But do you see this price tag right
here?
>> How much is that?
>> $500.
>> Hold on. Normal normally we really try
to um organize things. But last year we
were in such a hurry that uh we just
threw it.
>> Okay. That's why I thought that whole
basket was going
>> look. I mean who you got to put your
letters to Zana in here. This is crazy
to me. I love it y'all. I love it. All
right y'all. Welcome to my house. In
today's video, we are diving in to go
through all of our Christmas decor to
see what we can reuse because as much as
we like buying stuff, we like to reuse
what we already got. And we've been
talking a lot about this McKenzie
Child's Christmas theme. So, Lauren's
going to do a deep dive and show us
exactly who she is, what her vibe is, so
that we're up to speed on all the
things. And it's going to be a lot of
fun. So, come along. I'm so excited to
invite you into our very blank white
home and we're going to turn it into a
Christmas wonderland all month long.
Okay, Lauren, you're going to give us a
deep dive on who the heck this lady is.
>> So, I'm just going to be real honest. I
don't know really who she is and I've
heard of the stuff before. um but never
really
personally
um gotten into it only because you know
it can be a little pricey. Um so I do
>> let's go to that Christmas section. Uh
we got to see her Christmas.
>> Okay.
>> Interesting. This is so interesting.
>> This is kind of similar to what Courtney
was wanting to go for with the like
ornaments.
>> Yeah.
>> But do you see this price tag right
here?
>> How much is that? 500 $500.
>> Yes. So,
>> okay y'all, these little trees I saw
everywhere at Hobby Lobby and at
Walmart. They were $20. On her website,
it's $250.
>> So, those trees are actually knockoffs
off of a vintage tree, like the vintage
ceramic trees.
>> Wait, this is a knockoff of the
knockoff?
>> No, no, she does her own thing. But
these vintage ceramic trees have been
around for ever. And so the old the the
actual vintage ones started coming back
in style a couple years ago and so
everybody started making more because
the the vintage ones they're either
broken or they have lots missing and
they're very expensive if you find
>> Okay, this is so interesting. Like she
has a lot of checkered.
>> A lot of her stuff does incorporate the
checked pattern uh very much so. Now
this I could definitely see Courtney um
having. It's just
>> is that $200 for one
>> for a tabletop ornament? for one
>> for one tabletop mug,
>> y'all. I I like money, but I like money
in my pocket.
>> $100 for four mugs.
>> I mean, each their own, but baby girls,
like, what are we doing?
>> I mean, I definitely, as crafters, like,
we can look at this as inspiration, but
this is definitely something that we can
recreate.
>> Yeah. So, I'm a little shook right now.
I did not expect I don't know what I was
expecting when I was thinking Mackenzie
Childs. It definitely wasn't that. And
those prices, can I just say like we
just did a full video showing Lauren
everything we bought. Lauren, we spent
maybe a little bit more than $500. Okay.
$600, $700 probably total. But I had a
carload of stuff.
>> Right. This is another one that Courtney
was. So there we have a we were going to
do a try to do this as a dupe for the
front porch. Not in these colors in
different colors, but this price tag
$750
for this was why we were going to do a
dupe.
>> Why we were going to do it ourselves.
>> Y'all, if some if you're out there and
you're a crafter spending this kind of
money, like you need to get your
creative hat on. like creative like it's
time to DIY. Like this is why we DIY
because we want to have high-end feel.
We want to have high-end look, but we
don't want to spend high-end money
because we value money in our pocket. We
value the journey. We value the
experience of getting like that is what
we get our excitement satisfaction of
actually completing something yourself
>> and doing it for far less like far less.
like it feels like you're I don't want
to say like stealing, but it feels like
it's such an overd deliver because you
get to, you know, get your hands dirty.
You get to play with the paint. You get
to like dig in and then you spend
very low percentage points of what even
one item would be. Like that is just
crazy. But you've already seen us shop.
You've already seen Lauren's reaction to
everything we've already bought, which
this just reaffirms how good we did.
