How Abiding in God’s Plan Brings Healing and Goodness.mp4

Did you know that God desires for you not just to live a long life, but to be satisfied in that life. He wants you to have a life that's filled with peace, with purpose, and with strength, right up until your very last breath. And I'm going to start today reading to you a scripture that validates this point from Psalm 91 in verse 16, where the Lord says this to you today. He says, Now let's take a closer look at that because that one verse is packed with power. Now that first word, satisfy, that God will satisfy you with long life, in the original Hebrew, it actually means to have plenty of, to be full, and to be satiated. And then the word salvation in the Hebrew means more than just being saved from sin. It actually means deliverance, aid, victory, health, and prosperity. So what God is really saying here is, I will fill your life with aid, I'll fill your life with health and healing, I'll fill your life with prosperity and with victory, right up till the very end, and it's going to be a long life on top of it. I don't know about you, but I feel like that's powerful, powerful words from heaven to us. Now let's connect that to another promise in Psalm 103 verse 5. It says, Now this verse is not just talking about good food. You know, certainly we want good food to eat for our physical bodies, but God will provide his good word to us so that as we speak his words out of our mouths, our youth will become renewed like the eagles. So in other words, God's not just keeping you alive for a long time, but he's renewing your strength in the process. You know, just like an eagle will soar higher with age, God wants us to be rejuvenated and renewed with strength as we age and not become weaker and become irrelevant in our life. I mean in our later years, God still has good things in store for us. Now as with many of God's promises in the scripture, there is a condition here. And we're going to go back to Psalm 91 in verse 1 and it says this, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. There it is. That's the condition. Dwelling in the secret place. Now, of course, if we're abiding under his shadow, that's the place of protection. That's the place of provision. That's a place where we have our our health is restored and renewed to us. And so what this is saying is it's not about us visiting God once a week on Sunday. It's not about us just watching a video here or there. But it's about staying in his presence as often as we possibly can. Worshiping him, studying his word, speaking his word out of our mouths and praying. But above all learning to listen to his voice. Because the Holy Spirit wants to lead and guide us into all truth He is going to lead us in directions and places that will preserve our health and will extend our lives. Now because in his presence we find direction and protection and provision God wants us to abide there and Jesus echoes the same truth to us in John in chapter 15 verses 4 through 6 And he says this to us. He says abide in me and I in you As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine Neither can you unless you abide in me I am the vine and you are the branches Don't ever forget that order. We are not the vine We do not direct this life that we have if we want things to go well in life And then he goes on to say he who abides in me and I in him bears much fruit For without me you can do nothing and I believe what Jesus is saying here is that without him We can do nothing that has eternal value And since eternity is so much longer than our life on earth, which the bible says is really a mist of vapor We want to be sure that we're bearing fruit for eternity and not just this life And so according to Jesus that comes from abiding in him That's the key to bearing fruit and when i'm talking about bearing fruit I'm talking about the fruit of answered prayer the fruit of healing and health and the fruit of long life So, how do we actually do this? How do we abide in Jesus? Well, let me give you two simple ways The first way is we have to abide in the word of god You know jesus in john chapter one is called the word made flesh So the more we get into the word the more we get our hearts filled with the word the more he abides in us Through his word You know, we need to meditate on scriptures to make this possible It's not just quickly reading through the word or quickly finding good scriptures that we want to hang on our refrigerator But we need to actually take some quality time to meditate in his word And then let it affect or mold how we think how we speak how we live our lives And then there's a second way that we abide in him and this is what I want to place my emphasis on for today's message That is abiding in god's plan for your life Do you know god actually has a plan for your life? And it's not vague. It's not a one-size-fits-all plan It's not just a haphazard plan, but it's a personal detailed assignment And so many believers never really give thought to the fact that god might have a personal assignment for me But I want you to know that he does and it's in his presence that you discover that plan It's through time in his word. It's through time in prayer and it's actually through time listening to your pastor preach messages That you find that plan You know, the lord once said something very strong to my pastor. He said make my people know That long life is connected to my plan You know, that's powerful. Those are powerful words And it's something that's worth hanging on to and getting the revelation of you see your protection your provision These things are found in the plan of god You could say it this way. We all have a path that we're supposed to walk god's given us a path And when we're on the path, all of his goodness is on the path his healing powers on the path his plan For your life is on this path But when we get off the path we get out of the plan we get out of the will of god We get out of the place of provision. We get out of the place where health flows And so we have to see that taking god's plan and his calling for our life is a serious thing Now i'm going to read a scripture to you that I recently heard my husband preach out of and it so inspired me We're going to look at psalm 139 from the new living translation Beginning in verse 13 and going through verse 18 and you'll want to hold on and listen to this because this is so powerful It says you made all the delicate inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex Your workmanship is marvelous. How well I know it You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion As I was woven together in the dark of the womb And you saw me before I was born You know, this is one of the reasons why taking life from a mother's womb is so evil Because god already has a plan for each person Before they're really even conceived but especially while they're in the womb And then verse 16 says this you saw me before I was born Every day of my life was recorded in your book Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed How precious are your thoughts about