In this video, I cut some strips of plywood and stained them with different color stains to see what combination (if any) will work for the inside cabin walls. #mipeace#diybarnwood#plywoodsiding

ER of today's video my piece
whose product combines industry rated
ear protection with bluetooth enabled
headphones
it comes with a nice travel case
there's your Bluetooth enabled earbuds
comes with a charging cable
[Music]
and a first read and the user guide
the charging cable is USB a to USBC
and here is your charging port where you
plug in your USBC end of the charging
cable
if you press the multi-purpose button
until it alternates red and blue that's
how you pair and then once paired you
press the multi-purpose button to
connect to your phone
have you ever noticed that putting on
safety glasses with ear muffs is kind of
a hassle
when you use these earbuds there's no
problem putting on your safety glasses
nothing to get in the way
so uh let's test out the noise reduction
and it works perfectly
now let's get back to the video

I've got an idea of what I want to do
for the
siding on the inside of the cabin
and um
my thought is to just take some
three-quarter inch plywood
slice it up into uh five and a half or
three and a half inch slats and then
stain
each piece a different color stain and
this is just some stain that I've got on
my shelf right now I've got natural
we've got traditional pecan
traditional cherry
English Chestnut
pecan
and gun stock
so I would just you know randomly stain
each slat a different color and then you
know Place those up in a random order on
the wall
I don't know you know if that's
something that's you know gonna look
good but I want to give it a shot so I'm
going to go ahead and throw some stain
you know a different stain on each of
these I've got six boards that I cut out
from a piece of scrap and uh
we'll see how it looks
okay I picked up a couple more uh stains
I've got bleached blue
and rustic Sage
so let's start off with some pecan in
here
[Applause]
let's go ahead and shake it up first
picked up some really cheap throwaway
brushes to use
possible
all right that's a lot darker
[Music]
a lot darker and a lot redder than uh
can
see how it turns out though
[Music]
all right one thing about plywood is the
grain is
not the best looking grain so there is
that
that's one limitation of doing it this
way
let's go with some rustic Sage

so there's a couple of things that I'm
trying to figure out here one is do I
you know which colors do I like and two
do I like this size
slat it's five and a half inches which
kind of replicates a
a six inch slat which is usually five
and a half inches so
we'll see I can always cut these down
smaller you know if I want to this is
just a scrap piece of what I've had in
my garage for probably three years
so uh let's go with another color
let's try the bleached blue
[Music]

okay we'll give that a minute and then
we'll wipe it off
all right now we're going with uh
traditional
cherry
give that a minute and wipe it off all
right now we're going to go with English
Chestnut
this one seems to be drying pretty fast
I'm going to go ahead and wipe it off
foreign
we're going to finish off with gun stock
and this is one of my favorite
outside colors
I've done a lot of projects with this so
all right this is another one I'm going
to wipe off
right now not going to wait
all right those are the colors I've got
so uh let me put them all together and
we can take a look at them
unfortunately I don't have a
surface that's large enough to put these
side by side
so I just kind of have to stack them up
like this and
kind of pretend
but that's the idea
is to just have
many different colors and just kind of
randomly
attach them to the wall
and uh these are a little bit bowed so
I can't get a perfect
picture
I don't know what do you guys think
which colors do you like and which
colors do you not like
and uh do you like the idea of
having multiple colors
or just a single color and if you like
the multiple colors are there any that
you would drop out
so let me know what you think in the
comments
but another thing that I would do to
these slats is I would get a just a
small quarter inch chamfer and chamfer
all of the edges even the Inside Edge
right there
and I would wait until the stain dries
so that those little chamfers would be
unstained
just to kind of highlight
set it apart I think that'll be a nice
look
but this is uh what I'm thinking
for the siding inside the cabin
and I'm not uh
settled on these colors these are just
the ones that I had on hand
I might pick up a couple of other colors
these ended up being a lot darker than I
thought just by looking on the the can
so I might go with some
super light colors and see if I can come
up with a combination that I like
here's a look at the three lighter
colors side by side
and here's a look at the three darker
colors side by side
but uh that's it I think that's gonna do
it for this week's video
I'll talk to you guys later