>> I'm telling you. I'm telling you. That's
why I was like, I can see her vision. I
see where she's going. We're not going
full Mackenzie Child, but we're going to
I can see now why she may want to sand
those Christmas tree downs and maybe do
a checked on one layer and like red and
stripes on the other in blue and one
layer is green. I can see it.
>> Yeah. But now Lauren and I are going to
dig in and get inside the attic and
figure out what we may want to pull down
and use for this year. I already have
some ideas of some things that I know
are up there that I think
>> you are definitely not dressed
appropriately for this.
>> I'm not, but that's okay. Let's go.
>> Oh my gosh. Okay, y'all. You're at our
house. One thing about our house is it's
just like this wide open floor plan.
When we bought this house, the like
kitchen area, this dining room area,
they didn't even have a dining room. It
was a bar. It was really odd. Um, so we
took out the bar. Obviously, I was like,
"This house is very large and there was
no place to host Thanksgiving." Like,
what the point? Um, but anyway, this
room is going to transform. We're so
excited. So, we're heading out to the
attic. This is our like mud room,
laundry. This is our uh like mud room.
And then you come out here and this is
our garage. And then when you get out
here, you will see I actually I don't
know Lauren knows this. I tried to turn
this attic into an office and I brought
a contractor out here and everything and
he's like, "Tanner, it's not big
enough." So, we're going to go up here,
check it out. There's lighting in there.
Like, it feels like it could be an
office, but they say it can't be. So,
let's head up.
>> Okay.
>> I normally can, but I'm not having I'm
having issues.
There we go.
>> Now you got to There you go.
>> I know how to get it down, but sometimes
I have issues reaching.
>> Here we go, y'all. Come on up.
>> This is actually I don't want to say it
does. We're heading up here, but Oh god.
This is literally just Christmas.
>> Yeah, it's all just Christmas.
>> Oh, why is it is it air conditioned in
here?
>> No, Tanner.
>> Here.
>> Oh, wow. We really just uh stuffed it in
here. Last year we did No, Normally we
try to Okay, hold on.
>> Go ahead.
>> Hold on. Normal normally we really try
to um organize things, but last year we
were in such a hurry that uh we just
threw it. We really did just throw it up
here. Okay. Cool.
>> Oh no. Oh, lost the tree.
>> No, it just goes together like that. I
do think those need to go down. I think
those are going to be used. Okay,
>> for sure. Um, the other things that I
was thinking about, this is going, no
doubt about it. We got this at the
thrift store last year.
>> Love.
>> Yeah, we got this at the thrift store.
We stood in line actually to get that at
the store.
>> Embarrassing.
>> I can't help it. Um, another thing that
I do think goes with the theme that I
knew was up here
are these guys. I think these guys would
definitely go with the theme. And then
And what is in all these bags?
>> So there are a lot
>> the garland.
>> There is a lot of garland in this bag in
in these bags. So
we have and we have them labeled. So
this is the stairs garland.
>> Okay. Is that Kevin? Can I throw this
down?
>> Yes, you can throw that down.
>> Of course it would get stuck. Of course
it would get stuck. Oh no. You have to.
This is Tanner's first time throwing
stuff down out of the attic. It's okay.
>> Somehow I always miss this.
>> This is normally a me and Courtney
thing.
>> This is normally me and Courtney.
>> Yes, that's window garland.
>> Okay, here's some more window garland
here.
So, one thing that we normally always
do, and actually, let me turn you back
around. Um, normally it looks better
than this, but I want to show you. We
try to keep things separated by theme.
So, we try to keep things separated by
theme. This one was a year that they did
black and white and sage, which we have
all of that here. This was a year, and
this is kind of what I was thinking. So,
this is going to be more of like a
whimsy
red, white, cream box here. This is a
very neutral amber
um and gold box here. Um but we try to
keep things kind of separated by boxes
um depending on theme. And then what
we'll do, and sometimes we're not really
great at it, but what we'll do is we're
like, "Okay, we know in the neutral box
we have ornaments like
these guys that could go with this year.
So, we'll come to the neutral box and
we'll grab them." Or these that could go
with this year's theme. So, that is how
we kind of keep it organized and how we
are able to find what we need. realize
where it's at and then go from there.
