Swan Lake, Op. 20, is a ballet composed by the Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky between 1875 and 1876. Despite its initial failure, it is now one of the most popular ballets of all time.

Initially in two acts, the scenario was inspired by Russian and German folk tales and tells the story of Odette, a princess transformed into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse. The original production was choreographed by Julius Reisinger (Václav Reisinger). The ballet premiered with the Bolshoi Ballet at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
