The recent mass protests in Jiangyou, sparked by a school bullying case, became a textbook clash between privileged Party elites and ordinary citizens. The uprising was crushed with lightning speed, not because it was large, but because the regime feared it could be the spark that ignites a nationwide movement to end Communist rule.