Like I doubt we'll get anything from the
black and white box this year. I don't
think that's the move. But I do think
that there are This is just a random um
like you can see this is just a random
supply box to be real honest right here.
So yeah, now it's just time
for us to
kind of more so go through these boxes
and find what is going to work this year
and kind of make it a new box. So let's
go from there. So I think I'm just going
to go ahead and grab
everything from this red box here. There
are some things like I don't know. We'll
we'll take it down. There are some also
some bottle brush trees in here,
some ribbon. Like this is not going to
go. I don't
I don't think this is the vibe this
year. I don't know. Maybe it is. I'll
just leave it in there. Um that is not
the vibe.
This is just a red painted um piece of
wood from with the wood pile from Hobby
Lobby. More than likely, we will take
this off and we'll redo this and this
can be reused for shelf decor.
Okay.
I think the red pillows will work.
>> Yeah, I think we'll go with the red
pillows for sure. U the those are the
orange ones are fall. No, no, no.
There's There's wood.
>> Oh, okay. There's more.
>> Do we think these are making it for for
this year?
>> No. I don't I don't know. I love I love
them. I love them, but I don't know.
>> They may I don't know. That's This is
why I kind of need Courtney here
sometimes.
We did also keep the um
paper stars that we did last year. We
kept them. I don't know that they're
going to be reused. So, I will set them
over here
for right now. These also need to go
down. Here are just some more stockings.
Gold metal bells.
Those are big. This is the bottom of a
tree, but I don't know where the tree is
at. So, this needs to go down. You said
Courtney wasn't wanting to do a lot of
wood this year, but do you
>> I don't know if she wanted like you said
like do you reuse our wood?
>> I kind of like these.
>> Maybe we'll
>> Let's bring them down.
>> Let's bring them use all of them.
>> Okay. Well, they're heavy.
>> Look at these little Look at this red.
>> Yeah, we're bringing it for sure.
>> Okay.
>> These are heavy. I'm just letting you
know.
>> Oh my word.
>> Yeah, you have to kind of put it in
front of you and walk down.
I have a very specific way I put those
in here. Just so you all are aware.
Normally, it's me and Courtney getting
this stuff down. So, I'm actually very
happy that we have Tanner here helping
us today. Here are some more. Oh, here
is a great here's a little great thing.
A great little trick. We bought these
bells um from Hobby Lobby or Amazon, I
can't remember, just in a large pack
unfinished. We love creating um like
taking a wooden bowl or a dough bowl or
some kind of like decorative dish and
adding the bells in the dish or just
kind of like sprinkling them on the
shelf for a shelf filler.
Great little hack and it adds a touch of
gold wherever you need it. So, I love
doing that. Grab you some some little
bells. I don't think that this is going
to be used this year. This is the Merry
Christmas sign that we made last year
with the gold HTV. Um, I love it. I just
don't think it fits the vibe this year,
but we're not getting rid of it because
we could repaint this later and put a
different design on it or we could
repaint it this year. It really just
depends. But as of right now, this one
is not going downstairs. We're going to
leave it up here for right now. Oh, here
are some red berries and some greenery.
[Music]
Having things organized and going
through them and kind of having an idea
of what you have and what you don't have
is really going to be the key to
creating that magical Christmas and not
having to break the bank every year
doing it.
>> I love this large pot.
>> I also love that large pot. And I think
that
I mean I don't know that Courtney would
want to paint that, but that would want
to be an easy one to paint.
>> Yeah.
>> If that's something she wanted to do.
>> Yeah.
>> Um definitely. Has she said anything
about the tree skirt? I think that
>> we had a whole tree skirt segment.
>> Oh, okay.
>> We have not came to any conclusions. No
conclusions yet.
>> No tree skirt conclusions. Okay. Well,
>> how does this make you feel after doing
an audit? After doing an audit and
looking, first of all, we got quite a
bit of stuff down. You all can see we
got quite a bit.
>> Now, you left quite a bit of garland and
greenery back there.
>> Yes, I know. No, it's just I hadn't got
there to it.
>> Oh, okay.
