People in some parts of the country can
now buy Ford cars and trucks on Amazon.
And the pre-owned vehicles are certified
by Ford dealerships. And today's David
Lamb reports.
Ford announced a partnership with Amazon
Autos on Monday to help with the car
buying process. Ford says customers will
be able to shop a participating dealers
inventory of used vehicles directly
through Amazon. Most of the paperwork
can be done online and people can
schedule a time to test drive and pick
up the vehicle. The program is launching
in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas for
now. Timothy Flity, a resident of
California, says he thinks it's a good
idea
>> cuz Amazon is like blowing up and going
through new uh changes. I guess
>> car makers have been trying to provide
smoother online shopping for people
concerned with spending hours at
dealerships, but Flirty says there are
still some difficulties with ordering
things online
>> cuz I don't know the fabric, the size
and stuff like that. So, I don't really
like to shop online. If I do, I ask my
partner and she does pretty good online.
>> Uh online car, I don't trust online
vehicle to buy them unless it's brand
new. Uh, I'd like to see the car in
person.
>> The cars are backed by a Ford warranty
and gives shoppers a money back
guarantee if they decide to return the
vehicle within 2 weeks. A limousine
company owner says his experience makes
him skeptical when it comes to
warranties
>> because they end up like they say we
warranty engine transmission but a small
part
uh typically in the vehicle is not
working. Okay. So
>> I see
>> kind of I don't trust it, you know.
>> I I see like a rear certified say bumper
to bumper.
>> Now we talk, you know.
>> According to Ford, its program covers
cars up to 10 years old that go through
at least a 127 point inspection. Some
vehicles have a one-year warranty.
Amazon facilitates the initial online
transaction, and the local Ford
dealership handles the rest. In 2023,
Hyundai announced it would sell new cars
on Amazon and became the first car maker
to do so. A spokesperson for Amazon
Autos said Ford is the second car
company to offer its models on the
platform. David Lamb, Entity News,
