When I was about eight years old, my father built Revell's large-scale Jaguar E-Type in 1:12 scale.

I can still remember standing in front of that model and being completely fascinated by it. The elegant shape, the intricate construction and the way the red plastic body parts revealed the car's underlying structure left a lasting impression on me.

Looking back, I believe that Jaguar E-Type was one of the reasons I became interested in model building in the first place. It made me want to do exactly what my father was doing: build something with my own hands and watch it slowly come to life piece by piece.

After completing the USS Constitution for Agora Models, I noticed that they also offered the legendary Jaguar E-Type in 1:8 scale.

Suddenly, I found myself face to face with the very car that had fascinated me as a child and may well have been responsible for igniting my passion for model building.

Building it felt like revisiting the roots of my hobby.

It also gave me the opportunity to try something completely new: a large-scale metal screw-build model. Having spent decades building traditional plastic kits, I was curious to discover how different this experience would be.

Those two reasons alone made the Jaguar E-Type impossible for me to pass up.

The iconic Jaguar E-Type was first unveiled in 1961 and famously described by Enzo Ferrari as "the most beautiful car ever made." More than sixty years later, its flowing lines, long bonnet and timeless proportions still turn heads around the world.

Agora Models' impressive 1:8 scale replica is based on the original open-top Roadster showcased at the launch event. Developed under license from Jaguar and with support from Jaguar Classics, the model captures an astonishing level of detail while remaining accessible thanks to its largely screw-based construction.

Unlike many of my previous projects, this was my very first large-scale screw-build model. The body and chassis are primarily made from metal, the parts arrive pre-painted, and assembly is performed almost entirely with screws.

Throughout the build, my little grey workshop figure takes charge of the construction process. In several places I chose a slightly different assembly sequence than suggested by the official instructions because I found it more practical and better suited to the way I wanted to present the build in animation.

Once the model is complete, I take a small creative detour.

Using Magnific AI, I experimented with the idea of bringing the Jaguar to life. The little workshop figure transitions into a cinematic sequence in which I appear as an English gentleman stepping into a full-size Jaguar E-Type and driving through the streets of London. The sequence eventually circles back to reality as I hold the finished model in my hands before transitioning into detailed turntable shots of the completed build.

The AI segment represents only a small part of the video, but it was a fascinating experiment and a fun way to connect imagination, storytelling and scale modeling. It was also my first serious attempt at integrating AI-generated cinematic sequences into one of my model-building films.

As for the model itself, I was genuinely impressed.

The quality of the paint finish, the overall appearance and the engineering of the kit made this one of the most enjoyable builds I have completed in recent years. The deep red paint, the detailed interior, the metal construction and the sheer presence of the finished model exceeded my expectations.

If I were to build another one, I might add some additional cleanup, washing and detailing work to further enhance realism. For this project, however, I wanted to experience the model exactly as designed and enjoy the pure building process before making any modifications.

This model reminded me why I fell in love with the hobby in the first place.
