How to use Chinese brush the first time.

Hi everyone, this is Shouyang and I'm going to do a brush testing for you guys today. So I received two sets of brushes. One set is just one brush. Like I usually waste... it didn't say what the size is. Actually it said number one. But usually it's about a smaller than medium one. I'll show you. This is the brush I usually use. This is a small size and actually this is this is not a medium. It's smaller than small size. Smaller than small size. Number one. Okay and this is another set of traveling brush. It's more like western watercolor brush. I will test it later. First I'm going to try this Chinese brush. It comes with a very nice package like this. In Chinese it said Chinese brush. Very nice package and this is smaller than small size and on here it said number one. I think this is mixed hair because usually mixed hair is outside layer is white. Inside layer have color. Typical. It's a very typical mixed hair brush. Usually outside if it's white. Typical is gold. Inside is whistle. When you receive it, it's super hard. Super hard and you need to open the brush. I'm going to show you how to open the brush though. Make sure don't bend it because it's super hard and if you bend it you may damage the hair. So I prepared some water and this water temperature is semi-warm. Semi-warm is drinkable temperature. Then you put your brush inside. Make sure the water don't go over the bamboo part because this hair I believe that's typical way you make brushes. You put a layer of glue and you glue this part, the hair part and the handle part together. So if this part, the bamboo part here always in the water, the better quality. Actually most of the this part will fall off the handle. The worse quality is the shorter time with it. It will last. So it's better just don't make this part wet. So make sure the water is only to here to where the hair is and you're tapping and you're rinsing at the same time. Actually this is pretty good. It's already start like there is a layer of glue. They hold all the hair together. See you see already a melt. So I really like it because a lot of hair, a lot of brush, it take a long time to melt this layer of glue. So this already, the glue already dissolved. So you can see here it's very soft now. So it's very light glued. It's nice. So now the brush is ready to use. You can feel it's not hard at all. And this is pretty good actually because the good brush, the tip should be very sharp. There is no loose hair and I can feel, you can see this brush, they hold together. They all hold together. You can see that's what I think. The outside is white, inside is dark. We saw here and the gold hair mixed. It's very typical. Very good for beginner. So the tip hold together. Very nice. I'm going to try it. I get a paper towel, get some extra water out and I'm going to get a rice paper. And this is my ink. Get some ink here. It's pretty good. It's open a little bit but it's normal because when you brush super dry, the hair split. All I have to do is get some water, get a little bit of ink and they hold together again. Very sharp. And let's try I'm going to wash the ink away and try with the color. The overall speaking, this brush is pretty good. And the most part I like is, is I can use this as a fine line brush. It can draw very thin line and not split up. It's very nice. And maybe I will try use as a calligraphy. I'm going to write a name and let's feel how it's with the writing. Very nice with the calligraphy. It is good brush. I like it. Okay. This is the test of this brush. Put away. So after you use the brush, make sure to rinse all the color away because those color, those ink is bad for the brush. And dry it and put away. And make sure don't put back the cover on again. The cover just for protecting the shipping. You don't need a cover back. So this is another set they sent to me. It's quite heavy. This is a leather. It's very, it's very nice feeling. Soft. It's soft and seems very good quality. And this is the brush. Kind of heavy though. It's a western. I believe it's western watercolor. You can't pull apart. You have to unscrew it. So I unscrew this one and you just put here. And you screw it back on. Then you won't pull apart. I try to use strength. It can't pull apart. And this is very nice. It's a number 12. Unscrew it and screw it. This is number eight. But you know because this is a real animal hair. I believe it's weasel hair. You could use that for painting or calligraphy too. So I put this away. The package away. There have three inside. It's 12, 8, and 4. This is a good set for do a small painting. So I get a paper ready. I'm going to draw something with it to test. But this brush is same as that the other one is. It's very hard. It is very hard right now because there's a layer of glue to hold all the hair together. We need open the brush. So let's try the let's try putting it here. I'll put in the water. Put the hair in the water. So it's the same warm water. And I just put the hair inside the water. And at the same time I push a little bit. So help the glue dissolve. Just gentle tap. You don't have to tap. But if you tap it will make the process faster. So ready. See the hair all open. It's very good. They put a lot of hair in here. You can see they put a lot of hair. And same as this one. Putting the water. This is definitely the other one is bamboo. This one is plastic or metal. I think this is kind of metal. This is metal. So it's still it's better just don't put all the parts in the water. But still because this is a metal. So it's it will be better than a bamboo because the bamboo may crack if wet all the time. So very quick. Not even one minute. All right I'm going to do a Chinese painting with this actually. I can tell it will be very nice to draw watercolor. Definitely will be. But I'm going to try draw Chinese paint brush painting with this. So get some ink. Get some lighter tone ink. Because this is a weasel hair. The thing with weasel hair is it gonna hold a lot of ink or water. So this one I can see the hair is loose a little bit. But it's not too much. Just two couple two couple hair get lost. It is pretty nice feeling. try again. Use this to write my name. Very nice. All right and again when you finish painting make sure to dry it. Right now I just feel like it is very good choice design the set use weasel hair. Because as I mentioned earlier weasel hair is barely can hold any water or ink or color. That's what that also means it's very easy to clean up. And you just use paper to suck all the water out. And then it's ready to storage. If it's too much water holding there when you close the cap. I don't think it's a good idea because the thing can be mold you know. You could put back on right now. But I would not do that right now right away unless I'm outside in a rush.
