Trees and branches came down on occupied cars in West Vincent Twp., Chester County during severe weather on Tuesday.
As we mentioned, there is plenty of damage across the area, so we're going to get right now to action news reporter Leland Pender live in West Pikeland Township with more on the damage there. Leland, a lot of damage behind you tonight.
You're absolutely right. Gray and sherry were here in West Pikeland, Chester County, and this is what we're seeing large trees just like this down all across the area roads are impassable.
People tell me they do have power out here, but no doubt these tree branches are certainly falling on some power lines and some phone lines, and it's going to be a real mess for folks as they try and get this cleaned up in the next few days.
But take a look at this video we obtained exclusively from the West Vincent Township Police Department just a few minutes away. These storms pack such a punch.
They had five cars traveling on Chester Springs Road when large trees came down into the roadway. Police rushing to the scene, rushing through that debris to get to people who were trapped.
Police patrolman there tells me that two of those cars were hit pretty bad. One tree just crushing a back windshield. Another branch coming through the sunroof.
The other three vehicles not nearly as affected, but those people escaping with no injuries. They were all, you know, tended to and got out safely, and certainly that's just the best possible outcome.
But it just shows you just how strong and how forceful these storms were, and it all happened very quick. I was talking to police. It was like, you know, he said it started raining.
And then a minute later, it was just a whole different situation that prompted a very large emergency response for them.
But again, the good news, no one hurt there in West Vincent Township today, but some pretty heroic video there that police were able to share with us as they rushed to the scene to help those people.
The damage widespread here in Chester County, Montgomery County, Delaware County, a lot of cleanup going to be happening after these strong storms today.
But for now, live here in West Pikeland, Leland Pender for Action News at 10 on PHL 17.
All right, well, we've seen this before. It seems just like a couple of weeks ago. Okay, Leland, thanks.
And now to this piece of video, this along Route 130 in Burlington Township, New Jersey.
At the height of this storm, you can see the strong winds blowing the rain sideways and beginning to pond out there on the road.
