Alright what's up guys welcome back to the channel we got to talking the other day
and we're thinking what's our effective range really it's all relative depends on the situation
the weather the wind the lighting whether or not you're hiking up hiking down you know out
of breath out of shape haven't practiced so we thought hey it'd be pretty cool we make a target
bring it out here to the range we'll set it up to where we shoot 30 yards back to 100 yards
we'll have rings on there that corresponds with the yardage that we're shooting so for example
three inch spot for 30 yards four inch ring for 40 so on and so forth all the way out to 100 it
does get a little tight a 10 inch group at 100 is actually really good so we'll kind of shoot it
just kind of see where we're at it's early before way before hunting season so hopefully we can do
this kind of get a baseline we're gonna be doing a lot of shooting in the next few months we do
want to come back and try this again and see see how our groups compare see uh if all the
shooting we did actually helped us let's go check out the target i'll kind of explain what we're
doing we just shot 30 yards kind of give us our starting point i've got a target here with a three
inch orange dot so if we go at it strict i didn't even make it past 30 yards this dot is is three
inches so all of my arrows should be within this three inch orange circle obviously i have one in
the four which that would be the four inch circle for 40 yards so you can see we have four inch
circles all the way out to 24 inch circle so it'll kind of give us an idea of where we're at as far
back as we go you know 60 70 80 90 yards kind of see how big of a group that we get consistency
wise like i said we'll come back in a couple months we'll we'll do this again and hopefully
we have a lot better results we just saw travis's first shots at 30 so i got one in the middle but
i'm hoping to get some more in the middle here today in the 10 ring but we're going to be working
our way back all the way back to about 100 yards today let us know in the comments section today
what you guys think a good group is at 30 yards 40 yards 100 you know what your guys's effective
range is that you would actually feel confident going out in the field and shooting whether it's
a deer you know pig whatever it is you're hunting we're looking to get you guys involved in uh in
what we're doing out here with the videos that we're shooting so your feedback is super appreciated
be sure to comment like the video and subscribe that really helps us out a lot uh and drives us
to keep shooting more content for you guys and we love hearing from you so let us know exactly what
you're looking for and we'll see if we can incorporate that into some upcoming shoots
that we have planned thanks again for watching and enjoy the video all right so we just shot at 40
here's travis's grouping right here so let us know how you guys what you guys consider a grouping
measurement so obviously we're aiming at the middle of the orange you know target and he's got
one that's down here to the six ring so we're considering this a six inch group you know we've
seen other people that do like you know they would just compare these three arrows and say
oh they're all within three inches of each other but they were aiming here so we don't like to do
that uh kind of the reason why we did this target with the numbering like this was to show that okay
this arrow right here is six uh from the actual center so that's how we're measuring our groups
uh today if you guys you know don't do it like that no problem let us you know let us know how
you do it and why you prefer to do it that way go over to mine i clearly have a seven from the
center you know these two shots were a lot better but my worst shot was here in the seven so i'm
calling this uh you know a seven from center so that's my grouping we're not trying to have a nice
grouping way up here in the left corner when we're aiming here hopefully that makes sense
shot 50 winds picking up a little bit the first two shots were glad so i had to aim off
aim off on the right so hopefully ryan can do that do a little bit better
group than mine i think mine's a six inch group at 50 so still not quite there
all right just finished shooting 60 and the wind was really picking up probably somewhere in
between 10 to 15 miles an hour give or take and it kind of fluctuates obviously it's not constant
so my first shot went way left and that's why you'll see i'm pretty far left on my first shot
because that the wind got that one then i tried to adjust for it so i held to the right about six
inches or so which is probably way too much anyway but uh so my second shot went way right so i got
a way left shot and a way right shot because it was windy then the wind stopped um and i didn't
adjust for the the wind stopping so and then the third shot i finally got where i uh where i was
happy with it and uh i didn't really adjust much for the wind at all on that one i held maybe two
inches to the right and that one turned out pretty good so yeah the wind does play a big factor uh
when you're at 60 yards and beyond especially uh you'll see how travis's shots over here he
shoots in the wind a lot more he's used to shooting here at Arrancos this is uh kind of his
home range and he realized that the wind was you know gonna play a factor at 60 yards and adjusted
for it so when you know what you're doing in the wind that's what your groups can look like when
you don't really know what you're doing in the location you're at uh that's what you'll get so
you'll get pretty subpar results if you're not adjusting for the wind and once again the wind's
not always going to be blown it's fluctuating it's on and off so you really got to know you know kind
of on the fly and adjust your hold for it you know whether you're holding right when the wind's
blowing to the left or you're holding left when the wind's blowing to the right uh you know before
you release that shot because it can stop at any moment and you'll get pretty bad results
so i got a 10 over here but when you look over here follow this line oh that is an 18
travis group size at 60 we got a a six so he's within that six ring that's a really good group
tree back here behind the target i'm kind of using that as my windicator i wasn't watching
it really on the first shot i held off at about four or five inches we're shooting 80 yards
and the thing wasn't moving at all i looked at it after i shot
you could tell my first shot right there on the very right
uh held off about this far about four or five inches but there was no wind i wasn't really
watching the tree like i was for these two the tree wasn't moving at all so i just held dead
nuts right on right on the center so 80 yards right on the line of the eight inch diameter
so looks like i passed that one go check out ryan's he would have had an eight inch group
i did not even notice the tree until we were walking down here and travis told me that that's
what he was using for windage so i'm definitely gonna be looking at that when we shoot 100 here
in a couple minutes but as far as the group goes first one was pretty far to the right
and the second two were pretty good they were within the within the five so i'm happy i know
there was wind so i know it's not just me to blame now we'll go shoot 100 and we'll do multiple
today's tightest uh tightest group challenge i guess you could call it we finished off three
arrows each at 100 yards uh needless to say i'm pretty happy with my group make sure you subscribe
to the channel uh we noticed that like 95 of you guys that watch um which we appreciate don't
subscribe so if you can click that button uh it doesn't hurt anything uh make sure you like it
and comment below if you have something to say uh if you're critical of our shooting uh tips pointers
we don't care let us know if you did make this target how you did you know shoot at 100 yards
and see what kind of groups you can do so it looks like i'd say three inch group at or six inch group
of three arrows at 100 i'd take that out every day ryan on the other hand um i think he barely
clipped the two foot circle so we're definitely going to revisit this in a couple months after we
get a lot of arrows uh through the bow hopefully we'll be shooting our new bows by then but i think
with the amount of practicing and shooting that we're going to be doing uh you're really going to
notice a difference on these targets when we come back and do this again so again thanks for watching
you guys uh hope you enjoyed it and stay tuned for the next one
