is check. Roger on one.
Posted area clear. Good in the back.
Ready to go.
I as a small kid would always see
helicopters and planes fly around and
and it was something I I always wanted
to pursue.
I had some family relations with the
Coast Guard. Through that experience, I
I basically understood and appreciated
what the Coast Guard does uh every day,
and I wanted to be a part of that. This
is the MH65 Echo Dolphin.
So, right now we're at Air Station
Atlantic City. We're located at Atlantic
City International Airport. We, as a
unit here, facilitate search and rescue
predominantly. This is our rescue basket
device. Whenever we have people in the
water, the swimmer is able to get to
you. We'll put you in the basket. We'll
hoist you up, make sure you're all safe.
Our range goes up to Long Island and we
will go all the way down to the northern
part of Virginia. Essentially, we have a
12 helicopter unit here. Do our best to
basically cover all ends uh including
any rivers, waterways, ports,
and we are always set to respond to any
sort of natural disaster or local
disaster when it comes to the maritime
domain.
This is the 29 ft response boat small
and we are going to take a quick trip on
the Delaware River. Send four. One's
clear. Sector del Bay. Sector Del Bay.
Right now we are at US Coast Guard
Station Philadelphia. Here we do search
and rescue and recreational safety
inspections. We we're prepared. We're
trained and we know the area pretty
well.
The station here itself works a lot with
uh other government agencies doing
search and rescue, uh law enforcement,
you know, inspections on big vessels
that they come in and out. They even
have an is an ice breaker here to break
ice to uh resume commerce for the city
of Philadelphia. all missions that you
can think of.
Even now, they are doing they're doing
two boat training uh farther south on
the river. Prepare for any any kind of
situation that might happen.
A lot of folks that you find wearing the
uniform. They're here to help people, to
save people so that others may live. I
think it's it's our lifelong mission. I
think search and rescue will be an
instrumental part of our our mission set
and one that we all love to do and will
forever keep doing as long as we can.
