SpaceX officially revealed new Starship Landing Method on Mechazilla Shocked NASA..
This is insane!
SpaceX has just dropped a massive update for the Super Heavy Version 3, aiming to double its aerodynamic efficiency. And the main character in this change? Those giant waffle-shaped metal plates, the grid fins.
This time, engineers have made some smart tweaks that not only fix the shortcomings from Booster Version 2 but also make landing easier than ever.
So, what exactly has been improved?
Let’s find out in today’s episode of Alpha Tech.

It seems like SpaceX really knows how to keep its fans hooked, constantly rolling out major updates to the most powerful vehicle in the world - Starship.
Last month, they introduced a brand-new upgrade for Super Heavy featuring a massive component almost the size of an entire Falcon 9, the fuel transfer tube. Think of it like an auxiliary fuel tank that helps regulate the flow of propellant to all 33 Raptor engines without interruption.
And this month, in fact, just yesterday, they publicly shared images of an entirely new, incredibly impressive grid fin design.

Take a look at this picture, the first thing that hits you is the appearance. As SpaceX put it: “The redesigned grid fins are 50% larger and higher strength.”
And they’re not kidding. Just look at how small that engineer appears standing on one of these fins. The new design is nearly twice the size of the old grid fins used on Super Heavy Version 2, which measured about 4.9 meters by 2.4 meters, a surface area of more than 11 square meters. That means the new fins are estimated to have an area of around 20 to 25 square meters, thanks to their increased length and width.
Of course, it’s a bit tricky to measure just from photos. On Version 2, the fins looked like clean-cut squares, but the new ones are no longer perfectly square, the two right-angle corners have been trimmed, making them resemble a giant waffle.
