In this teaching, we uncover why faith—not just hope or desperation—is essential to receive healing. Through biblical stories and also personal experiences, you’ll see how believing God activates His healing power in your life.
If you're facing a situation today that you believe is hopeless, I want you to know that
God can turn it around.
You know, it doesn't matter how hopeless it is.
It doesn't matter if it's a chronic illness, if it's a financial need, maybe you have a
struggling relationship with somebody, or maybe you've received a diagnosis where they're
telling you you don't have long to live.
I want you to know the power of God is greater than any power on this planet.
It's greater than the power of sickness, greater than struggle, greater than Satan.
And so you don't have to fear a hopeless situation.
You see, the Bible tells us that with God, all things are possible to him that believes.
And as a matter of fact, we have a Bible that's filled with stories of hopeless situations
that God turned around because people simply trusted him.
And so today I want to share some of those stories with you.
I want to share a few Bible stories about hopeless situations that were turned around.
And then I want to share a personal story from my own life where God turned things around
for me.
And I believe it's going to bless you and help you so that you can develop your faith
to believe for a hopeless situation.
Now we're going to start today with Mark chapter nine and verse 17.
And it says then one of the crowd answered and said, teacher, I brought you my son who
has a mute spirit.
And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down and he foams at the mouth and he gnashes
his teeth and becomes rigid.
So I spoke to your disciples that they should cast it out, but they could not.
Then he answered him and said, oh, faithless generation.
Now notice he said faithless because this is contingent upon faith.
He said, how long shall I be with you?
And how long shall I bear with you?
Bring him to me.
Then they brought him to him.
And when he saw him immediately, the spirit convulsed him and he fell on the ground and
wallowed foaming at the mouth.
So he asked his father, how long has this been happening to him?
Notice Jesus wasn't panicking just because this boy was having a seizure.
And he stopped to have conversation.
And the father said from childhood.
Now I know one translation says from the time he was a little boy.
And so the father goes on to say this.
And often he's thrown in both into the fire and into the water to destroy him.
So in other words, he's not just having convulsions, but sometimes he's having these at times where
he's near fire or water and he gets thrown into a situation where it could kill him.
But the father said this to Jesus.
If you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.
And Jesus said to him, if you can believe all things are possible to him who believes.
Now I just want to stop and paint a picture here because sometimes we read through these
stories so quickly and we overlook the emotion of the hour.
You know, in this day and age, they didn't have medical treatment that could help people
with seizures.
They didn't have any hope of going to a doctor and getting some kind of a treatment or a
medication.
And so imagine if you're the father or the mother of a child and from the time they're
young they're having problems with seizures.
This would be devastating for a parent.
You know, I know of modern day people who have had children with seizures.
And if your child's having a seizure, it's nothing short of making you panic.
I mean, you're thinking, are they going to chop their tongue off?
Are they going to stop breathing?
Sometimes they start to turn purple.
Are they going to come back out of this particular episode?
And so this father, and I'm sure the mother of this child, they lived a life of devastation.
They probably felt it was hopeless because they'd watched their child go through this
for so long.
But you know, Jesus came along and this man said to him, if you can do something, well,
I like Jesus's response.
He didn't say, hey, yeah, I can do something about this.
He turned that whole conversation around and he said, it's not a matter of what I can do.
He said, can you believe?
And that's the thing that the question, rather, that Jesus is asking us today is, can you
believe?
You know, anytime you face a hopeless situation, the issue is not, can God do something?
It's can you believe that God will turn it around for you?
And so just like back then, today, it's the same.
We have to believe.
And so Jesus said this, all things are possible to him who believes.
He didn't say some things.
He didn't say once in a while.
He said all things, all things means all things.
So don't take your situation today and put it in a category of, well, this is impossible,
but that's not.
No, your situation is not impossible if you'll only believe.
And I'll tell you what, so many times people look at situations in our day and they'll
say, well, that's impossible.
