly drive it
and look at the Mantae kit.
It looks next level.
It's not really about the looks it's more about practicality
and really well it's about performance and practicality
and I'm hoping this is going to give me the advantage for this race.
I've been a full walk around the car
because I don't know how much you guys have seen of it just yet
but there is a huge noticeable difference with these dinner plate discs down here.
This huge wing.
It looks in the right environment here
when I'm sat on the motorway in this or in traffic
it's going to look absolutely stupid
but this is the first time I'm actually going to get to drive this
and feel the difference between the GT3 that we rebuilt
and now to a 3RS Mantae.
I can't believe the way this car looks.
It's going to be the first time we actually get to give it a bit of beans really.
We've even got to get out of second gear.
We've not even got out there.
Car's been shipped directly here.
I think it's time we take it on track and give it a little rip round.
Let's do it.
Circuit Navarra then.
The perfect place to test out the GT3RS with all the new aero.
Full of high speed corners and good enough for Formula 4
but we're soon going to find out whether it's good enough for a Formula 1 driver.
Let's go test this Porsche.
Oh my god.
This does not feel right and the exhaust sounds mental.
The car was driving great.
The grip is already mad and we're on cold tyres.
Oh, the G-force already is insane.
The grip is a joke, isn't it?
Oh my god, this is so fun.
Last time I was here it was in the Rolls Royce.
I don't know where this goes.
Oh, there's like a chicane.
Oh my god.
We lost a little bit of grip there.
Our first lap which, oh my god, the blood is pumping
but this is the perfect time for us to drink a YFood.
Why not? Why not?
And this is the Matt Armstrong YFood special edition.
I've been drinking this for years and they've made an actual special edition drink for me.
I've been drinking it that long.
It's a perfect meal replacement drink.
It keeps you full up to your next meal.
So you drink this instead of eating fast food at lunchtime.
So when we're on track and there's no other food places around,
perfect time to drink this.
Okay, I'm about to hit my own car for the first time.
On the outside.
Boss Matt takes it for a rip down the straight.
Send it!
Remember, these YFoods are high in fibre, high in protein,
lactose-free, gluten-free and there's no added sugar.
Oh, there's 9,000 rpm in this.
There's not many of these left.
This is Happy Banana flavour.
There's loads of other flavours to choose from,
but the limited edition is only in Happy Banana.
My favourite flavour.
That's literally, like, gave me goosebumps.
Oh my god.
Well, to get one of these limited edition YFoods,
you can do with the link in the description box below.
There's a discount code appearing on the screen as well right now.
Not many of them left.
Right, I think it's about to get serious.
I need a few practice laps.
Here we go then.
The 3RS is ready.
I'm ready.
We just need a car for it to race against
and I think I've got the perfect solution.
The GT3!
It's not the F1 driver!
Another car that we've rebuilt on the channel
and we think this is going to be the most interesting race between the two cars.
The GT3 RS and the GT3 have the same engine and gearbox with a few differences.
The GT3 RS has 15 horsepower more,
but the GT3 has 4 foot-pounds of torque more.
The 0-62mph in the 3RS is 0.2 quicker than the GT3,
but the GT3 has a 50mph higher top speed than the GT3 RS.
And then of course, we have all the aero, wider wheels and a wider track than the GT3.
My dad's not known for driving an F1, but we've got someone who is.
This is Mick Schumacher, famous for driving in Formula 1.
Schumacher just slams that door on it.
He's won Formula 3 championships, Formula 2 championships.
You are looking at the new champion.
And let's not forget his dad, the GOAT, Michael Schumacher.
They say motorsport's in your blood and it's safe to say it's true in this case.
It's on, we're not friends from now.
So you've got the pink GT3.
I believe you've got a GT3 RS yourself, but not drove a GT3 before.
I haven't, no.
And it's right-hand drive, so...
Excuses already, he's brought the ******* excuses.
Okay, so we've got a few tests we want to do before we actually go out on track and
race against each other as well.
One of them is going to be a drag race, but I think...
Should we let him out on track first?
I think as little laps as possible.
Yeah, we don't want to give him too much of a warm-up,
especially because he's not drove the car before.
It'll be good to have at least one or two laps.
One or two, that's fine.
We went straight into drag racing.
Here we go then, GT3 versus GT3 RS.
This is probably going to be the only chance I get to beat Mick.
Welcome to, as Matt would say it, the Tony camp.
Yeah, fingers in the way already, look.
Oh, I've got the jump!
I've got the jump on the GT3!
That was so much closer than I thought.
Oh, the GT3 RS!
I just beat Mick Schumacher.
Naturally, Mick wasn't very happy about that.
