Yo, my name is Ryan Parrington, I'm 17 years old, I'm from Lisa Vale, California, and I race professional downhill mountain bikes.
So, I started racing probably, I'd say, 6 years ago, at the local Fontana Southridge Series, and I got into it by probably 9 years ago.
My brother and his friend kind of just started, and I always saw it on YouTube, and I thought it was really cool, so I just gave it a shot, and I love it.
So, last season was probably amazing, like, I didn't know what to expect going into it, and I started off real strong with the 7th, and then it was kind of rocky after there, like, flat tire, and then didn't kind of perform.
And then after National Champs, I got some confidence back, and then started getting some top fives, and then at the last race in Val di Sole I got 2nd, so that was really sick.
This year I'm just excited to see how this training has paid off, and if I can get some wins.
Some things I've learned is, like, kind of just patience, like, learn, and then when you start feeling confident, give it your all, because that's what you've got to do.
Probably the hardest part about World Cups is, like, the changes to the track.
Like, even if it's dry, it still gets blown out and stuff, but then when rain and stuff comes in, sometimes you don't even see the track until you're racing, so it's really difficult.
And I wouldn't say the tracks are much harder than here, it's just a competition, so you've really got to elevate yourself and go a lot faster overseas.
So, as I move into Elite next year, I'm going to do all the World Cups still, and I plan to be riding for GT Factory Racing still, that's the plan.
This off-season I've really been focusing on just, like, a lot more gym work, like getting upper body strength, as well as fitness.
I'd say it's definitely put off really good, I've got some good results, and I feel a lot better on the bike.
If you weren't racing, what would you be doing?
Probably a professional video game player, I'm pretty good at that, so probably that.
Do you know how to make scrambled eggs?
Nah, definitely not.
So, being raised by Brian Lowes, he's pretty good, he's definitely helped me a lot with a lot of tips and stuff, but kind of reversed it now, I'm definitely giving him some hard time.
He's still got me on certain things, but I'm definitely catching up.
What are your plans, or what do you want to do after racing?
I don't know, I want to maybe be an engineer, which seems like something I want to do, so, yeah.
Ok, In-N-Out or Chick-fil-A, you love both.
In-N-Out.
All day long?
Yeah.
Does Wynn Masters give you for consuming so much soda?
A lot, definitely, it's definitely cut, the consumption is definitely cut down this year, so it'll be different.
What's your soda of choice?
Dr. Pepper.
Sick day out here at Crestline California filming, stuff for the season, later!
