Join me in Part 01 of my stop-motion build series of Lord Nelson’s HMS Victory by Artesania Latina (1:84 scale), filmed in 2025.
In this episode, I assemble the lower deck area, including the pump house, storage rooms, and barrel-filled compartments on a gravel-textured base.
The walls, floors, and interior features were carefully cut and shaped by hand using templates provided in the kit, which were transferred to pre-glued veneer plates I made from 1.4 × 4 mm wood strips.
Although much of the work is manually executed – including fine details like brass rod grids in the door windows and copper paneling – everything strictly follows the well-designed structure and guidance of the Artesania Latina kit.

I'm building this model in parallel with the USS Constitution from Agora Models, which will later allow for a side-by-side reflection on different building systems and kit philosophies.

Music composed by my dear friend and colleague Christian Jung.

Let’s talk shipbuilding!
Do you enjoy highly guided kits with laser-cut precision?
Or do you prefer construction methods that allow for more manual shaping and interpretation?

More chapters are coming soon – so please subscribe, share, and stay aboard for the next voyage in this build series.