The thing is with Formula 1 drivers, they don't like being beat.
That's why they're able to do what they do, and just beat one.
I just beat an F1 driver.
I think we're going to have to do that again.
What was your thoughts?
Not the best start.
Didn't leave a big mark in the front there.
Oh yeah, you have.
Round two?
Okay, let's do it.
Look at this, Formula 1 tactics.
He wants to swap sides, so he's got a clean side.
How come you're on different sides this time?
Now this side is cleaner.
Is that what it is?
You think this is the better side?
Okay, we'll see.
It is really better sides.
Okay, I like it.
Three, two, one, go!
Oh my days!
Mick absolutely sent that then.
I think it's because Mick spun his wheels when he took off.
He's going for the star point.
Never mind.
That was so much closer that time.
The smoke coming from the back of the GT3 and the wheel spin is mental.
I think that one was even longer, no?
Yeah, you were literally smoking like crazy out the back.
Do you think you can beat him or not?
Honestly, I think if we do a rolling start, I think I would.
Because the straight line is actually a lot faster.
A rolling race?
That's what I'm saying.
He's desperate to win in it.
He's desperate to win.
Here we go, rolling race.
From this red line, Mick thinks he's going to win this one.
We're on the rolling race.
To win one.
No catching that.
I did get going earlier than you though.
Yeah, should we have another one?
Another one?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I just want another one.
Are you two just going to keep going until you win?
Come on, come on GT3!
RS!
The GT3 has just got it on that straight line speed.
It is insanely close though, insanely close.
Matt had a better start, but I still think the GT3 is faster.
But is Mick Schumacher faster than Matt around the track in the GT3?
We could have carried on all day.
Both of us were as competitive as each other.
It was so much fun just drag racing Mick.
But now we're about to find out whether the 3RS with the Mantide kit
is actually faster around the track.
GT3 faster in a straight line.
GT3 RS better at getting off the line.
Me generally faster overall.
Do you know what I'm actually scared for as well?
He just asked me before we're about to start our laps now,
do we need the tyres to drive home on?
Yes!
15-minute session times?
Yeah.
15-minute session time, is that going to be enough for you?
To do what?
Fast lap?
I'll do one lap.
Oh my god.
It'll be fun, like, you know, a rolling qualifying lap, kind of.
So you go out, do an out lap, one lap, and then you finish the in lap basically.
Oh, so it's like literally all on that lap?
Just one lap, yeah.
Formula 1 really, I guess, innit?
So out lap, push lap, in lap.
I feel like he's playing you his own game.
I know, I know, I know, isn't he?
Born on the racetrack.
Yeah, yeah.
We'll let you go do your lap.
I won't know your lap time though, I think that's fair, isn't it?
Yeah.
I think you should go first.
Oh my god, he's making all the rules, it's my video!
We made Mick go first.
It's insane I'm even getting to do this.
And this never would have happened if it wasn't for all of you guys.
So thank you so much for subscribing.
Let's do it.
It's Monday afternoon drive.
You're fully confident on this, aren't you?
No reason to.
I mean, like, the car's pretty quick, the Mantai package, so we'll see.
Nothing about Matt's driving though, he's not...
Oh, he did a good job.
Like the lap that I did with him, I was really impressed.
Okay.
So we'll see, we'll see what happens.
Anyways, it's the racing that counts.
That is true, yeah.
That's where the pressure comes.
Yeah, you might be better at that.
Right, you ready?
Yep.
Good luck.
So he's got an out lap, he's going to warm the tyres up and then he's going to do a push lap.
It's just like F1 qualifying, so everything is on me to not mess up.
He's used to this pressure, that's why he gets to the top of the top for the drivers,
because he's used to pressure.
People like me crumble.
So Outmik goes for his out lap, making sure everything's good,
getting used to the track, warming the tyres up and preparing himself.
We've got a RaceLogic lap timer in the car, the most accurate way of recording lap times,
but there'll also be two guys on the outside recording it with their phone.
Here we go.
Will he lift for the first turn?
That's what I want to know.
So here he goes on his actual lap, into the first corner with an insane amount of speed,
but I do think he slightly tapped the brakes.
He then carried so much speed into Turn 2, the car got really out of control,
to the point where it was almost opposite locking to get out of it.
Oh, a bit of a squealy moment.
Out of Turn 2, down the hill.
These are fast corners where a lot of the downforce comes into play.
But the car looked planted around there.
Once you've come down, you're going back up again into a sort of compression zone,
and it's a double left-hand corner.
You can see how much steering input Mik's having to put in.
The back end really wants to go on the GT3, and Mik's having to correct it every second.
It then goes back downhill to a slow 90 degree right,
before heading out onto a massive long straight, where he can really open the GT3 up.
