Potato gratin - a refined French dish
Potato gratin is a refined French dish that consists of thin potato slices that are baked in cream and refined with garlic and cheese. It is perfectly suitable as an independent dish or as a side dish to meat or fish.
Ingredients:
• Potatoes - 1 kg
• Milk - 350 ml
• whipped cream - 150 ml
• Knoblauch - 4 toes
• Butter - 50 g
• hard cheese (e.g. Gruyère or Parmesan) - 150 g
Onion
• Salt and black pepper - to taste
• Thyme - at will
Preparation:
1. Peel the potatoes and cut into thin slices (approx. 3 mm).
2. Finely grate the cheese.
3. Mix milk, cream, chopped garlic, nutmeg, salt and pepper in a small pot. Boil the mixture and then remove from the stove.
4. Grease a baking dish with butter. Place a layer in potatoes, sprinkle with a little cheese and add thyme if desired. Repeat this process until all the ingredients are used up and complete cheese with a layer.
5. Pour the potatoes with the milk and cream mixture, so that all layers are covered.
6. Cover the shape with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven at 180 ° C for about 45 minutes. Then remove the film and bake for another 15–20 minutes until a golden brown crust is created.
7. Let the gratin cool before serving and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Enjoy the delicate and aromatic potato gratin!
