Hey guys, on this urban exploration I take you to a McDonald’s in the Columbus area in a place called Sunbury. The McDonald’s restaurant itself is not special, but it is located on a piece of land with an outdoor seating area and a place to walk your dog. But that’s not all! McDonald’s original vintage characters are here in a roadside sculpture featuring the happy meal gang. This is a photo op for travelers on interstate 71. Next time you are in Columbus make sure to grab a coffee or a burger and fries and say hi to Ronald McDonald.

Hey guys, today we are in Sunberry,
Ohio. We are on our way to Columbus and
there's this awesome
basically roadside attraction.
And
what you're seeing behind me, you're
like, "What are you talking about?
That's a Boxy McDonald's." Well, I'll
show you what's unique about this place.
This is amazing.
So, Boxy McDonald's on the side of the
road.
Not that unique.
Look what's behind me. Oh, it's a
seating area. Wait, wait. What's that
hand?
Are you kidding me right now?
This is so awesome.
This is so cool.
Now, I don't know when this was put
here.
Obviously, it's very retro,
and I'm thinking like,
why did they keep it here? Don't they
always get rid of stuff like this?
But thank goodness, it's still here.
This is a great photo opportunity.
And you even have the outdoor seating.
I absolutely love these characters.
petition to bring back Ronald McDonald
and crew.
It says, "Please do not climb on the
statue.
No dogs allowed." But they got an area
back here
where
they have um
doggy waste
bags. So you could walk
your dog here.
So it's kind of like
I feel like this is kind of like um
a rest stop
McDonald's. And another unique thing,
there's a pond in the back of the
McDonald's.
Pretty awesome.
I did go in the restaurant. It's not
unique at all. They really could
capitalize on that though. They they
don't have to leave it a standard box.
Um they could put something unique in
there.
See, they got
the phto house,
which you don't really see that at
McDonald's. But let's go look at the
seating area.
Does anyone remember the playground that
McDonald's used to have where you could
climb inside the hamburger and stuff?
Now,
I did play in one of those in
Pennsylvania when I was a kid, even
though when I was a kid those were
pretty much phased out, but there was
still this random one that was still
there.
And I it was so cool. And I was thinking
like, why aren't there more of these?
I know some people that are a little
older than me remember that really,
really well.
So, here's our seating area, which is
very nice.
Nice metal benches
and the flag. I think that's pretty
unique as well as the sign.
Let's look at the back of the statue to
see if there's anything to see. They
even put the stripes on the back like
that. Oh, he's kind of flat in the back.
Wait, somebody carved their initials in
the back.
Is that like who
made the statue? Maybe those are the
artists.
Interesting.
Okay, we are going to look at the
restaurant
just to show it to you.
It's not terribly unique,
but I mean, it's not unique at all.
I'm trying to think when this became a
box
cuz I know I've been through Sunberry
before and I I might have actually been
here before, like a few years back,
maybe 10 years ago or more. 156.
That's the inside.
There is
kind of a lot of people in here, but um
they got the standard uh weird murals on
the wall, the fake wood and everything
like that. It's not really anything to
write home about. Didn't put any
characters in here.
So, this isn't something great.
So
anyways,
just thought I would show it.
And then health sponsors of Ohio State.
There is the sign up close. Actually,
this is unique cuz I don't think I've
seen
uh video
like a moving uh marquee like this.
63° Fahrenheit. Yeah, it's a really nice
day out.
[Music]
All right, guys. One more time, we're
going to look at this. I just saw two
people come up to this and be like, "Oh
my gosh." And they took pictures here.
So, this is definitely a tourist
attraction.
I'm telling you, the unique McDonald's,
like the one in Independence, the one
here, the ones that have something
unique, those McDonald's get more
business. So, McDonald's, you should
keep doing stuff like this.
But there he is.
Ronald and his friends.
It's absolutely magnificent.
All right, guys. I hope you enjoyed my
look at this amazing McDonald's statue
roadside attraction off of I71 here in
Sunberry, Ohio. If you're ever in the
area, you come to Columbus, check it
out. It's so nostalgic. It's totally
worth stopping off the side of the road
like I did. Just grab a coffee, go check
out the statue, and it'll be a great
time. All right, I'll see you guys on
the next video.
