Multiplication Facts for Kids - 6x Table - Six Times Table
Multiplication is one of the different mathematical operations that kids learn at school and then it keeps living with them in their daily life experiences. One of the important and initial steps in multiplication is teaching the kids about the time tables and in this video the focus is on number six.
The timetable is a method used to teach the kids how to multiply and they usually understand how the process goes and then they memorize it but in a more understandable way that they could work out a number if they have forgotten all about it at some point (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r6IN-h9d-I).
In this educational video, the number dealt with is six and it is actually one of the easy times tables for being even and not odd - since even numbers are usually considered easier for the kids than the odd ones. In the times tables, the numbers that are multiplied by the one being under the spotlight are usually the numbers from one to ten. Here is the timetable of number six:
6 x 1 = 6
6 x 2 = 12
6 x 3 = 18
6 x 4 = 24
6 x 5 = 30
6 x 6 = 36
6 x 7 = 42
6 x 8 = 48
6 x 9 = 54
6 x 10 = 60
There are different important methods and tools used in multiplication and one of them is the memorization of the times tables, but there are also other techniques known out there. These techniques include some games related to Lego pieces (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPW1bmLTFdA), there are also those teachers and parents who use number lines (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5v0AjM0jcPA) and there is the most famous and well known technique which is the grid method which is considered the most famous when it comes to multiplication and it is also easy and thus is good for the kids (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9TWSto7FSU).
It is always important to make sure that your kids understand the times tables and how they are calculated because this makes it easier for the kids to memorize and at the same time make it easier for them to get the answer if they actually forgot about it.
Kids could also check different numbers and their times tables on our channel and they could also check number five, the one before six (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqlsUhAzHpY) and number seven, the one directly after (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRXskRkWkQ4).
Kids should first learn how to count numbers before they reach the point where they learn how to multiply. Through the different mathematical operations that kids learn in math, there is usually a specific order they go through, it all starts with teaching the kids addition and how to add then they come to the part where they learn subtraction and how to subtract, the next step is then learning multiplication and division (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYvf790iHUc).
One of the important parts of learning multiplication and teaching it to the kids is giving them the chance to know about the vocabulary used in multiplication other than the word "multiply" itself because this will help the children when they reach the stage of solving the story problems when they will need to translate the words into numbers in order to manage getting the answer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trlXHFaeZYw).
From the words which are related to the vocabulary of multiplication, there is double, multiply by, times, etc. and these are important because they will help the kid understand that what is being asked from him/her in this specific story problem they are asked to solve is multiplication.
Math is one of the interesting subjects that parents homeschooling their kids could actually teach because there are different ways they could do it through and they also see the results in the everyday experiences their kids go through; they could actually teach them math through games, through solving stories, through the ordinary ways of using a pen and a paper and some parents could even be creative with letting their kids count something while they are doing some stuff at home or are in the market buying things.