Doctors have even come out and told patients, this is impossible.
There's no hope for you, but thank God we serve a God who's compassionate and faithful
and powerful.
And if you'll believe it can be turned around.
Now there was another time in the Bible when King Hezekiah faced an impossible situation.
And we're going to look at Isaiah chapter 38 verse one.
It says, in those days, Hezekiah was sick and near death.
And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amos, went to him and said to him, thus says the Lord,
set your house in order for you shall die and not live.
How'd you like to receive a message like that from a prophet of God?
Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall and prayed to the Lord.
And he said, remember now, oh Lord, I pray how I have walked before you in truth and
with a loyal heart and have done what is good in your sight.
And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
And the word of the Lord came to Isaiah saying, go and tell Hezekiah.
Thus says the Lord, the God of David, your father.
I have heard your prayer.
I have seen your tears.
Surely I will add to your life 15 years.
Now we see this.
There's nothing more impossible than finding out that you're going to die and not live.
This was a hopeless prognosis.
Now Hezekiah was sick, but I don't even know if the doctors had told him he was going to
die.
But God sent a prophet to him to warn him the way things are going.
You are going to die.
Now I want to clarify something here.
This was not the Lord pronouncing judgment on Hezekiah.
This was simply the Lord giving him a word of wisdom about his future.
The direction he was going was not right.
You know, Hezekiah did have a history of being faithful to God, but he also had a history
of being unfaithful.
And so when he turned to God and prayed, he did the right thing.
He realized, I need to turn around.
I need to repent.
So his response was turning his face to the wall and praying earnestly.
You know, Hezekiah, he couldn't pray with the kind of revelation that we pray with under
the new covenant.
He only had old covenant revelation.
But what he knew worked for him.
He knew I have to turn and I have to face the wall and I need to seek God and I need
to repent for anything I've done that's been out of the will of God.
He was earnest and we know his was because his tears showed us that.
And you know, here's another thing about Hezekiah.
He was far from perfect.
You may be facing a situation today and you may be thinking, well, I've messed up.
I've made a lot of mistakes.
Well, I have good news for you.
God won't look at your mistakes if you'll just simply ask him to forgive you.
And he'll he'll still turn that situation around for you.
So I would suggest if you're facing a diagnosis today or a situation that you deem is hopeless.
If the doctors have told you you have to die, know this.
You can turn your face to the wall and seek God.
And that thing can be turned around in your life as well.
You know, what you'll have to do is you'll have to ask the Lord to forgive you if there
has been any sin in your life.
And then you remind the Lord of your merits.
What are your merits?
Well, nothing good that you've done particularly, but what Jesus has done for you in your behalf,
which you have to do is remind the Lord and remind yourself of who you are in Christ,
that by his stripes you are healed and then remind him of what you have in Christ.
But really, you're reminding yourself so that your faith will grow and you can receive from
God.
Now let's look at James chapter five in verse 16.
It says this, the effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
So we see this in the desperate situations of life.
We cannot afford to be passive.
Oftentimes people tell us about a hopeless situation and then we give them an answer.
We tell them if you'll read healing scriptures, if you'll spend extra time seeking God and
praying, this can be turned around.
But if that person chooses to not do those things, if they will not be fervent in their
seeking the Lord, it may not turn around.
And it's not because it's hard to receive from God, but it's because you'll be more
focused on the problem than you will on the answer.
And the devil will see to it that that happens.
And so we've got to be diligent.
We've got to become fervent in our praying and seeking God.
We've got to become fervent in our speaking healing scriptures and doing what it takes
to turn that situation around.
You know, I have a personal example of my own life.
I mean, there are many, but there's one in particular that I felt was so hopeless.
You know, many years ago, my oldest daughter, when she was five months old, we had her in
a day cradle and that day cradle happened to tip and fall over.
It was an accident.
And you know, the old nursery rhyme, down will come baby cradle and all is what took
place in that case.
