In this video, I dive into an unfortunate issue with Gillo risers; why limbs get stuck and won’t come out when the lateral limb bolts are tightened properly.

I tested this issue with a torque-limiting screwdriver and found that even at just 2 Nm (below spec for an M5 fastener), the ILF dovetail was already pinched so tightly that the limb locked in place. At just 0.56 Nm the limb finally came free, far below what’s needed to keep fasteners secure.

After disassembling the lateral limb adjustment block, I show the root cause: the grub screws deform the dovetail slot itself, creating the binding problem. With a slight design tweak to where the screws push, this could easily be avoided.

I’m not a hater, I actually like Gillo risers and the people behind them but this flaw makes ownership frustrating. Hopefully this breakdown helps explain the issue and starts the conversation toward a fix.

I incorrectly said I was using Pound, Feet-Inches... I was actually using Pound-Force, Inches, my bad!
