7-year-old girl shot while in backseat of car: Police

New tonight, a 7-year-old is rushed to the hospital after being shot twice while riding in a car in North Philadelphia. Police say the shooter intentionally started shooting into that vehicle. Action News reporter Leland Pender joins us live outside of police headquarters with the details. Leilen >> Rick, that seven-year-old girl in the hospital tonight in stable condition after being shot in the arm. Just before 7:30, police were notified a seven-year-old girl had been driven to Temple Hospital after being struck by gunfire. Responding officers found the shooting scene in a 300 block of North Marshall Street in North Philadelphia, where at least five shots were fired. Three of them into the vehicle the child was riding in as a backseat passenger. Police say two adult family members were also in the car. Police say the Honda sedan was headed south on Marshall when bullets came flying inside. Police believe the vehicle was the intended target. >> It was struck three times by gunfire and that's when family realized that the seven-year-old in the vehicle was struck by gunfire and they immediately they drove right to Temple Hospital. >> Police say there are several private cameras in the area and they're working to obtain that video. They say video does show the shooter on foot. Now, tonight, no arrests have been made and no motive has been released why that car was being targeted, but again, thankfully that seven-year-old girl is expected to survive.
