Not FAA Info Yet!? Can Starship Flight 8 Launch This Month...
I’m starting to think that I shouldn’t always get excited, because whenever I do?
Well, stuff like what we’ll discuss happens!
Flight 8 may not fly this month as we had hoped, especially given the FAA's involvement.
However, on an interesting note, the FAA’s process is now under major review by both the House and the GAO.
In other good news from SpaceX, the company has just achieved a new reuse milestone with Falcon 9.
So it’s not always going to rain; the sun’s rays will always break through those dark clouds.
Let’s dive into these updates on today’s episode of Great SpaceX!

After the successes and challenges of Flight 7, anticipation for Flight 8 has reached new heights. Among the many expectations, the hope for a February launch has been particularly strong.
There are several reasons behind this optimism.
First is the launch cadence. Flight 7 took off on November 16, and considering the rapid turnaround seen last year—especially the mere 36-day gap between Flight 5 and Flight 6—many assumed a similar timeline for Flight 8.
Secondly, SpaceX has made impressive progress with the Flight 8 hardware, conducting a series of static fire tests. The launch system itself has also demonstrated efficiency, returning to operational status quickly after the previous launch.

However, as the days of February slip away, the likelihood of a launch this month is steadily decreasing due to several factors.
With just over a week left in the month, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for SpaceX to complete all the necessary steps in time. Booster 15 (B15) arrived at Mega Bay on February 10 and is currently undergoing detailed inspections, particularly of its engines, before heading into hot-staging tests. Meanwhile, Ship 34 (S34) returned to the Production Site on February 12 and requires even more extensive work. This includes additional engine inspections, given its unprecedentedly long static fire test at Massey, as well as assessments of its fuel tanks, heat shields, and flaps. On top of that, the Flight Termination System (FTS), Pez Dispenser, and simulated payloads all need to be installed. Given this workload, it’s highly unlikely that both B15 and S34 will be fully prepared this week.