>> But we can go ahead and grab that. Um,
see, that's a paper star right there.
That's a bag of paper stars.
Oh, I forgot about all of this greenery.
Yeah. Um,
>> this is our mantel greenery.
>> Yeah, I know. Oh, it does need to go.
>> Is it making it?
>> Oh, wait. Yeah. Um, and we'll have to
take the Yes, it's going to make it.
>> Okay.
>> Cuz it's got the red berries in it. I
think it's a for sure. And that could
probably just be tossed down.
>> Okay. I was going to ask.
>> No, that can be tossed down for sure.
I do need to check this. This says
window garland as well. Wait,
are we doing garland on the big window
like we did last year? It was very
pretty.
>> It was adorable.
Um,
I think so with the with the window
decor that I'm making, I think we need
to.
>> Okay. So, we are going to go with the
big window garland again.
>> Is this box coming?
>> No, that box is not. Let's check this
one.
>> Okay, so here is a box. Hold on just a
minute.
>> Oh, it's a lot of green up. This one was
the black and white. Uh,
>> was this okay? Was this theme even at
this house?
>> No, this theme was not at this house.
This theme was at the old house, but
like
>> I could see this guy
>> making it. So,
>> making it for sure
>> with like a little red bow around his
neck. He look He looks very whimsy to
me.
>> Part of me feels like those guys have to
go for sure.
>> Hold on.
>> Okay, y'all. This is literally so far
out of my realm of genius. Like Courtney
and Lauren every year have spent a whole
day
>> batting.
>> Quilt batting.
>> Quilt batting. It's a polyfill.
>> Polyfill. Okay. Okay. Well, we we It's
nice to have um Okay. Do we need this?
Will we hold up this little uh wooden
Oh, what's in here?
>> These old bottle brush trees.
>> Okay.
>> I don't think
>> I don't think they're making it this
season.
>> Okay. Lauren, what do you think about
this like tree shelf that we had at the
coffee station? Do we need this as part
of the cocoa station or are we good? Are
we good with it? Let's hold it up. It's
big.
>> It's big, but I maybe too big.
>> Too modern.
>> Yeah, we're going a little more
>> older. Winsy, y'all listen. What did you
guys expect? I Listen, I'm telling you,
we're keeping you on your toes this
year. Uh you just never know what you're
gonna find with us. I mean, we're in an
attic right now. Like, can we just talk
about how you're seeing the raw? You're
seeing the real. Like, this is crazy to
me. Like, we usually have such a
polished show. No, the the show is went
from polished to real.
Um, this is crazy.
>> Definitely.
>> Okay. That's why I thought that whole
basket was going
>> look. I mean, who you got to put your
letters to Zana in here. Okay, Lauren,
pull up some of these big pieces of art
and let's talk about what we could do.
Like what's the vibe? Cuz this is an old
one. We used to have a wreath on this
one on this guy. So, it was like a DIY.
We cricketed this um and then the wreath
was the O. But, uh let's see this one
cuz Satie painted this last year. Y'all,
Satie is such an artist. Like true
artist giving vibes. This is crazy to
me. I mean, honestly,
I love it, y'all. I love it.
>> I do love this.
>> I love it. I don't know if it's not
enough color.
>> I know. Maybe we just need to DIY a big
piece of
>> art. Maybe we may have to do a big
piece, y'all.
>> Seeing that these other two pieces,
everything we pulled out has been DIY.
Why not
>> Yeah, we need to get a new We need
something bold. We need something big um
this year. So, that'll be super fun. So,
okay, Lauren,
>> honestly, our favorite thing to do. Let
me just show you guys this. So,
>> this is a great hack.
>> This was not how it was bought.
>> No,
>> this was actually just a regular canvas
>> bought at Hobby Lobby
>> for clearance.
>> Oh my gosh. $31.
>> $31 and probably extra 40% off
>> on top of that. So, like 20 bucks.
>> Yeah.
