Children, today's story is the Little Squirrel's Tea Party.
Deep in the heart of the forest stood an ancient oak.
Beneath its mighty branches lived a lively squirrel named Nina.
Nina loved making friends and hosting her famous weekend tea parties for sharing delicious treats.
Today, she planned a special rainbow tea party,
inviting animals of every flavor to celebrate spring's arrival.
Early that morning, Nina bounced out of bed like a little bell.
She placed a wreath of wildflowers atop her head and tied on a rainbow fruit apron.
Gazing proudly in the mirror, she declared,
Today, everyone will taste the best treats ever!
First, she scampered to the apple tree and picked bright red apples.
Next, she gathered plump blueberries and rosy raspberries from the berry patch.
Back in her kitchen, Nina kneaded dough for fragrant apple cakes
and stirred milk with honey into silky puddings.
To make her tea party truly rainbow bright,
she sprinkled the puddings with five-color sugar pearls
red, orange, yellow, green, and purple just like a rainbow in the sky.
The sweet aromas filled the room, drawing curious birds to peek in.
Wow, it smells amazing!
As she bustled about, Nina realized she needed helpers.
She hurried next door to Luna the rabbit, who was practicing jump roping.
Luna, can you help me set the tables?
Nina asked.
Luna bounced over excitedly and spread a floral cloth over the stone table under the oak.
Nina then found Hugo the hedgehog, an expert at presentation.
Hugo arranged colorful leaves around each treat,
making the desserts look like a blossoming garden.
Finally, Nina enlisted Mole the mole,
who used his little shovel to dig a tiny pool and fill it with cool spring water,
perfect for dipping fingers between sips of tea.
Just as guests began to arrive, dark clouds rolled in.
Thunder rumbled and raindrops thumped onto the grass.
Nina's heart sank.
Oh, no! My tea party will be ruined!
Luna had a bright idea.
Let's move everything under the oak's big canopy.
Quickly! They carried tables, chairs, and treats beneath the tree.
Though the rain fell harder, the oak's branches kept them dry and snug.
Surrounded by the patter of rain, everyone felt even cozier.
Rosie the fox offered her knitted scarf to Hugo,
whose quills shivered in the cool air.
Mia, the cat, poured steaming tea into warm cups for the shivering guests.
Nina's heart swelled with gratitude difficult times could bring friends closer together.
Soon, the rain stopped, and a brilliant rainbow arched across the sky.
Sunlight filtered through the leaves, making the sugar pearls sparkle like jewels.
Back at the stone table, laughter and joy filled the air once more.
Golden apple cakes steamed invitingly, silky puddings melted on the tongue,
and sweet berries danced across each bite.
With a sip of crisp spring water or a taste of fragrant tea,
the friends savored every moment.
Birds serenaded them from the treetops,
and butterflies twirled among the flowers under the oak.
It felt like a true celebration.
Hugo raised an apple cake and toasted.
Nina, thank you for this marvelous afternoon.
Luna smiled.
This has been the prettiest tea party ever.
Mo lifted his teacup.
Here's to friendship and rainbows.
Nina looked around at her friends' happy faces and felt her heart glow.
Holding out the final pudding, she said softly,
The real rainbow is your smiles.
Thank you all for coming.
As the sun set, its golden rays painted the forest,
and the friends bid each other a warm farewell.
With pockets full of treats and hearts full of memories,
they headed home under the twilight sky.
That night, Nina lay in bed,
replaying the day's adventures picking fruit,
braving the storm, and feeling the kindness of her friends.
Whispering to herself, she thought,
With friends by my side,
even rain can lead to the most beautiful rainbows.
Under the silver moonlight,
Nina drifted into a sweet, contented sleep,
her dreams as colorful as today's tea party.
