What's up DJ Paul, how's it going man? Pretty good. You working on any new projects right now?
Yeah, a couple of them. My nephew's C to 6 Lord of My Son, Rest in Peace Lord of My Son and
new Yellow Whip album
new Cherub album
Paul and Riff Raff and my solo album. Okay, I got a question for you. There's kind of a lot of people right now
in a dispute because Gucci Mane claims that he invented trap music and then T.I.
came back and said that he invented trap music because of his album. That was his album name in
2003, but then it's kind of like that's almost what you guys did.
Do you feel like you guys are the true creators of trap music? Man, the true creator of trap music. Well, this is how it works.
Trap, the name, the word trap, that came from Atlanta.
Back when we was doing that kind of rap, obviously we still do it, but when we started doing that kind of rap,
which was in like 1989,
we called it the track.
TRCK. We didn't call it the trap at all. So, you know, Atlanta called it the trap.
We called it the track, you know, but the originator of trap music, trap track, dope selling music,
is ******* Eazy-E, Dope Man.
Okay, okay, so take it back. That was back in like 1985. Okay, so that's even before you.
Okay, okay. That's the true creator of it. Okay, but you guys were definitely before Gucci and Tip though.
I mean, when we came out in 89, we came out a long time ago.
So, you know, but like I said, they did it, they did it different than we did.
You know, they took it to a whole nother level, man.
You know, Gucci Mane, I love T.I. Depp. Gucci Mane one of my favorite rappers, especially when it comes to that.
So, I respect both of them. It don't even matter. Both of them niggas rich. True, true, true.
Now, let me ask you this. Another big thing that's real popular right now on social media is everybody's freestyling on the Who Run It beats.
How do you feel about that? The beat just kind of blew up again in the past couple weeks.
I mean, I like it, man. It's cool, you know, to see all the youngsters, you know, starting to, you know, get up on Three 6 Mafia,
some of the ones that wasn't on it because the Who Run It introduced a lot of people to, you know, my production and my sound
and Three 6 Mafia's sound and just our whole legacy in the culture. So, it's a good thing. I like it.
That's good. That's good. Out of all your tracks that you've made, what's one of your personal favorites?
That was my personal favorite. It's Who Run It. Okay, that one's different.
It's not no more. I'm sick of hearing it now. Okay, but it's a good one, though. It's a classic. It's a classic.
Classic. Well, that's good, man. It's good seeing you today. Is Juicy J doing anything we should be on the lookout for?
Oh, I'm sure he is, man. You know, he's always doing something.
He is always. It's a new mixtape coming out every week or a new album or this or that.
Blue Dream and Lean Part 5. So, okay. All right. Well, that's what's up. Well, good seeing you, man.
All right.