And so she fell with that day cradle and hit the side of her head real hard in that day
cradle.
And so my husband and I laid hands on her.
We began to believe God for her, but we could see her head start to blow up like a balloon.
I mean, the swelling kept increasing and she was screaming and crying.
And so after praying, we just had a witness of the spirit.
Let's take her to the emergency room.
So we did that.
And they did a series of tests and they came out with long faces and they said, you know,
it looks like she has a subdural hematoma and a depressed fractured skull.
And so they weren't equipped at that hospital to handle that case.
And they put her in an ambulance and transferred her to a bigger, more established hospital
with higher technology and doctors that were more skilled along this line.
And so we got there and initially the doctors there were laughing and joking about the equipment
at the previous hospital.
But once they did their tests, they came out with long faces.
And basically what they told us was your daughter could die or she could have brain damage the
rest of her life.
And so they had planned to do surgery in the next 24 hours and they would not allow me
to nurse or feed or anything.
And so we were up all night long with her and they finally told us, why don't you go
home and get some rest for a while?
And so we left and we had a couple of hours.
Now during this whole process, we knew this is a matter of life and death.
This is a serious situation.
So we only called people that we knew would believe with us.
You know, this is important when you face a hopeless situation.
Don't talk about it to everybody you know.
First of all, you don't want to talk the problem.
You don't want to talk doubt and unbelief.
And you want people to stand with you that you know will believe God with you and not
break down and cry about it.
And so we were determined we are going to stand our ground.
Our child will live.
She will not die.
And she is going to receive her healing.
We quoted healing scriptures.
We prayed in the spirit and we worshiped God all night long.
Well, in the morning, the hospital called us and they said, we have good news for you.
You can come and nurse your baby.
Well, all that told me at the moment was they're not planning to do surgery.
And that's all we knew.
So we rushed back to the hospital and the neurosurgeon showed up and he said to us,
guys, you have a miracle.
He said, we repeated the CAT scan and there is no trace of blood between the skull and
the brain.
It had completely disappeared.
Now, I'm a nurse.
I don't know if you're a medical person, but I'm telling you that's impossible in the natural.
God took a hopeless situation and because we stood our ground, because we refused to
cave to fear and an emotional meltdown, we stood, we prayed.
He took that situation and he turned it around.
That blood was completely gone.
Here's another miracle.
I asked the neurosurgeon, how long will it take for the swelling to go down?
He said, well, it'll take about a month.
Well, within five days, the swelling had completely disappeared.
And then there was a further miracle.
This famous neurosurgeon never charged us a dime.
Now that's a big miracle in itself.
So I want you to know what God did for Hezekiah, what God did for that boy that was having
convulsions and seizures, what God did for me and for my daughter, he will do for you
if you refuse to quit and refuse to cave to doubt and unbelief.
And know this, that nothing's impossible with God if you will only believe.
Now I want to pray for you today because I believe I am talking to some people today
that are facing hopeless situations.
And I want you to know it begins right now as I pray.
God is going to turn that around, but then you're going to have to hold fast to what
God says about it.
Not what the doctors say, not what people say, not what the financial expert says.
Whatever it is you're facing, God will turn it around.
So Father, I pray for those watching today that are facing those hopeless situations.
I thank you, Lord God, that your power is going in.
It's reaching into that situation and it is supernaturally turning it around from this
moment forward.
We command you, Satan, to take your hands off of their lives.
Take your hands off of their health, off of their finances, and off of their relationships
in Jesus' name.
You have no authority to cause this situation to continue to grow worse.
And now Father, we just thank you that we have the supernatural working on this situation.
Resurrection power is turning it around and we give you the glory and the praise and the
honor for it in Jesus' mighty name.
Now listen, things don't always turn instantly in the natural.
But as soon as we prayed, it started to change.
And you hold fast to that.
Don't cave, don't give in, and you watch and see that situation is turning around.
And we want to hear about it.
So please write and give us your testimony.
