The Dodgers turned back Philadelphia's late rally for a 4-3 victory in Game 2, pushing the Phillies to within one loss of elimination.
But we got to get to the Phillies cuz
they put us through a wide range of
emotions last night and unfortunately
are on the brink of elimination in the
NLGS.
>> The game went from close to seemingly
out of reach. Then a glimmer of hope
that was busted in the bottom of the
ninth. The Phillies are off to LA for a
win or go home matchup tomorrow night.
>> Katherine Scott is live in South
Philadelphia with fan reaction to last
night's game. But we begin with
Gabriella Galott who spoke with players
about the loss.
The Phillies have now lost five of their
last six playoff games here at home. For
as well as they play at the bank in the
regular season and the postseason seems
to be a bit of a different story. In
game two, the top of the order, Trey
Turner, Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper
combined for just one hit. And now the
team faces elimination on Wednesday
night. So the bottom line, this team has
to find their way back into the series.
>> Yeah. Does it suck that we didn't get a
win here? Absolutely. But now we have to
go out there. We have to focus on one
game at a time. There's no looking
ahead, right? And, you know, make the,
you know, make our flight back home here
to Philly cuz we're going to be coming
back at some some point. Make it worth
something.
>> Just got to be better and, you know, got
our work cut out for us going into LA,
uh, out west. So, um, like I said, the
other day, got to flush this one and,
you know, get the next one.
>> Got nothing to lose now. Um, it's not
over. Um, as much as you know, a lot of
people like to say that it's not over
and we're not going to quit until uh
they tell us to go home.
>> Game three is set for Wednesday night in
Los Angeles. 9:08 p.m. Eastern time is
the first pitch and for the second
straight year, the Phils will try to
avoid elimination in the NLDS. Reporting
in South Philadelphia, Gabriel Galotti,
Channel 6 Action News.
>> So, if the Phillies don't do something
in quick, the bank will have seen its
last baseball game this year. Action
News reporter Katherine Scott is live
with what the fans are saying.
Catherine,
>> I know the fans are frustrated, Matt.
Very dejected leaving the bank last
night. They were hoping for at least one
win here at home before heading out to
California. That didn't happen.
>> Get rid of the whole bullpen except Yan
Duran. It's crazy.
>> Frustrated Phillies fans left Citizens
Bank Park last night after a 4-3 loss to
the Dodgers in game two of the NLDS.
fans were hoping after Saturday's
misery, the Phils could get at least one
win under their belts at home.
>> Really frustrating. You know, we uh we
were fighting there at the bottom of the
ninth, almost like we were going to come
back. We were definitely in the mood for
a little bit of Philly's magic and they
just couldn't quite pull it off here
tonight.
>> The Phillies bats were cold for much of
the game. The Dodgers Blake Snell
allowing one hit in six shutout innings,
striking out nine. It was 000 until the
seventh when the Dodgers took a 4-0
lead. The Phillies mounted a comeback,
but ultimately the home team fell short.
>> I was anxious about it because they were
like it was they bunted and it was a bad
play and they got out at third.
>> Now the series heads to LA and it's a
mustwin for the Phils.
>> We got to hope for the best.
>> Got to hope for the best.
>> Keeping optimistic while the Phils have
some work to do. Uh game time tomorrow
night at 9:08. We are live at the bank.