Sounds good.
On the straight, I haven't heard any gravel yet.
After the straight, he's hard on the brakes to a right-hander,
taking as much kerb as he can.
Again, you can see how much steering input he's having to use here.
Keeping the foot planted for this right-hand corner,
and then there's coming up to another double left-hander on the new circuit.
Hard on the brakes, and sort of misses the first apex, and then clips the second one.
Again, getting really loose on the exit.
The track's now about to go downhill after a chicane,
where he takes all the kerb on the right-hand side, which really unsettles the car again.
The steering input he's having to use to keep this car straight is insane.
I think the tyres are really overheating now.
Then to one of the slowest hairpins on the track,
releasing out of that and coming up to the final corner.
Oh my God.
Are you nervous now?
Yeah, I'm really bad.
The last corner is really tricky.
It's an uphill right-hander.
You don't have to use the brakes that much because the hill slows you down.
Again, look at all the opposite lock to get out of it.
And finally, across the line.
Across the line for Mick Schumacher.
Qualification time set.
I have no idea what time he's just done.
You know, he'll know, but he won't know what I'm about to set.
But there was a lot of squealies there, weren't there?
A lot of squealie tyres.
Oh, I need a nervous wee.
Yeah, not the cleanest of laps.
We had a few squeals.
Yeah, like, you know, turn one,
I wasn't expecting it to have a lot of grip,
but it really didn't have any grip.
I was close in turn one.
Like, I went in a bit softer than I would have normally.
Yeah.
After what I've done with, you know, the passenger lap.
Yeah.
But then turn two, suddenly, like, stepped out
and I couldn't, like, get it under control.
So I was like, okay, at some point I have to catch it also.
I was like, oh, it's true, caught it.
And then I went, like, off and then I came back on
and then the next corner went off again.
It is a tricky one, that.
But I'm hoping with more downforce, I don't have the same issue.
And I don't know if you'll have enough tyres later.
If you keep driving like this.
It's down to me now.
The hours on the sim have come up to this now.
Matt's out at the moment.
What's your predictions?
He's going to get done.
I don't think he's going to stand a chance.
Charlie, what do you think?
No idea.
It's not going to go well for him, I don't think.
For Matt or Mick?
Matt, that day in the office, I'd say.
Now, what Mick doesn't know
is that I've spent hours on the simulator at home
trying to get used to the track, the braking points
and the way the car behaves.
Whether that'll help me on this lap, I don't know.
How far do you think he's going to be off?
Not as far as what I think he is going to be.
Are you sure?
No, I genuinely think it'll be, like, two, three seconds.
I think it'll be more than that.
Six seconds, I think that.
I think, like, five to ten, I think.
I think that's good.
There we go.
So, here we go, out on my lap, into the first corner.
On the simulator, I can take this corner we've just lifted
but I didn't have the bottle to it this time.
I had to tap the brakes.
Oh, we break through there as well.
Let's break through.
But by coming in a lot slower,
it's allowed me to get a good line on the exit.
With no oversteer.
The G-force I've just gone through is insane.
Now, we're going down into the compression zone.
Before it goes back uphill on the double left.
I'm trying not to lift off here because if I do,
the car will go into an oversteer.
And as a downshift, I just had to do a small correction
but nowhere near as much as what Mick had to do with the GT3.
What do you say is, like, one of your biggest achievements in a car?
I mean, I think, obviously, winning a championship is always one.
So, I got the chance to win the F3 and the F2 championship
and then, obviously, that kind of promoted me to Formula 1.
Now, heading downhill into the 90-degree right-hand corner.
Again, very little oversteer and nice and neat.
I've opened up the DRS to give me less drag on the straight
and I almost get to 130 miles an hour before slapping on the brakes.
Taking that as a whole has obviously been amazing
and taking it into Formula 1 has been even better.
And would you say winning today would top all of that?
Yeah.
After the long straight, there's a right-hander
and now I can really use the downforce.
Coming into one of the trickiest corners of the track now.
A big double left.
And look at this compared to the GT3.
No oversteer coming out.
I could open up the steering wheel and the car was so stable.
I sacrificed a bit of speed going into the S's
so I could get a much better exit out again.
But I could genuinely feel the grip and the downforce of this car.
I feel like I could be pushed even further than this.
Coming up to the final corners now.
Here he is, here he comes.
Heading uphill onto the last corner where I made a small mistake.
I clipped the kerb and I went really wide but I had to commit to it.
So much so I forgot the DRS button.
You got the lap times?
Yeah but you've got to wait and see.
Whoa!
I don't know whether that was fast, whether that was slow.
I forgot to open DRS on the last straight.
