A delicate, aromatic walnut cake with a jam filling – golden brown on the outside, soft and incredibly delicious on the inside! This recipe has delighted generations and tastes even better the next day.

🥣 Ingredients:

For the filling:
🔺 200 g walnuts (toasted and chopped)
🔺 100 g sugar
🔺 2 egg whites
🔺 2–3 tablespoons jam (e.g., apricot)

For the dough:
🔺 150 g melted butter
🔺 100 g powdered sugar
🔺 1 egg yolk
🔺 8 g vanilla sugar
🔺 100 g sour cream or yogurt (room temperature)
🔺 350–380 g flour
🔺 10 g baking powder

👩‍🍳 Recipe:
1️⃣ Toast and chop the walnuts, then mix with sugar, egg whites, and jam.
2️⃣ For the dough, combine butter, sugar, egg yolk, vanilla sugar, and sour cream.
3️⃣ Gradually add flour with baking powder until the dough is soft and moldable.
4️⃣ Chill for 30 minutes.
5️⃣ Divide the dough into 3 parts, one slightly larger.
6️⃣ Roll out the first part, place it in a 22 cm mold, and dust with flour.
7️⃣ Spread half of the filling on top, roll out the second part of the dough, place it over, and seal the edges.
8️⃣ Add the remaining filling and the last part of the dough on top, again pressing the edges together.
9️⃣ Brush with egg yolk and create a pattern.
🔟 Bake at 180 °C for 40–45 minutes, allowing to cool in the mold.
