Welcome back, today I thought I'd take you through Robin's fantastic song The Blues for
the Muse from Five Thousand Spirits. It's the standard tuning. I think the most complicated
part of this song is the rhythm on the guitar if you can strum it. The rest of it is just
really a three chord blues with one extra chord thrown in one place. So it's in the key of A.
I think you need to play a long A, so you put an A chord down, but then you put your finger,
little finger, on the top two strings of the fifth fret. So that's the sound you're aiming for.
And it's sixth string, fifth string, strum down. So it's bass, bass, down, down, up, down, down,
up, bass, bass, down, down, up, bass, bass, down, down, up, down, up, down, down.
The chords themselves are fairly straightforward. It's just working out where the chords change.
I'll take you through it very quickly. So it starts off, I wake up in the morning when I
see my day walking. Wake up in the morning when it starts to begin. Drinking my coffee,
drive change away. And I think, it's an E chord. I think about leaving the main for day.
Because day is A. Oh, cold, loving, yes, that's an A chord. Most of the time it's E. I want
D. Like they say, I can play B to E. Most any morning, most any morning, A. I like to be
blank as D. According to my guitar, day, back to A. Say it's all butterflies. Don't let dreams get
in your eyes. But of course, D made the sunrise because he knew he had to play. She sings so
faded, D. I call her my sweet guitar lady, A. She's a noted writer. Noted is E. Just can't seem
to let her be, A. She is my flower, D. I call my easy hour, A. She's a low E cut special. Baby,
that's enough for me, A. You're in the graveyard now, A. You're in the graveyard now. You may weep,
D. You may moan, A. You may pass, D. Your life's so gay. You're lucky in life, I swear,
sometimes you're gonna have to meet your leaving day. Well, she sings like a sea shore, D. Tonight
I'm gonna ride on your sea shore, A. I will call up the angels. They have a little word to say,
A. I think I'll try a cloud walking. It's just my fear you see here, Tom, A. M, that's just my
guitar singing. Guitar singing is E. And I have to let her have her. So it's a cracking song. If
you can play the harmonica that would be even better. It's about getting that driving rhythm
when you play it all the way through. Chord change is fairly straightforward. It's just
getting that rhythm, keeping that rhythm. So I hope that's been helpful. I hope you know
when you should play it. If you've got any questions or comments, leave them in the box