I don't know how much that's going to matter.
It's going to be interesting to see.
But what an experience nonetheless.
Having so much fun.
How are you feeling after that?
I mean I think you did a great job.
But there were a couple of tweaks in there which I had too.
So I think it'll come out pretty closely I hope.
Let's find out the lap times.
I'm excited.
Sorry you went off in the last corner.
Yeah you said track limits, we had a problem.
It felt neat.
I felt slow.
I really, my balls disintegrated on that first corner.
I slowed down a lot more than I needed.
But it felt neat but also slow at the same time.
So this is what it's come down to.
The lap times.
Was everything worth it?
Do you want me to announce the winner or the loser?
Can you announce who was faster or slower and then we'll go with times.
Okay.
So I can announce that the winner was Matt by...
No!
Two tenths.
No!
Yeah.
No way!
We've had phones, we've got a professional lap timer and you were two tenths faster.
Is this car that much faster or is it genuinely me?
You might as well go.
There it is then.
A 1.59.8 for Mick in the GT3 and my time a 1.59.6.
Can you believe it was that close?
Prepare to deploy smug face.
Really?
Two tenths faster.
So you can buy speed ladies and gentlemen.
You can pay to win.
It genuinely looks like everything that we've done to this car was actually worth it.
The Manti kit and the fact the GT3 RS is a faster car anyway.
But I still can't believe it was that close.
But this didn't play well with Mick.
You were 1.59.6 and Mick was 1.59.8.
Now it was time for revenge.
Right, 1.59.6 to beat.
And it's just started spitting.
No, I don't want to restrict your lap time.
You lot are going to think we fixed that but I still can't believe it.
I still can't believe it but now it's going to really make the difference.
It's about to start raining so hopefully Mick gets a clean lap in.
Now we're about to see in the same car what sort of time Mick can do.
Off he goes.
After our times, we planned on racing the cars together
but Mick wanted to get out in the GT3 RS before it rained
to see how much faster it actually was.
He's not happy.
He is not happy.
Even though I am in a genuinely quicker car, he's driving with vengeance, he is.
And look at this, straight into turn one, no lift.
144 miles an hour entry.
Oh my god, he didn't brake.
He didn't brake.
He's a psycho.
He said he was going to do that.
He was driving like the championship was on the line.
And look how much neater the 3RS was around those corners, even on a slightly damp track.
No more oversteer.
Oh, it's starting to spit.
He's got to put the lap time in now, really.
I want to know, yeah, I want to know now.
But wait, before we show you Mick's lap time, we had a race that we needed to do.
Here we go.
The race.
But to make things more interesting, it's raining.
Yeah, but Mick's got experience on a wet lap now.
Yeah, and also, I think the last time Matt drove a rear wheel drive car in the rain,
it was a Lamborghini Gallardo and it ended up in the ditch.
And he was only doing 30 miles an hour.
The battle of the GT cars.
Now we're going to race it out for real.
Who really is the quicker driver?
This is not good because those tyres are better in the wet than my tyres.
It's pretty wet now, but I think he was cautious, but so am I.
And we're off.
I got a better start again in the GT3 RS.
It holds to the road so much better, but I tried to close off the inside line,
which meant sacrificing my line onto the second corner, going wide.
The Chewbacca up the inside for second, goes through, fantastic.
Armstrong gets forced out wide.
Those two side by side around this track.
Which now meant I was trailing Chewbacca.
Words I never thought would leave my mouth.
But can I stay with him?
I'm confident the GT3 RS can take the corners faster.
Matt must have gone in too hot.
Matt's going to chase him though.
This was something I've never experienced before.
Chasing a Formula One driver.
Matt's not done too bad.
Yeah, Matt's done alright.
And now onto the final straight.
And across the line.
But there you have it.
A Formula One driver is faster in a GT3 than a GT3 RS.
Well done to Mick.
That was one of the best things I've ever done.
But regardless of the outcome, what an amazing experience I've just had.
Let alone to meet Mick, but to share a track with him
and seeing him drive both cars that we've rebuilt.
And regardless of his background,
he's still a down to earth petrol head like all of us.
Wow.
And he's also started a YouTube channel so you can see his side of the day.
But wait, we need to see his lap time in the GT3 RS.
Three seconds faster.
Yeah, look at that.
On both.
Oh my god.
He'll go quicker as well.
That's it.
I think he'll go again.
Oh my god.
That was fun.
What a video that was.
That was one to remember.
Thanks so much for watching this video.
If you enjoyed it, hit the subscribe button, hit that thumbs up button
and see you in the next video.
It wouldn't be a track day without Matt in the gravel, would it?
You're like the grid girl.
