The Local Life: Shop The Cue
I wanted to start this business because
I always felt I was going to be a small
business owner. I just never knew what I
was going to be doing. And I think
having a amazing place to go to that can
help you not only find a gift for
someone that you love, a good outfit to
make you feel beautiful, but also make
you feel like you're important. This is
what I was meant to do for my life. I'm
Lindsay Riley, the owner of Shop the Q,
a full-scale boutique on the Southshore.
We have everything from your kitchen to
your closet and everything in between. I
think looking back now, I never thought
I'd be where I am, but I think that's
the beauty of owning your own business
is watching it grow to where it's meant
to be. Shop the Q was originally started
on the third floor in the middle of
nowhere. I was set out with two racks
and about 20 items and I said, I'm going
to make it big one day. Sure enough,
after being there for almost 3 and 1/2
years, we're excited to now be in our
second location and keep evolving every
day as we grow. As a second location, we
were really looking for something that
felt right. We wanted something where
you walked in, it felt like home. And
that's exactly how this location felt
right when I walked in. That is
beautiful. And then we just added our
new town section, which is one of our
biggest for the area. I think what sets
us apart from being just a boutique is
that we're also a manufacturer for one
of our own in-house brands, which is our
Riley Lane Candle brand. We have our
manufacturing facility right upstairs.
working with Rockland Trust since the
beginning of starting my first store in
Dorchester. It was the personal
connection that got me in the door. When
I started out on my second location, I
immediately called my business banker,
Eve, to educate myself on what I needed
to get prepared in order to take the
next step. I think I was at a new part
of developing my business and where I
needed to learn and how I needed to
grow. I really wanted to do this one
with the bank and I was able to learn
what I needed to do to get there and
able to open the doors here as well as
learn the process and what I had to
bring to the table to grow and make this
all happen. The local life brought to
you by Rockland Trust Bank.
