Day 335 - 40x60 Shop Lighting, Part 1
Let there be LIGHT! In my last two shops, I used LED light kits from American Green Lights. I became a big fan of these lights two shops ago when I first installed them. These lights have a high CRI (Color Rendering Index), meaning they emit light through more of the color spectrum than T8 fluorescent bulbs, which tend to go green over time. My last shop was a 30x40 pole barn fully lit with these lights, and everyone who came into the shop for the first time mentioned how well it was lit.
Jim Uno is the man with the plan at American Green Lights.....quite literally, actually. Jim offers a lighting simulation service, where he creates a quick 3d mock-up of your space and figures out the number of lights, intensity of each light, and placement of each light to result in optimal lighting for the type of work you are doing. In my case, there are three major zones: the main working area, the future apartment, and the outside lean-to. Each area has a different target lighting intensity.
In this video, I cover the lighting simulation, the cost of this complete lighting kit, and the installation of Part 1, which is the main working area. Since recording this, I've already completed Part 2, which is the lean-to.
