Making an ash selfbow using hand tools.
The bow draws 35 lbs at 28". It's extremely smooth and fast shooter. Tips overlays and arrow shelf are made from Zebra wood. I used natural leather for handle wrap and lineen twine for bow string. The bow is heat treated and it took 1" of set. I'm very happy with the outcome. I named the bow "Phoenix". To build this bow I used ash (Fraxinus excelsior) wood. At widest limbs are 2 1/4 " wide.
What are advantages of longbows and recurve bows? In the video I'm sharing my thoughts about both of these designs.