>> Like that's crazy. And then we just
painted it. Like come on. This is
incredible. Super super good. Is there
anything else you see up here that we
need? Oh, she saw something. She saw
something. Let's check it out. Let's
check it out. Oh, now those could be
really good. Lauren,
we may Okay, here. To be honest with you
guys, we may come up here like one more
time after we start like actually
decorating and kind of shop here one
more time in the attic. Oh my gosh.
>> I do think we need that down for
>> the shelves. Hello
that. But like I'm not I'm not so
>> Yeah, that's out. That's not whimsy.
That's giving farmhouse.
>> Keep them. And I think that they would
be great.
>> I just don't think Courtney
>> Yeah. For another theme like in another
small pivot, we could totally use those.
So like we wouldn't throw them away.
like you're you're seeing us like say no
to stuff, but it's not because we're
gonna like throw it away because you
never know. Next year's theme could
quickly need it. So anyway, it's nice to
have a good little stockpile. Um, okay.
This is definitely coming with us. I'm
so excited. Okay. Um, Lauren, to be
honest with you, I have to run to
therapy. So, I don't know if you want to
do a little audit with them of
everything downstairs and then send out.
Y'all, this is so fun. Christmas is
coming together.
>> Okay, guys. I'm gonna turn you off and
get down out of here and then we'll do
an audit when we get back down.
>> Down here,
>> it's not that scary, but I am going to
turn you off. Okay, y'all. Now that we
are down from the attic and I'm looking
at everything that we have, we're going
to kind of take stock of what we have.
Um, we're not going to take it in the
house yet until we are ready to actually
decorate. Um, but just to kind of show
you some of the things that we pulled
down. Um, we did pull from like
different themes. We have these now. We
used these last year. So last year we
were starting to incorporate some red.
Um we weren't fully committed to red
yet, but we started incorporating some
red. So we do have some of these
accordion paper trees that we pulled
down. Um we do have some wood elements.
So I know Courtney at first she didn't
buy any wood yesterday, but the shape of
these are ve still very whimsy and I
think are going to go really really
great with the theme. So we have those.
We do have a lot of bottle brush trees
that we brought down. Oh, this guy is
super cute. And I didn't see him. Um,
there's a couple. So, this is super cute
that we pulled down. Also a thrift find.
I'm pretty sure we got that from the
thrift store. And then
this guy is super cute. This is like
metal. I did say that we weren't doing a
lot of black, but I think this one is
going to be really good. I think it's
going to be a good little accent. Um,
who knows? We may decide to paint him
gold. I don't know. That is why just
because something is one way in the
store, I want you all to really kind of
step back and think like, can this go if
I were to paint it or if I were to
change it. So, this is one that I really
like. It may be changed. Um, let me just
go ahead and pick you up and show you
some things here in this one. We do have
some bells. We use these bells a lot um
over the years. You can never go wrong
with that. Here are some gold. Like
these may be used. I don't know. Like
are they too modern? I'm still on the
fence about those, but they're a
possibility. Here's some more wood that
we could possibly incorporate. We do
also have like very very large bells
like this. Um more bottle brush trees.
Here are stockings. I'm not really sure
which route we're going to go. They're
going to go with stockings this year.
Um, these are always great. You can
never go wrong with just plain
stockings. Um, I did pull this one, but
like there's only one of them, so I
doubt we will use that one because there
is only one and they have a family of
five now. And then here's another
option. I don't know. Like we'll just
have to see what goes. Um, but we did
pull a lot of stuff down. So, we have
these two boxes. And then we also have
this box that has those red ornaments
and then those white spiral ones. Once
again, not sure, but if Courtney wants a
full tree, then we're going to have to
use everything we can. We did pull these
down. Here are some more white stockings
there with a bell in it. This garland
with the red berries is going to be
perfect. We did pull down those red
pillows. And then, oh my god, I'm so
excited about this little bear. I think
he's going to be so cute. And actually,
I think I said something about a red
ribbon on his neck, but I think we're
going to go blue. So, that is what we're
missing a lot of. We have the red. We
have the green, but we're missing the
blue in all of this. So, that's going to
be So, the the blue is where a lot of
our DIY is going to come in. I think
we're going to have a lot of that blue
in our DIYs. So, if you have liked this
