SpaceX Drops Bombshell Upgrades on Starship Pad B! Ready to Launch…
A new era for Starship is about to begin, marked by sweeping upgrades and a bold push toward the future.
Standing at the center of this transformation is Launch Pad B—a facility that has steadily risen from bare ground over the past year.
Now, as construction nears completion, its final components are falling into place, signaling that operations may soon begin.
But what exactly is changing at this critical launch site? And when will it come online?
These are the questions we explore in today’s episode of Great SpaceX.

Pad A has been a critical asset in the development of Starship. From the earliest prototypes to all nine integrated launches, this launch site has served as the backbone of nearly every major milestone in the program. But despite its importance, Pad A was never meant to support the long-term future of Starship. While its infrastructure remains functional, it lacks the design optimizations necessary for the next phase—especially as more powerful and complex versions of Starship come online.

That is precisely why SpaceX has invested in the construction of a second orbital pad: Launch Pad B. Built from the ground up with an eye toward future needs, this site features overarching upgrades across all major systems. The Orbital Launch Mount, or OLM, has undergone substantial structural improvements. The water deluge system has also been redesigned to better withstand the extreme thermal and acoustic forces generated during liftoff. And after more than a year of steady progress, Pad B is now entering its final stages of completion.