me? Oh god, they cannot be numbered I can't ever count them. They outnumber the grains of sand and when I wake up you are still with me Now that's a powerful psalm from the new living translation Not only does god have a plan for your life But he has a plan for every day of your life according to this psalm There are actually pages of your life that are written in heaven And the question today for all of us is are we walking those plans out? You know if god actually has a book and he's got these plans written in the pages of that book That means god has some specifics for us and they're worth finding out about You know, we're not here by accident We're not here just to live every day of our life Half-hazardly And just be distracted by whatever comes up for the day and let that pull us away in that direction And the next day we're pulled in another direction We're designed to live on purpose God has a purpose for us and you know something else about god He's an intelligent being and he's more than capable of getting his personal plan for your life across to you If you're willing to seek him Now paul also tells us that god has a specific calling for every one of his children In ephesians chapter 4 and verse 1 it says in the amplified classic I therefore the prisoner for the lord Appeal to and beg you to walk To lead a life worthy of the divine calling to which you have been called With behavior that is a credit to the summons to god's service So according to this verse, there's a divine call on every one of our lives Now not everybody is called to be a preacher not everybody's called to be a pastor or an apostle or a prophet But every one of god's children does have a divine call Another place that we see this is ephesians chapter 2 in verse 10 from the amplified classic It says for we are god's own handiwork Recreated in christ jesus born anew That we may do those good works which god predestined He planned beforehand for us Taking paths which he prepared ahead of time Isn't that interesting again? He prepared paths for us ahead of time That we should walk in them. Not that we should walk our own direction and do our own thing You know, once you got born again, the bible says you were bought with a price and you're not your own anymore And so we should be walking the paths that he prepared But then look at this part living the good life which he pre-arranged And made ready for us to live So you see if if we'll just take the time to find out his path and his plan Our life is going to be a good life But so often the deceiver satan comes and lies to people and tells them if you follow god's plan for your life You're going to be miserable. You're not going to have any fun anymore Life will be dull you go ahead and just plan your own life out and you'll have more fun I want you to know that's one of the greatest lives that satan ever conceived It is not going to be more fun because in the end when you follow your own way instead of god's way you become cheated in life Now let's talk practicality What does god's plan actually include for every believer? Well, we see generally speaking from the scriptures that were called to the ministry of reconciliation That means we're called to share the gospel with other people We're also all called to pray So every one of us needs to have a prayer life and it should not just be praying for ourselves You know like the old preachers said pray for me and my four and no more Well, that's not what god wants us to do. He wants us to pray for others as well We're all called to give and serve in our local churches And our plan and this is important and a lot of people don't understand this our plan Is connected to the vision of our pastor? In other words god will assign you to a local church and a pastor and whatever the vision is that he gave to that pastor The vision for your life is included in that assignment You know We are called to be a part of a church and work together as a unit because no man can fulfill the plan of god alone And so what we see is that we're not walking out his plan as an island or as an individual but as a group as well So what about the specifics what about things like what job should I take who should I marry where should I live? You know, these are important questions and those answers come when you spend time in the secret place When you spend time dwelling in the presence of god, in other words your daily time with god Which is why you should have daily time with god and usually Many of these things will be confirmed by your pastor or about leading voices that speak into your life Now it's not the job of a pastor or a leader to ever find out the plan for you and tell you what it is And so leaders that are constantly prophesying over people and telling them what direction they should take I believe are in error This is the job of the holy spirit to get that information across to you personally Plus I don't know how any preacher could manage their life if they had to tell everybody what to do with theirs But god is a good god. He never leads by confusion He's orderly and if you'll stay close to him, he will get the specifics of his plan for your life across to you Now once you discover god's plan, you're going to have to stay focused hebrews chapter 12 and verse 1 says therefore we also Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses Let us lay aside every weight And the sin that so easily ensnares us and run with endurance the race that is set before us Looking unto jesus The author and the finisher of our faith. Do you know you're in a race and the only way to finish that race properly? The only way to finish it with long life is to keep your focus on jesus Keep your focus on the word of god and stay your course Did you know we also have cheerleaders in heaven? Because according to this verse that we just read that great cloud of witnesses Is made up of those people that have gone on ahead of us They've gone on before us and they're continually watching to see what are they doing on earth that is making an eternal difference What are they doing on earth that has eternal impact And so they're cheering us on to continue to run our heavenly race not our natural race So what are we to do based on these verses? We just read we're to lay aside every distraction We're to put away sin And don't quit do not throw in the towel Keep your focus on jesus and you'll remain strong so that you can finish your course You know when you do these things you're going to have not only a long life But your life is going to be satisfied with the goodness of god And that was god's plan for you from before the foundation of the world I want to pray with you today because I know so many of you watching are wondering. What is god's plan for my life? Well, he wants to reveal that to you. So father. I pray for those who are watching today I thank you that you are great and mighty you're intelligent and you know how to get that information across to them So we ask you to reveal your plan and your specific purpose for their lives to them right now And I thank you lord that they have listening ears.
