The Sombrero Galaxy, also known as M104-NGC4594, is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Virgo.
It got its name because of its specific shape, resembling a hat.
At the center is a supermassive black hole, which is about a billion times heavier than
the Sun.
The total mass of all the stars in the galaxy exceeds 260 billion suns, which is almost
five times that of the Milky Way.
The galaxy was first discovered on May 11, 1781.
Its discoverers were the English and French astronomers Pierre Mechon and William Herschel.
